1 out... k'd Roberts. My man Markakis better hit a homer.
-
Buchholz with a no-hitter for Boston through 8... I really hope he doesn't get this. If he does get this, all you will hear on ESPN for the next year is how Clay Buccholz is the best pitcher in baseball and should win the cy young award this season.

September 1st -- White Sox vs. Cleveland

I love how the White Sox didn't even try and make Byrd work. -
I am really becoming more and more of a fan of Justin Smoak. I'd be extremely happy if we got either him or Pedro Alvarez in the draft this year.

DLS tonight: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 10 K, 0 HR... got the ND in a W-S 4-1 loss. W-S is in a double header and is now leading in the second game. G-F starts in a couple of minutes.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) What? Explain. Well, it really wasn't anything big to be honest. Hawk and DJ were just argueing about the defensive placement Ozzie has the White Sox in. -

Now Hawk and DJ are turning on each other -
Eckstein is complete garbage. He was decent when he was younger, but he is complete garbage now. I have a stronger arm then him for gods sake. I thought I'd never say this, but I'd gladly take Uribe over Eckstein.

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) I haven't seen anything official on call ups, just speculation. I will be surprised if Bourgeois isn't added to the 40 man and called up, in my opinion they should give him a good long look. I would bet he is better than Andy Gonzalez at just about any aspect of the game. not happening. Bourgeois, IMO, will have to have a great spring training, and if Pablo returns as just a shell of his former self, I could see Bourgeois replacing Pablo. But you're right, Bourgeois is probably better then Andy Gonzalez in most aspects of the game.

I noticed they are finally giving Phillips a shot at the MLB level. I think this might be just an audition for maybe some team desperate for pitching to take a small chance on him.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 08:36 AM) a top pitching prospect in all of baseball?? id think you would have a tough time finding 2 GMs in baseball that agree with you on that you can't argue with the numbers. Egbert has put up some of the best numbers in MiLB over the past 2 years... I really think Egbert will be in serious contention for an open rotation spot next year, and would not be surprised at all to see him break the 25 man as our 5th starter.
-
not really surprised either. Biggest surprise to me is Haeger not being listed as a call-up... Hopefully Sweeney will end the season strong at Charlotte, have a great offseason (get stronger!), and have a breakout 2008 season.
-
Great Falls won, 12-10. Most notable preformance, IMO, was Jim Gallagher. went 1-3 with a homer, 2 R, 3 RBI, and 3 BB. On the season now, he is batting about .340 with 8 HR, 40 RBI, 31 BB, 33 SO, 5 SB (3 CS), 20 2B, 1 3B, and with an OPS probably over .950 now. Right now this is looking like a very solid pick to go along with Poreda. Hopefully we will see them both start next season in Winston-Salem.
-
Gio dominate as usual. 7 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 R, 8 K, and the W. Charlotte won as well, 6-3. Heath got the victory I think. Someone else can do the official update or whatever, I'm too lazy/tired/depressed.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) No, I hear you... seriously... but I also think you will see a HUGE downturn of those #'s should he come back, and if that's the case, no thank you. I think you would see .270/.345/.470 out of Rowand... And I'd take that over Hunter anyday of the week.

I personally say let Fields develop at 3B and forget about Crede. This team needs a rebuilding. A "re-tooling" and spending an insane amount of $$$ in free agency might only make us .500 or a little above.
-
Damn, I didn't know Howie Long had a son who is a top MLB draft prospect. I knew he had a son who is a top prospect at DE for the NFL draft next year.
-
My big board right now: 1. Pedro Alvarez 2. Justin Smoak

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) Another ugly game. One loss closer to Alvarez. It'll be interesting to hear Guillen's post game comments. Especially after yesterday's rant. Please keep me updated on Ozzie's post game comments, if you could...

QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) The White Sox need to go overseas and get a Dice K type if they are serious about winning. Also sign free agents galore. The draft is a crapshoot. Yep the draf is a crapshoot... I mean how many players in the majors have actually even been drafted?
-
Ryan Sweeney not playing today... perhaps he is the "spark" Ozzie wants up at the MLB level
-
Remember how Iguchi sad he almost wanted to cry when he left chicago... he doesn't seem to sad anymore, and who could blame him: http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=phi

Doesn't Egbert kinda have to be placed on the 40 man? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this his 4th season now in minor league ball?
-
QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) Ugh, Griffith joined Matt Long and Ricky Brooks in the club of unsuccessful 2nd round picks in the past few years for the Sox. At least he's young I guess, I hope he does better next year. ??? Matt Long is still a question mark and yeah Ricky Brooks was unsuccessful, but I don't see how you can say that about Griffith as he barely pitched and is still very raw, right out of high school.

4 games behind (or in front) of the no. 1 pick! Hopefully in september we will see a minor league team. A minor league team would be better then this suck we put on the field day in and day out.
