Scarred for life?? That is the most overblown b.s. And notice it wasn't the girls at first, it was people around them telling them they would be scarred for life. Scarred for life is being a target of a suicide bomber for your religion. Scarred for life is being poor and desperate and having family members dying of starvation. Scarred for life is the genocide in Sudan. Scarred for life because an idiot called you a name? You are one weak individual. Sorry if that is scarring you. Some DJ calls your group a name and you're scarred for life? OMG, those girls will never find love, marry, have children, they are doomed, doomed to a scarred life. GMAFB. You mean to tell me there is no trash talking in college basketball? That must have really left scars. Name one black person who has faced the same punishment? Take away the double standard and treat me as an equal.

QUOTE(spawn @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) And who said I approve of black comedians ridiculing white people? Where have I ever said that? I think you lower yourself if you have to degrade any group of people. And Imus got one chance? Are you kidding me? Imus has gotten a free pass for years! It's about time that chicken came home to roost. Now, white guys get one chance. That is the current mood of this country. It's going to swing back to the center. It's b.s. that the double standard has gotten this far out of whack. There is a huge difference between these words and the real problems. Jason Whitlock is spot on with his comments. If someone can't handle being called a name without being scarred for life, they will have a long and difficult life. Hoe could that same person handle rejection by someone they loved? They would be kicking the chair out from underneath themselves. The Rev. Jesse Jackson called New York Hymietown. Insulted millions of Jews, scarred them for life, Yet no repercussions. I want everyone on a level playing field. You will not be taken seriously with this hyperbole.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) CRI-MIN-EEE! Tex needs to buy a new Old Guy translation book. The girl is 18 and is not all that sure what she wants. She started dating the other guy at 16 and that is in all likelihood the only serious relationship she has had so far in her life. There is comfort in knowing/thinking you might get back together with that first big long-term love after a split because it's all you know. And sex is the last thing I'd be concerned with until y'all find out what you really think of each other. Don't listen to the Bozos and go have a good time. More old guy translations: They have been dating two years and she's been telling him no, waiting to graduate from High School before going "all the way". You are either the foreplay or the main course. Seriously for a moment: Don't listen to the guys, listen to the women here. Always, always, always, listen to the women.

QUOTE(spawn @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) My God, when a dyed in the wool Democrat writes thte above, you know it's over the top. And it was racist. And it was mysogenisitc. Again, what did these women do to deserve this kind of treatment? My first month while going to school in Louisiana, I was acalled a n*****. I was 18 years old. It was the first time someone had called me that. It scarred me. It scars me to this day. Does that answer your question? it's only a word, but there is so much hatred and history behind it. Great point. I'm scarred by all the black comedians that tell me I can't jump, dance, etc. call me honky and worse. FIRE THEM ALL. I'm scarred. Can't have it one way. You want fairness and equality? Then start b****ing about the s*** that all entertainers spew out there. White guys get one chance now, black guys get millions and a free pass. Show me the fairness and equality in that?

Now it is working, and I didn't do a thing except go on battery power to use this connection.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) Bit of trivia: Jon Corzine is the third consecutive elected governor in New Jersey to break a leg while in office. Hey!, It is Jersey ya putz. Yu wanna join them . . .

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ he called them a name. OMG! What if someone called you a name today? Would you be "scarred for life"? Thank God no one here has ever been called names. I'm getting just a little sick by people blowing this s*** all out of proportion. He called them a name. I suggest everyone here that thinks he's the antiChrist examine their lives and if they called anyone a name, punish themselves as bad as Imus is getting puinished. Hell, if it was that bad, it would be illegal, We have laws for everything else. My God, when a dyed in the wool Democrat writes thte above, you know it's over the top.

