Dollars Overseas
I was just watching a show on the History channel that quoted a figure that two thirds of US currency is in circulation overseas. Is all that foreigners working here and sending money back home? Anyone know? I know there is a huge demand for "greenbacks" and many are in private vaults and foreign banks, but how do they all get there?

basically they are paying for refereals for their ad words program. Not a bad idea.

Scotty Pods to the Rox
I'm not so certain we don't win in '05 with Lee. But it's not worth debating. I'd say '06 and '07 would look better with Lee.

Big Boobs = Unhealthy?
QUOTE(Soxy @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) Because I need a job and PhD's aren't exactly in high demand these days. Actually PhDs are in as much demand as always, it's employment demands that are down. IIRC the number of students are doing just fine.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
I was just thinking, when Clinton was elected, I was thirty or so, and after 12 years of Reagan / Bush, a sax blowing, Fleetwood Mac playing, President "my age" was cool. Now, we're getting tossed aside as old voting for his wife Maybe there is something to the age thing.

If you owned the theater and you had an employee who would be costing you money by attacking your customers, should you not have the right to terminate their employment? If a McDonalds employee followed someone out the restaurant and started yelling at them, it would seem reasonable to take action regarding their employment. She basically just pissed off your customer. That ain't cool. But your point is strong, and without the facts, we're just debating shadows which look different to you and I.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) I believe the Dem party is in a transistion phase from the old guard to the new. The San Fransisco hippies of 1968 are on their way out. This is their last shot. Hillary represents them. Obama represents the Gen X democrats and they will be THE force in the party after '08. It's just a matter if the hippies can hold the fort through this election or not. I think that is over simplifying things. What is also happening here is the old white guy guard, who has been pandering to women and minorities, face their first real test of faith. After decades of proclaiming, we're your party, old white guys have to actually share some of that power. That may be as big or bigger than the social, aged stratified groups.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) I don't know if that was the situation or not. All I know is she was 'on the street'. She had her daughter with with her and just may have come from home. Regardless, once she crosses that threshold and is off the clock, and if she's not wearing a uniform or something, she's nothing more than a citizen and every right to ask her elected representative a question about his policies. I would tend to agree if that was the case. But if she used her position to get near him, then it's a whole new ball game.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) She was on the Street! As mentioned, we do not have all the facts, but when has that stopped us before I understand that, but she just finished as her job, hosting him. I don't think you can just "clock out" and move 3" past the front door. The connection was from her job and it seems there is room there for abusing. Put another way, my employer's name opens doors. If I use that name to promote my own agenda, I would expect to be fired.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) I have a gut feeling he'll endorse Obama unless Hillary ... ummm ... scratches his back. There are a number of ways that parties keep their members in line. As you move up the food chain, you have less and less restrictions, but Edwards isn't the most powerful. He should be thinking about his next race and who will help him the most. Hint: It probably isn't Obama.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) She was at her place of employment, stuck a camera in the face of a politician, and then her daughter yelled at him. I can't imagine any place of employment that would take kindly to that. Bingo. I think you and I are on the same path here. There are certainb venues that I have to be very careful about what I say and do. Certainly a work function, while I am in uniform would carry different expectations than a public events away from work. If she was away from work, I agree with YAS's comments, but at work, different rules.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) She, from what I understand, didn't accost him. She, as citizen of the US and the commonwealth of KY, asked to speak to and question of one of her elected representatives. And to clarify the situation, Ryan wasn't 'on the job'. She was on the street as a citizen. I'll grant the bratty ass kid was way out of line, but still, no politician to have to power to demand someone be fired for questioning them. I'm wondering if she used her position as the Theater Manager to gain access? Since it was at the theater, or am I misreading those statements?

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 12:36 AM) I don't think Lieberman is that stupid. Regardless of what happens on the Presidential level, odds are a stronger Dem majority in the Senate. That kind of betrayal would wind up with a Lieberman stripped of all seniority. I'd love to see more guys like Lieberman who have the freedom and courage to support either party at times. Imagine if more did cross the aisles based on issues, not labels. I'm dreaming, I know.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 11:19 AM) McCain needs a good old fashioned bible thumper to be his running mate. He needs someone to pacify the religious right who hate him. And it better be on a "New" fashioned Bible. Just like Romney's Bible is toooo big, Lieberman's Bible is too small to pacify the Religious Right.
