  1. I'd personally rather sign Fukudome and another OBP guy to go at the top of the lineup. He'll probably make go for 4/50 on the open market, five less per year than I see Ichiro getting.
  2. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 07:23 PM) all i know is #34 is on the mound and he's pitching like Freddy "Dead Arm" Garcia. You mean the guy who induced three groundballs, two of which were softly hit back to him? Give him a f***ign chance, seriously.
  3. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 07:22 PM) f***ing KW can you trade for ANY talent! Oh, please. One bad pitch. You already had your f***ing mind made up about Gavin before he started tonight.
  4. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) thank God Morneau's on my fantasy team. don't tell me Kenny Williams actually thinks the guy we got for a broke down freddy garcia deserves to be in our rotation post-Buerhle. Oh, please. One bad pitch. You already had your f***ing mind made up about Gavin before he started tonight.
  5. WHO f***ING CARES IF THEY ARE FORMER ROYALS? Still the most overused and meaningless reason for this team being s***ty. A s***ty player is a s***ty player, whether or not they played for the Royals. Newsflash: the Royals are eons more talented than we are. They should worry about having our trash.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) why? Because you fail to know enough about the struggles of this team your only answer is to get rid of one of the better managers in the game? No, because his cute, old timey understanding of the game has an adverse effect on our GM. s*** like Erstad/Pods will reign on the Southside through 2011.
  7. This would be the most frustrating moment in my Sox life.
  8. Yeah! Eggy is just too old! Just like Rich Hill! Eggy's top PECOTA comparable? Brandon Webb
  9. But moving Salty to 1st takes his offensive potential from above average to below average.
  10. Ozzie is not a "special manager." A special manager would have some idea on how to handle his players and not give up on them.
  11. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:19 PM) Most of the time, I'll take experience and average-above average speed over lifetime AAAA player. That's just me, though (and Kenny Williams and Ozzie Guillen). I'll take the power and the ability to do a thing or two. Kenny and Ozzie are both idiots.
  12. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) Judging the HR statistic to determine the potency of a ballclub again, eh? Hmmmmmm...that has worked in the past. HR>Deadball era OF
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 08:10 AM) Then why else do you like them? WHat have you seen of them at the major league level that is so attractive to you? Is it because of the couple of scouting reports that you read on them? I'm just trying to figure this out. He has incredible plate patience and is only 22. He has incredible skill and would be under cheap control for quite awhile. Yes, please.
  14. Maybe Anderson and McCarthy busted because our manager couldn't f***ing handle letting young players develop. It takes more than one season. Ozzie decided from day one Anderson was s*** so he played him sporadically throughout the year. Real managers stick to the young guys despite their struggles (Pedroia anyone?).
  15. For God's sakes, you can't just say that his stats have been skewed by his bad start. You can't skew facts. I could just say his numbers have been skewed by his recent bout of seeing eye singles.
  16. HE'S GETTING ON BASE 30-31% OF THE TIME! THAT IS NOT DAMN GOOD ESPECIALLY FOR A f***ING LEADOFF HITTER
  17. It's not Erstad v. Anderson---it's whether or not Erstad has been damn good. He hasn't. Maybe if we scrapped this "lightning in a bottle" strategy and tried to acquire a real CF we wouldn't suck.
  18. Coming into today Erstad had an OPS+ of 79, an OBP of .305. Damn good indeed.
  19. It's amazing what an abysmal outfield will do to a team. And no, Erstad is not doing damn good.
  20. There is no reason to be mad about this. We are a home run team and always have been. I'm only mad about scoring 99 runs, we should have a hell of a lot more.
  21. If Terrero gets that many AB it wouldn't even be a surprise. It would be completely unjustified and ridiculous, but, hey, it's Ozzie.
  22. Gah why does he leadoff? If he's gonna play, put his ass in the nine hole. Hide your worst hitter, don't give him the most AB.
  23. Garrett was amazing, but not anymore. Not sure of his status, but he's probably another example of signing guys to large deals after their prime.
  24. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) Who cares about Brian Anderson. He is horrible. And through his first 400 or so AB in the majors has not been considerably worse than a lot of stars/solid MLB players were in their first 400. It's called maturation and development, something our stupid no good couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag Larussa esque over managing bigot of a leader has no use for. If you think I'm being too hard on Ozzie, read what he had to say about BA last night. How f***ed are we gonna be when we're employing more than one young white guy in new positions over the next few years?