And at the nicer end of Texas, it will be sunny and in the eighties on South Padre Island, where I am heading. Adios Frio. Sipping beers at my favorite ocean side bar, eating fish tacos, watching the sea gulls and dolphins.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) Well, here's one old guy that isn't saying run. Not saying get down on a knee and propose either, mind you. Go out and see how much you enjoy each other, simple as that. She may be telling you how it's all likely she's getting back with her old boyfriend, but know that a lot of that may be defensive on her part. She has tempered your expectations as to anything serious developing, but matters of the heart are always negotiable. She can also feel better about herself to think that she is 'on a break' and not that she was unable to keep a relationship together. Self-confidence and security is a tricky thing when you are 18. It's OK I speak jive (old guy) Try and get laid by 10PM, if it doesn't work, dump her, call your buddies, and hang out. End FlaSoxxJim translation. I'm with Queen and Soxy. She's having great sex this week. Possibly with you, but probably with her old boyfriend. And after they have that great sex, they're going to be talking about you and what a loser you are. Sadly, what this really means is you are a genuinely nice guy, other girls will be fixing you up because they think you are a great catch, but they themselves don't want to go out with you. Finally, you will find the needle in the haystack and discover your better half and live happily ever after. But it ain't with her.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) I guess I just look at the way Israel is, Iran's probable involvement in Iraq, and the general climate in the area and I can't help but think if we wait that out we'll probably be there another 1000 years--especially after the recent parliament bombing. I don't think we can just leave now, but I really don't see us ever winning or even breaking even on this. No evil dictator, no WMD, we have already won. Trying to stop a religious civil war ain't ever going to happen. That's like calling a victory here when we end gang violence. If we are waiting for that day, it ain't ever coming. As soon as we get that through our skulls, we may start understanding why we can leave soon or much later and it won't make a difference. -
My brother would be alive today if he had not done a couple of these drank enough beer to register a .31 decided to drive didn't wear a seatbelt hit a big ass tree at 45 mph Prayers for the Governor.

How fast does Imus have an XM gig? Or at his age, grab a hoe, plant some veggies, retire to the ranch, and call it a career.

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) Are you using Vista? For the CNN videos, Ive had the same problem with some videos where it tells me I need to download windows media player and I already have the latest version. I think they just havent updated for Vista yet. As far as the Soxtalk problem the only thing I have noticed is sometimes when I hit fast reply the box doesnt show up but usually if i hit it once or twice more it does. Yes, running Vista and the CNN problem has been blogged to death. This one is the pain because I dislike using IE.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 10:36 AM) If she is hung up on another guy, I wouldn't bother. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) Those kind of relationships pretty much always bomb because she is still trying to fix the last relationship. I wouldn't kill myself for her if I was you. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) Call her up and cancel on her now. Just tell her something came up and you'll talk to her later. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) get ready for her bf to "accidently" see you guys together IMO this is just asking to be a part of a major pain in the ass situation. etc etc etc Run, don't walk away.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) OK, IMus, a rich, white male makes his comments about some (poor?) black females about a week ago. As a result of his comments, they faced no jail time, and weren't indicted on anything like aggrevated hoeing, or even misdemeanor nappy-headingness. For this, Imus is fired, after about a week. It took the Rutgers women a little over a week to get their 'justice' for a slight that hurt their feelings. On the other side you have Crystal Gail Mangum, a poor, black woman. And, you know, a whore, a criminal, a thief, and a perjurer. She makes comments about the Duke 3, who are indicted for one of the worst crimes possible by not only the DA, but by the media and just about every feminist group in the world. They faced 25 years or more in jail because of those comments, and it took them a year to get justice. No wait, Nifong is still employed, at least at this moment, along with his bosses, the guy who helped him hide the DNA evidence, etc. Who's the more agreived party here, the Duke 3 or the women basketball players? With the way CBS is acting now, you would think being called a nappy headed ho is worse than rape. Imus was an idiot, but this overreaction is just wrong. CBS had no problems with all the money he made for them, maybe they should donate the profits from his shows over the last year or so to Nappy-headed Hoes Anonomyous, or something. You know, get rid of that tainted money. While it is always dangerous to compare two disimilar events, in this case the parallels are compelling. Great post.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) Well Josh Beckett is supposed to be the second coming according to the mainstream media, considering his arsenal of pitches and mental toughness (physically, not so much) he should have been a whole lot better than he was last season. At a certain point, if his pitchers aren't performing Varitek needs to lose that distinction since there are no results to lend credence to this theory. That is easy to agree with. The pitching coach should also share the blame/credit. But if there was one position I want a veteran presence, someone who has been on a winning side of a WS. Perhaps down a tough pennant race, some playoff experience, it would be catcher. -

QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) why you guys care about the rock and roll HOF is beyond me. How is that museum seen as any sort of vindication? Good point. I guess based on the other inductees people look at other bands and think they belong.
