  1. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 15, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) People said the same thing about Denny Neagle, Mike Hampton, Kevin Brown, Alex Fernandez.... I'm not saying he isn't the best just that the odds of him actually staying healthy for even half the contract isn't good. since you will only be able to insure half of it, that will be a major drain on any budget. A totally safe budget, without any drains, will net you last place in your division. But I know some would cry this October if they thought we won a World Series with Hunter and his terrible contract, or Rowand, or any of the others. Fourth place and "good contracts" W00t
  2. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 15, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) No pitcher is worth a 7 year deal. Look at the history of those long term deals, I can't think of any that have worked out. I have no problem offering 25 mil for 4 years but I would never sign a pitcher for more than 4 years. So you would go $100 mil for four and not $140 mil for seven? Those last three are costing you less than $14 per year. I'm with that esteemed baseball analyst YAS on this one. I also think the top offer at 7 years would be $17 to $18 per not $20.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 11:45 PM) Lol, not going to use Carmax simply for the reason I just got fired from there Good reason.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 15, 2007 -> 12:32 AM) Hey, a friend and I figured out its a very good way to rank girls. More 1 and 2 stars than any. You're not going to be too disappointed with a 3 star, but theres some flaws. A four star is pretty good, but some minor flaws. Try it out sometime, you'll realize you can assign a star value to any girl and it can be understood. Of course, a commitment would likely bump up the ranking to a 5, but I'm like that. LOL My rating system goes from 5 to 2. Much simpler and universally recognized. Jessica Alba is a 5. Most of the really hot women you will meet are 7 and 8's. The ones that you will have a chance with are 9's and 10. The ones you will settle for are 11 and 12's. And finally the ones that you wake up and try to sneak out before your buddies see you are 1 and 2's. If your bars stay open later, feel free to add 3 and 4s to the system. It's all bar time and when you would leave with them. AKA the drinking factor. And btw, she's rating you the same way.

Thoughts? I'm thinking that portability will not be much of an issue, so a powered one will be fine. It will be primarily a backup, but perhaps I'd store some extra music and pictures in it that I do not need 24/7 access to.
  6. Totally selfish, Bonds, Clemens, Giambi, et.al. all cared enough to inject to make themselves and their team better.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) Wow. Denied. Ouch, didn't see that coming. Maybe they olnly rejected half of you? Dude, check the appeal process, there sometimes is an avenue after they see who has not accepted.
  8. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) Are the word-linked ads on the front page new? No, they've been around of hours, which is like a year in human years, which is seven dog years, which is 1/3 of Vick's sentence.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Hopefully, 30% or so of the HOF voters will be angry enough that this will be exactly what they do with anyone accused. Frank Thomas and Ken Griffey Jr. May wind up as the only 2 big bats going into the HOF from this entire era. And I for one wouldn't complain at all. Just think what their numbers might have been had they not been facing juiced up pitching while they were clean. that you are correct on Thomas and Griiffey
  10. To all my Democratic friends: Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. To all my Republican friends: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  14. I wonder how much they spend in parked domains?
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 12:25 PM) I don't know what a "verticle" is, but it sounds gross. I'm just giving you crap. There is a sliding scale. I agree, but I picture some guy in 1957 hearing that someone lost $140 mil and will spend two years in jail and he'd probably think it was crazy. So what will we think is crazy in 50 years, besides Mike's 10,000,000 post
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) The Royals....they may just beat out the Sox in the cellar battle
  17. Brian Anderson w00t why spend more?
  18. The lineup I fear the most is Chicago's, by a wide margin. I do not worry about what the other teams have going in.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 10:31 AM) There's slippery slope... and then there is Tex's 5.13 vertical drop. 50 years would not be a 5.13, but wouldn't that be the same vertical drop that took down Vick?

  24. When every single CF signs and is "over paid" guess what? That's the market. That isn't overpaid, that is the current price. Anderson and count the money! Rest easy we're in fourth place but haven't signed any bad contracts

4.75 of 5 completed. Part of my Lit final was outside of class. About an hour of class left for this semester, then four weeks of break. I'm also taking two weeks vacation, so they next couple of weeks should be sweet.
