  1. I would say what I would do to these so called parents, but I'm afraid if I do I might get banned.
  2. Okay, so I guess we have to root for the Twins to sign Cabrera, even though he will probably become a .320 hitter for them, and always be a pain in our ass.
  3. I see no problem with a very cheap, but filled with incentives deal for Baldelli.
  4. perhaps a move to the bullpen is in store for 2010. I feel most pitchers who have problems with mechanics and have to have TJ surgery should be move to the pen sooner rather then later. I felt Kerry Wood should have been moved to the pen at least 4 years ago, but the cubs were too stupid to do it. He was no doubt an ace starter when healthy, but any bird brain could see that Wood was an injury waiting to happen every time he took the mound.
  5. The more I've been thinking about it, the more I like the idea of bringing Garland back. He's only 29, and has consistently been a solid big league pitcher and innings eater his whole career, and has shown the ability to step up in the big game. His value is relatively low right now, and I think it'd be reasonable to say we could get him on a deal of something like 3 years, 27-30 million. Also, a thing that might help is him possibly getting more work with the 5th starter job likely filled by a rookie, and Danks and/or Floyd possibly do for a down year. Garland getting less rest would help his sinker a lot, IMO, and make him more effective. I would not mind a rotation of: 1. Buehrle 2. Floyd 3. Danks 4. Garland 5. Poreda (I hope he wins the job as I think CR would have a lot more success in a long relief type of role)
  6. I don't know about anyone else, but I think I'd deal Jenks straight up for Escobar.
  7. If we put AJ back in the 2-hole, Ozzie should be fired on the spot. It was understandable last year as we had absolutely no one else, but if we actually go into the season with AJ batting 2nd, I'm gonna puke.
  8. ugh, and I had KFC last night...
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 01:20 AM) Why? I don't understand. Abreu consistently puts up .370+ OBP's and put up 5 straight seasons of .400+ OBP from 02 to 06. I'd have absolutely no problem with Abreu at all. Because I think we'd be doing to opposite of what we would need to do, get younger, faster, and hopefully better defensively. I don't see the point in trading Dye and signing Abreu to probably a 3 year contract worth around 30 million or more. I think Dye is a lot better, and I'd much rather keep Dye and use the money on a free agenct pitcher.
  10. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 09:44 AM) I want to puke sums up my thoughts completely.
  11. Even though I think Putz is exactly what his name is, I like this deal for all three sides.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 12:46 AM) You're just f***ing Nostradamus when it comes to baseball. You saw him play, therefore it must be true. Quote this...you don't know squat about judging talent, otherwise you'd be working for a major league baseball team. How many players have you scouted and evaluated? Is Joyce going to be better than future Hall of Famer Ryan Sweeney? Give me a f***ing break, we can write a book with all your damn predictions. Oh, and all the Tigers fans I know hate this deal. It doesn't take a f***ing genius to notice these things. I have been wrong, but I have been right a whole lot more. Think what you want, but don't f***ing insult me, or my intelligence.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) What are you talking about? Larish hit 27 HR in AA in 07, Joyce has never topped 17 in any league nor has he hit over .270 since low-A ball. I don't give a crap what Larish did in AA in 07. I saw him play and he won't do s*** in the MLB. Anyone with any knowledge of hitting can see that Larish's approach and all around swing just won't cut it. Unless he changes what he does at the plate, he won't be any better then a bench player. You can quote me on this. Joyce will easily be a better player then Larish.
  14. EDIT: Never mind. Larish is the weak stick I was thinking of. Joyce actually has some potential.
  15. Lets hope Furcal does not re-sign with the Dodgers, and then the Dodgers sign Cabrera. That'd be awesome.
  16. I'm a bit worried that Toca is his trainer. IIRC, Toca got suspended for steroids while he was with our minor league team.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) I'll gladly trade my wife for Jessica Alba...it's not going to happen. Yes, but we can dream.
  18. I'd gladly take Jason Heyward from them.. the guy is a stud.
  19. Lets hope this won't be the one time Cowly is actually correct.
  20. Since I have a feeling Lillibridge is going to be the new Pablo, just take all old Pablo memories, and substitute Lillibridge into them.
  21. I really love JD and wish we didn't have to trade him, but we really don't want another year with the big 3 base cloggers. Man oh man, too bad we couldn't trade Thome. I have come to the fact that JD is 99% gone, and have been saying he's gonna be traded for a while, but with all the news of the trade almost being done, I have been getting really sad at the idea of JD being gone.
  22. Okay, now lets just hope he signs with a team that will be picking 16 or lower.
  23. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:50 PM) quality over quantity. I think Lillibridge and Getz are both pretty decent options at 2B, not to mention Betemit could play 2B in a sinch if need be.
  24. why do people still go on saying 2B is a hole? My god, you'd think Getz, Lillibridge, and Nix weren't on the team.
  25. I'm not loving this if it was just Dye for Bailey straight up, but if we could get someone like Dickerson in the deal as well, I'd be all for it. Bailey has a ton of potential, but he is still a major question mark and we'd be trading a big time bat in Dye for him. My dream scenario is something, even though I have no idea how I would get this one player, like: 1. Figgins, 3B 2. Getz/Lillibridge, 2B (platoon) 3. Quentin, RF 4. Thome, DH 5. Konerko, 1B 6. Dunn, LF 7. Ramirez, SS 8. Pierzynski, C 9. Taveras/Dickerson, CF (platoon) BENCH: Betemit, Lillibridge/Getz, Dickerson/Taveras, Backup Catcher ROTATION: Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, Bailey, CR/AP PEN: CL Jenks, SU Thornton, SU Linebrink, SU/MRP Dotal, MRP Carrasco, MRP Link?/VB?/???, LRP CR/AP
