  1. It could be a bad translation.
  2. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) wow political correctness has completely corrupted our society. they basically went on a 3 day long crusade to get some old man fired for saying "nappy headed hoes". it's kinda funny, but also troubling. fixed it.
  3. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 09:48 AM) RIP. My girlfriend has had Slaughterhouse 5 sitting on the headboard for a while. Maybe I'll crack it open this weekend. Wow, my girlfriend has had Slaughterhouse 5 sitting on the headboard too
  4. Rush is still in the Limelight, still in the Camera Eye, still with Vital Signs, and going strong, but sadly not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Some Witch Hunt I guess. No need for Tears, perhaps they will be inducted by 2112.
  5. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Bet you'd go crazy for a nice crap on a freshly cleaned desk. A rare glimpse into the mind of FlaSoxxJim, and a frightening glimpse it is
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) I guess I've missed Boston's dominance on the mound The greatest catcher of all time isn't going to turn Donald Duck into Cy Young, so I'm not certain that is the best barometer. I'm not picking Varitek or defending him, but I think just looking at the staff's current stats doesn't tell a story.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 01:07 PM) Well that's what happens when you put the victim on trial instead of the defendants. Its why rape cases are the most underreported major crime category, and also the least successful one at trial. This gets confusing, I assume we are agreeing. The problem is the "victim" tunred out to not be and the defendents turned out to be victims. So if the stripper (victim) had been put on trial earlier, much of this may have been spared from the headlines. I have no doubt that the politics of getting re-elected played a role, and that really pisses me off.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) So now you need to cry about racism every single day for your point to be valid on reverse racism or double standards? That doesn't really make much sense. What Imus said was stupid, and I'm sure not argueing its not. But it totally invalidates a movement when the leaders of it are hypocrites. If you want to convince me that Jesse and Al really want to improve race relations, I just once want to see them reach accross the aisle when someone screws up and do what Jesus would have done. Forgive, aid, and educate. Funny I don't remember Jesus calling for Pontius Pilate to be fired, for condeming him to death. I don't remember Jesus turning out the prosititue for her actions... I think that race relations would go a lot further in this country if the effort was towards mending fences instead of finding who to blame for the broken fences. Do you really think the discriminating against white people is going to make things better? All you do then is breed contempt and hate again. Everytime you draw a line between you and me, you just make it easier to reenforce the racism that exsists in this country, even if it is for a seemingly good purpose.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 10:38 AM) Randy Johnson, Frank Thomas in his prime, Albert Belle. The goal of any and all maxxim lists is to get you to say Maxxim list. The worst thing they could do is nail the list correctly and have everyone shrug their shoulders and say, so what?
  10. QUOTE(Top Notch @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) With Four-A fodder rounding out the other 22 on the roster, you would without question need one ace starting pitcher. Along with the ace of my staff, I choose a Centerfielder and a Short Stop. So my team looks like this: Grady Sizemore, Jose Reyes, Felix Hernandez. Sure, but wouldn't guys like Chris Widger, Eduardo Perez, etc. who could be had for the minimum easily be enough veteran leadership? I thought the rest had to be minor leaguers. I also think there is a difference between club house and on the field. I also think an edge should be to someone who has actually won something. So maybe there is room for a Dye sort of player in thetop three. But passing over an A-Rod/Pujols for Dye would be challenging.
  11. Anyone value veteran leadership on the field every day?
  12. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) I dont think ordering a stripper can even hold a candle to making them in any way responsible for what that stripper and DA did to them. This is what these kids are gonna be remembered for, for the rest of their lives. They will always be linked to rape allegations. The stripper and DA should be in jail. The biggest curse is the lingering thoughts of victims who may not come forward and prosecutors that may not prosecute. I am more inclined to throw the book at the stripper and possibly taking a more cautious look at the DA.
  13. Cross posted The players deserve an apology. They will also be successful in a settlement that will line their pockets. Fines are the main way we keep score in America. I also hope that other kids realize that these kids put themselves into a position where they could be accused and many people would not believe them. Hiring strippers isn't exactly an activity that will endear them to most of America. Put yourself into a bad situation and bad things can happen. There are a lot of lessons here.

  15. I just hope that down the road someone who is guilty gets away because a DA is afraid to go forward.
  16. Usually I'd hide it to myself and never talk about it
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 01:11 AM) See Dan Patrick show (nothing is better). Best show.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 10:51 AM) 1 player? Pujols. 3 players? Pujols, Johan, and probably King Felix. Any of the above picks could work out. I was thinking Johan, Felix, and a player to be named later. Pujols would be nice, A-Rod was another choice. I was also considering a catcher either Mauer or Martinez, maybe Varitek. If I had to narrow to three, I guess I'd go Johan, Felix, and Mauer. Taking it a step further, I'd next be looking to draft the AAA guys from up the middle, SS, CF, 2B.l Then look for a closer, IF corners, relievers, more starting pitchers, OF corners, relievers . . .
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) I just did some desk straightening-up and cleaning. It's kind of nice being able to see my desk again. Nothing is as underrated as a good desk cleaning, or a nice crap.
  20. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) I think I love you. I think I love you, but what am I so afraid of?
  21. Listeners only drive the price that advertisers are being charged. It's the advertisers that drive the decision, not the audience. This area is over 90% DEM, yet there are no liberal talk shows, only the GOP Radio network. The audience share is decent, but what sold the two stations on caring Rush and Co, was the list of advertisers willing to go into any market and make it a viable business venture, regardless of ratings. To me it's a great way to contribute to a political campaign without contributing to a political campaign.
  22. Too often we are trying to act like we are "suppose" to and not how we really feel. A REP makes a mistake, DEMs jump on them. Gore talks about the environment, and REPs have to attack. We *have* to. It might not be how we really feel, but we *have* to. It's expected.
  23. I just read Slaughterhouse 5 a few months back. RIP
  24. We embrace that double standard around here every time Jay Mariotti publishes a column that A. Repeats what everyone here is saying -and- B. Is negative We can say it because we are "fans" (same group) , he can't because he's not a fan (different group). Now if we can embrace that on such piss ant stuff like is Bobby Jenks a good closer, we have to embrace it on something as important and life altering as racism in America. So I understand that aspect. And Imus is intelligent enough to understand the current climate in America. So he can't be surprised, he should have been more careful. I would like to see the Black community, by whomever has some credibility with the younger population, clean up all those comments. They have targeted people from outside their community first, ok, you have flexed your muscle, you've been getting people fired for decades, now look within and clean that up as well. It removes the hypocrisy and sends a clearer message.
