  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 01:05 PM) I see no problem with that, as long as that organization doesn't spend money to specifically endorse or promote him/her or attack other candidates. Impossible. If I produce a pro ANWR drilling commercial and play it in a district that a candidate is against it, it would promote that candidate. Even if it does not specifically mentioned the cadidate by name.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 01:16 PM) So no posts about the deaths in Iraq being at its lowest level since July06 for both troops and civilians? I was wondering if anyone would post it, so I waited a day out of curiousity... Then I figured I would go ahead and mention it. I didn't see it. Of course it wasn't widely reported and we know why.

  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 12:31 PM) The Beach Boys? I used Surfing USA last year. And some Jimmy Buffett. I'm thinking of possibly some steel drum music.
  5. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) Sailing - Christopher Cross Make sure you throw a tarp down to catch all the vomit. A tip of the cap to Critic for getting into the spirit of National Sarcasm Month I used it last year
  6. I need seven minutes of music for a highlight slide show. The pictures are a lot of beach shots, surfing, sailing, etc. The lyrics must be PG13, no alcohol, sex, drugs, references. It should also convey a "beach feel" I was thinking Marley, Don't Worry, Be Happy and Seals and Croft's Summer Breeze, but now I'm thinking more upbeat.
  7. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) Wow, Tex, thanks for this AWESOME piece of news, I don't know WHAT I'd have done without knowing that super-important information. I should have started a thread. We need more National (Fill in Blank) Month

  9. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 10:21 AM) If you can't tell, Newt Gingrich thinks VERY highly of himself. He should. That's all I will say about that.
  10. Seems like good strategy to underestimate what resources you will have and overestimate what your opponent will have. Keeps you fighting and you won't lose momentum if that's what happens, and if it doesn't, well you get a shot of adrenalin that you exceeded expectations. Most golf books tell you to always expect your opponent to hit the perfect shot, when playing chess always assume your opponent will not blunder. I don't see that as lying.
  11. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 08:25 AM) I've always suspected Valentin had to be roiding when he came to the Sox. I dislike spoeculating, but when I read that, I thought that's a name that might also be true.
  12. Not that anyone here is even remotely smart enough to know this, but it is National Sarcasm Month. Kap, can you order some extra green ink for the server?
  13. I just can't figure out how he keeps getting jobs, and they keep getting better. Perhaps this is the end of the road for him.
  14. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 09:16 AM) Important note on that - $5M of that money cannot be spent on the primary process. The gap between Obama and Clinton, in terms of money that can actually be used in this process, is only $2-3M. All that for a job that pays about $150,000? There must be some cool perks
  15. Second run through Obama, Dodd, Clinton. Wow, three GOP in Kaps and three DEM in NSS. Could there be bias in these surveys that steer someone to a certain political party?
  16. He spells really well.

  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) But here's the problem; what's the other option? To go out and spend $5 million a year over 4 years on a Linebrink or something else likie that? Pretty much every one of the available bullpen guys not named "Mariano" is going to be a "rebound" bullpen type at the best, because there's really no one on the market who's had a great season and put up a solid, consistent career. Any philosophy is going to be extremely dangerous. Every philosophy carries a high risk of failure. The job right now is to minimize that risk. It could still happen even if you make the correct decisions 100% of the time, because there may just not be solutions available. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) I think Erstad and Podsednik will be gone for sure. I'm hoping Uribe will be gone and I'm hoping Pablo Ozuna will be still around, this season really went downhill after Ozuna and Crede went down. I'm figuring much of the bullpen should be gone if this team is serious about contending again. I'd love to see the Sox pick up another starting pitcher whether it's a signing or a trade involving some sparable players on the team.
  18. Speaking of german dessert wines, I have a friend who is stuck on the white Zin I've gotten her to try and like a Gewurtztraminer (spelling???) and she likes that. IO wold eventually like to get her to a big Cab or Pinot Noir. Any suggestions on the road map? She also tosses in some salt to her beer but she's so damn cute.
  19. There must be a difference in quality, I will go get different one since I seem to be drinking all my wine tonight. And btw, anyone out there who has a drink in hand let's drink to my "soon to be ex-wife" maybe she'll sign the damn papers so I will be free at last, thank god almighty I'll be free at last.
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) I forgot who came up with it, ChiSoxFn, aka Jason, the founder and media mogul behind the talk**** empire.
  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) I'd love to see you in that exact same position. Try it some day, let alone at that speed. You must umpire. I did for a couple years. Playing was so much less stressful. Not even close. I had the great fortune of getting plunked with bases loaded and one down in the final inning of a playoff game. I truly think I might have been too scared to actually swing. I know I let the ball hit me. That was easy compared to umpiring.
  22. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Never want to piss on the grave, Don't cry for those things that can't or won't cry for you. i.e. piss away, he would not have cared if you died.
  23. My Doctor is the coolest told me to drink a glass (any size) of red wine each day. Now I really don't want to be knocking down a full bottle each night, but by day three. it's a little funky. The wines in a box are too harsh for my delicate pallet. Or at least the ones I've tried. So far the Corbett Canyon has sucked the least. The thingy you pump in the bottle to get out air doesn't seem to help much.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 11:25 PM) I laughed at that. Might make a good tattoo accross the small of your back. . So she flips him over and keeps looking?
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) I'm sure he wasn't the first Sox to use roids nor will he be the last Sox to use roids/hgh/etc. I can say that about every team in baseball too. There is only one player that would break my heart to learn he wasn't clean while on the Sox. One player that seemingly proved you could be clean and great, yet he had a couple injuries that fans of other teams pointed to and claimed it as "proof". I'd hate baseball for a long time if it was true. I started to post that the pressure for marginal guys, those trying to bump up from the 40 to the 25 is probably greatest, but then stopped and realized guys want to start, then they want bigger contracts, then better results for the fans who demand those long home runs.
