It kind of feels like Bush Sr.'s unsuccessful campaign.

I agree, it all has to come into balance. It's part of the intangibles like integrity, character, and trustworthiness.

History channel 9-11 conspiracy special
Was that a repeat or did they do another version? It seems they aired one a year ago with the same format. I wonder if it changed anyone's mind? I never bought the Bush as murderer, so this just confirmed my beliefs.

I would not totally dismiss the "rock star" factor. It certainly was a key component for Kennedy, Reagan, and Clinton. Being a cheerleader and making America feel confident and optimistic goes a long way. In fact with Reagan it was probably his single biggest accomplishment. Going back to Nixon we had three duds. Reagan rides in on his stallion and we start kicking some ass.

When Hollywood and Chicago collide
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 08:41 AM) What do you mean? Have you seen some of those post-Halloween specials on candy? I wouldn't leave either. I'm guessing a bar closed at 2:00 am

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 07:54 AM) Its funny because if you get past the quad-rennial "idiot Republician" media slash-job, the positions he has on lots of the major issues, are by far my favorite. His SSI and Illegal Immigration plans are not only both intelligent compromises, they also promise the least disruption to day to day lives for the most people. But its easier to buy the all-too-predictable "idiot" label... Exactly. It's like there is a formula or script that has to be followed and he got stuck with that role.

Brian Anderson's strong words about Winter Ball...
BTW, the more I think about BA and the club wanting him to go to Mexico, I think this is like sending him to boot camp to humble him. This isn't about anything physical. Just knock that chip off his shoulder, knock his ego down a few sizes.

Overrated, How does a player get that label?
What is also interesting is overrated doesn't necessarily mean being bad. You can be a A player or a HoF and get tagged.

IIRC he was a very skilled campaigner before leaving office. I wonder if this is an example of the big step it takes in going national. I had never really thought about it before but going from local to county to state to national are all big jumps. If we consider this is part of a job interview and what we do as voters is "hire" someone, he is not looking good from a preperation stand point.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) I'm not a big fan of Pat Green though I do appreciate his talent. I was just kinda "Oh Well" about Green. But Willie ... well I thoroughly enjoy kicking back and just chillin' while Willie did his stuff. Outdoor venue on a beautiful night. Couldn't ask for a more enjoyable evening. Did Pat open for Willie?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) I'm listening to Eric Clapton doing Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright". OMG it's kicking my ass. Album: Bob Dylan: The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration How was the Willie and Pat Green concert? I was at the International Music Festival on South Padre Island yesterday. 12 different venues, excellent range of acts. I also caught the Art Walk in Port Isabelle and a Mexican War reenactment on the way home.

How do I make a contextual link?
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 06:47 AM) Hello, thought maybe one of you young people could help me. How do I do a contextual link? For example let's suppose there's a story on the White Sox website and the link is something like: http://whitesox.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?y...sp&c_id=cws and the story is about the Sox hiring two new coaches. I notice some of you will display the link and re-title it (which I call a contextual link), for example when you display the link it shows up as: Sox hire two new coaches Can someone tell me how to do it, thank you! Type in the quote you want to use as a link. Highlight those words, click on the icon with the +

Bonds won't enter Hall
Since the proof was obtained illegally, that means he didn't do it? I believe that means a court could not convict him using that information, it does not magically mean he did not do it.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) The difference being Hill's associates are committing the crimes now (HU) as opposed to a decade or two ago. I see Obama's association with Rezko hasn't hurt him too much yet. Well as long as other candidates are doing it, I guess it is ok.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 10:31 AM) Is that all you got? He doesn't hear a question fully, and now he is in need of hearing aids and senile? He actually associates with someone who has had a criminal past, and now he is tainted too? Might as well wipe the whole damn field of candidates from both sides then if that is the case. Shall we apply the same standard here that we would if it was someone like Hillary Clinton?

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 07:42 AM) Does anyone know how many Bora$ players they already have? I was just thinking, which agent do we love? You know, the guy that gets his player waaaay less than the next guy? The guy that sells his clients as low as possible Boras is amazing. All he has to do is look at a GM and the GM makes bad decisions. We need to send Boras and his amazing talents to the middle east. The only way to protect yourself from Boras is not to look at him, do not talk to him on the telephone, do not open any mail from Bora$$.
