One key factor that is missing is how they want her to dress. "Professional" is what I read. I assume that the President didn't say wear something that shows off that great body. This is very subtle harassment, almost reverse of the stereotypical behavior that Neanderthal bosses displayed in the dark ages. Would anyone's opinion of harassment change if the President said he just wanted her to dress more conservatively? I agree with Steff in what steps she should take, but we may find at the end of the rainbow, it is a poor attempt at helping her.

I think the committee has to be careful to be certain whatever criteria they use can be applied to every candidate. That may be tricky.

PA, because there are real Church and State issues that Phelps brought up, and you would be the most likely, (of a group of not likely) to agree with that point of view, I responded seriously. Although, IIRC you have not agreed with the hate he spews. People who thinks he has the right to spew do not necessarily agree with what is being said, just his right to say it.

They are free to make their statements in other venues, take out newspaper ads, whatever. I think our society should make distinctions in where certain speech can take place.

If funerals are not private, I do not know what would be. If common sense a decency does not stop them, then maybe fining them into oblivion will. Now this is a cool professor. Changed tonight's test to a take home and mentioned he needed to get to the Halloween party at his house. Then proceeded to invite the class.

SS convinced me the flat tax is the worst idea, ever. It unfairly taxes the lowest income levels who can least afford it. Look at it like homes. If you make $500,000 per year you have a certain home. Perhaps 4-5 bedrooms, a pool, five baths, a four car garage, etc. If you make $20,000 per year you probably rent, or if you do own your home, it is a modest 1,400 sq foot 3 bedroom 2 bath 2 car garage. Each person can afford that home. Now look at taxes paying for the country we live in. Do you want to live in the country that is built based on what the guy that makes $20,000 per year can afford to pay in taxes? That is what a flat tax would create. Instead we have to tax the individuals who can afford it the most, in order to have the security we want, the roads we want, the education we want, etc.

Reading the news in any big city, shootings, knifing, killing, theft, assault, how much of what we are seeing is the run of the mill, third world big city violence that wouldn't be reported if the US military wasn't right there?
