Dye and Contreras for Billingsley and co! Get it done RH (Rick Hann, a guy can wish can't he?) In all seriousness, I highly, HIGHLY, doubt the Dodgers are even contemplating trading Billingsley. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) I could still root for Buehrle as a Dodger. Not that I want him to be. I could root for him as a Cardinal...
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 05:39 PM) And what did he do the 5 years before that? good point, and you do know all, so I'll hold you to your word

Some things never change... So KW, is this team gonna turn it around still? Farmer feeling bad for Rongey, going to take some of the calls tonight.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) Perhaps he was literally carrying the lineup? I heard Jay Leno make the same joke about Lebron James last week... nice QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Sweeney is not playing in Charlotte tonight, BTW. Just saying that maybe Thome's injury is worse than first thought. Seems like today would be an odd day for an off day or maybe he has a little injury, too, but I am just starting the speculation. I was about to bring that up as well. As much as I don't like to see someone like Thome get hurt, I'd really like to see Sweeney back up here.

I am a Broadway fan, and I think with some work those BB's will go down and K's go up. It worries me that his strong point was once his control, but is now his weak spot. But at least he keeps up the good ERA and results.

we need to be looking for players who are between the ages of 22-28, who are mlb ready, and who are locked up for at least a couple more seasons. I wouldn't mind a little bit of both. I would like to hear KW say that they have to get younger and do better at scouting at young talent in other farm systems.
-
If this years martket is going to be anything like last years, I highly doubt 5 years at 75-80 mil would get it done. Comparing him to Zito, I would guess that he would get somewhere between 6-7 years worth around 100-115 million. This is if he keeps up what he has been doing this season.

In related news, the White Sox must go 66 and 30 for the remainder of the season to win 95 games. 95 games should get us either the division or the wild card... sounds quite easy, KW, you are a genius! QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 11:33 PM) Assuming KW meant everything he said in that article, and from the bit I saw on CSN, I'm now rooting for this team to lose until the deadline. Go ahead call me a bad fan. I want a competitive team back on the field as soon as possible, and that isn't going to happen by waiting for the outfield fairies to get back. I agree. If KW is too smug to realize this team as is has no chance, and with the way the rest of the central has developed... he needs to go if so, and if that means my favorite team in all of sports has to lose th rest of the games from here on, so be it. The team would be better in the long run. -
After 13 starts last year, Mark Buehrle had an ERA of 3.13. After 13 starts this year, Buehrle has an ERA of 3.45... hmm
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) He wont. how do you know?
-
What if Buehrle has another second half like last year?
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:12 AM) It doesn't work like that. His agent would politely decline and they would file for free agency. He either gets 5 years, or he walks. Simple as that. Well, let him walk. I don't believe in giving pitchers not of elite caliber huge deals. Also, I should add that I have a feeling that if Buehrle isn't traded, come free agency, Buehrle will turn down the White Sox offer to him and sign a similar contract with the Cardinals, and he will be forever hated afterwards.
-
I would give him 3 years guaranteed and two options that could become guaranteed if he reached a certain amount of goals.
-
Someone brought up Geoff Jenkins a week ago or so, and I really like the idea of maybe signing him. He is 33, but he is a solid vet who consistently puts up good numbers.

Ridiculous. Going to keep this team intact because the most underachieving player on the team said they were going to turn it around. I love PK and all, but damn, you've been telling the same old story for the past 2 1/2 months already. -
I don't know about that, but tonight I actually some life on the field.

QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) Do you spend at least 40 hours a week looking at swings, studying tape, talking with professional baseball players? I seriously doubt that. No, but how do you know Greg Walker does that? Or are you just assuming he does?

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) Too bad dippin dots are like $85 for a 2 oz package. It's even worse at six flags. It's like 5 bucks for like half a cup. -
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) No - he is obviously doing nothing at all. He is teaching them the lift and pull approach obviously and the players he is working with have all the talent in the world. He got it all under control. Lets keep the same players and get a new coach. Lets see what the new coach can do with this bunch of crap. I never said you knew nothing - I said the White Sox staff is smarter than you and actually knows baseball. Not sayin that you don't, but you don't know it as good or as much as them. I am sure they can see the same stuff you see and more. How do you know? Have you actually ever gone inside my brain and saw what I was seeing when I was watching a baseball game? If you have, that is a big invasion of my privacy.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) If it's hot, you must have some Dippin Dots. Simply the best ice cream ever. Connies Pizza is great, nachos are great, the polishes are great, and the kosher dogs are great. Basically, all the food at the park is great. I love dippin dots. They have them at six flags also. It is like hail drops from the heavens. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) Here's a few candidates http://hit2win.com/ http://www.baseballtips.com/instructo.html http://www.mauersquickswing.com/ nice....
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) Because he is employed by people smarter than you that actually know baseball and know what is actually going on with the team and around the team. Just a hunch. Yeah, you busted me. I know nothing about baseball. Obviously, if a coach is coaching the worst offense in baseball, he must be doing something right.
-
seriously though, how does this guy still have a job?
-
I think the Cards might still be the team that comes out and offers the most. Colby Rasmus, Anthony Reyes, Bryan Johnson, and possibly another B prospect, and that is a pretty good deal.
