Today's bullpen implosion, brought to you by Seattle Sutton
BearSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) How many times have the Sox starters had a no-hitter past the 5th this year? I know Danks and Floyd had a couple. It is amazing how the Sox pitchers are becoming all or nothing. Ozzie probably should've pulled JV after walking Gross, but that it easy to say now. Just sucks to lose 2 at home in the fashion the Sox have the last 2 games. They showed a stat how TB has outscored the Sox 11-2 from the 7th inning on. The 8th has been extremely brutal with 7 runs allowed in 2 games. Linebrink needs to get healthy quick. I am surprised we have lasted this long without him. Also, I can't believe TB is beating us without Longoria or Crawford. Are you freaking crazy? First off, that walk to Gross was bulls***. Anyone watching the game knows that Javy got squeezed big time. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) Did Javy load the bases? If so then Ozzie was right to take him out. Thornton usually has been lights out dominating, but of all days to take a step back it had to be today So what? You don't take out your pitcher in that situation. He wasn't tired and he was getting them out all night. It was f***ing stupid move to take him out. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) Thornton had the chance to get out of that inning with the Sox still tied if OC could field the damn ball. Does he have naked pictures of the official scorer? I've never seen a player get the benefit of the call more than he does. Wait, they actually scored that a hit? What the f*** is going on? -

I think it was f***ing stupid to take out Vaz when they did. It was his ball game to win or lose, not the bullpen's. It's not like he was even hit hard that inning. He gave up a decently struck ball to Navarro, but he got screwed over by the ump with Gross at bat, and Bartlett had a little seeing-eye-single. If he was giving up rockets left and right, it would have been different, but he was still pitching good. f***ing stupid. -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) I actually have 3 "girlfriends" out here. But who is counting?? LOL! And believe it or not, I caught tonight's game on NASN (North American Sports Network)...it's always a treat when I can get a game on TV...most of the time I just watch on the PC 1.2 MB which is pretty good on my labtop via wireless connection.... I've heard that polish girls are also very hard working and are practically slaves for their man, like they always clean up after them and such... One of these days I would like to go to Poland, as I am half polish. -
I'm not surprised Jorge Sosa tested for positives. Always been a bit suspicious of him.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) How about a Dye single, Thome walk, and Griffey homer? well, that's not happening. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) Hell, as much infrastructure as they've built up at BarackObama.com, from the blogs to the individual pages, wouldn't moving all that stuff seem nearly impossible? couldn't you just change the domain name?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 10:01 AM) Nice to see 3 of my AAP's do well. Shirek with a nice outing, Dubler has been on fire lately (8 for his last 23 with 2 doubles and 7 RBI), and Miranda with a walk-off winning hit (he's 6-for-14 with a double, 2 RBI, a walk and no strikeouts since his promotion to W-S). So, Cole Armstrong has filled in nicely for Donny Lucy at Charlotte. Hitting near .300, has good defensive skills. Any chance he is the backup C next year? Hall is on an option next year I believe. doubt it as he is a lefty... but I would not mind seeing Hall as far away from the white sox as possible after this season and having someone who doesn't suck as our backup. Besides for his "hot" start, he has been s***. And even when he was getting base hits, they weren't even hit hard, but rather little bloopers or grounders finding the holes. Even today, his little grounder that stayed fair should have been a double, but was only a single. If he turns that into a double, that whole inning could be different. Plus, he provides pretty crappy D. You'd think for a guy who is 6'2", 250+, he could hit for a little power. I liked this signing when it was first made, but I was dead wrong about it.

why in the world did we f***ing take out Vazquez again? So what if he loaded the bases, it's not like they were beaming line drives all over the field off of him. He was getting them out all night, and you f***ing take him out Ozzie? What in the f***ing world were you thinking? I wouldn't care if he gave up a grand slam to the next batter, it was his f***ing ball game to win. f***ing stupid. And what the f*** was Uribe doing playing in and off the line for Bartlett's double? That f***ing cost us a run. With two outs, and nobody on, you're playing the bunt? Seriously, does anyone on this team know anything about baseball? With 2 outs, you should be playing back and towards the line, to prevent a double. What a f***ing terrible showing today, once again. -
I'm getting sick of seeing Ramirez out there. I wasn't impressed when I first saw him, and he hasn't been good since. Poreda can't come soon enough.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Per the GM of the Barons, the deadline to demote players from Charlotte was 8/15. So, we can't get David Cook back for the playoffs. Maybe a September call-up for the White Sox though. What exactly does the GM for a minor league team do?
-
Their new name should either be the wallbangers or the dash.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) No, but people that have seen him realize that he's not a prospect. Have you seen him? The one time I saw him on NESN, he looked very bad. I have not seen him, so judgement on him is still pending for me.

Since we're talking all-time favorite Sox players...

Easily no. 1 in my book. Some other names include Jeff Abbott and Mark L. Johnson. Charles Johnson is up there as well. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 01:32 AM) If you were told flat out the Sox cannot make the WS what teams would you prefer getting in the WS? I'd pick the Dodgers in the NL (for Torre getting even with Yankees) and Rays in AL. I might take the Twins except for the dome. I hate that f***ing dome. If not the white sox, then I'd enjoy an Angels vs. Diamondbacks world series. The pitching matchups would be great. My third choice for World Series would be Rays vs. Brewers. Two teams no one though would be there, but surprised everyone.

QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) If DeWaine Wise is out for any period of time due to his abductor injury... which is very possible... Who might the Sox call up to replace him? Conventional thinking says Owens. But I can picture Cook getting a September callup and getting a little playing time too... If for no other reason than they have to either add him to the 40-man roster or potentially lose him in the Rule 5 draft this fall. And if they add him to the 40-man roster, why not call him up and give the big league coaches an opportunity to help make a decision on him? If Wise goes on the D-L, I'd guess that Broadway would be called up.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) I would, he's not very good. The last thing this team needs is another outfielder. If anything, call up Owens for pr purposes. Because you've seen him so many times, right?

what's your point???

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:27 AM) I hit over .700 in my softball league... And I don't think I should be drafted. Competition and tools are very important. He played at WVU, which is a D-1 school with average-above average competition. Hitting .400 at that level is very impressive. Much more impressive then you hitting .700 in a freakin softball league. It's not like he played at some no name school in the lowest division in the backwoods of kentucky or something.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 06:29 AM) Tyler Kuhn looks WAY ready for promotion. I think we got ourselves a steal with this one. This guy hit over .400 in college ball (WVU), and went undrafted until the 15th round or something. How does that make sense? Even if he doesn't have the best tools, the guy is a hitter.

I remember when Bureau was posting here, he was hyping up Gerst to be just a step behind Jacoby Ellsbury... I hope he is right.

did anyone here Obama's response to the abortion question? My god, he is a piece of trash.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 10:06 AM) He doesn't have the right to support terrorist organizations financially, but he does have the right to support them through his words and own an AK-47. We cannot give the government the power to limit who can and can't bear arms based on political or religious ideology. As Soxbadger said, there's probably some information missing from the article that appeared in the court case. It does sound like he was up to no good, but what were they able to prove? Is this sentence out of line with other people charged with similar crimes? I don't give a s*** if he owns an AK-47. I give a s*** that he's walking around public places with it fully loaded, and stores it in the back seat of his car. I also give a s*** that he fully admits and admires terrorists and terrorist organizations. I don't care if you fund them or not, anybody who does support them should be hung for treason.
