  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) I'm SHOCKED that Pelosi's major fubar on saying Isreal was ready for peace talks with Syria hasn't been mentioned. Now this is where Nancy should have STFU. And this is why she's dangerous as hell, because she's going off on her own agenda. What is the correct agenda and who set it?

  4. Mark will settle down and all is well is Soxdom today.
  5. I'm feeling good about this game. 5-3 Sox win.
  6. Mark is on the mound, the season has now started
  7. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) Mariotti is a complete moron. He said he was rooting for the Sox to win the World Series in 2005 but I'm sure he secretly was hoping the Sox wouldn't win it all. And we all know that he wants to Cubs to win so much more than the White Sox. What kind of person who supposevily is supposed to represent his home town team would say he "smirkily" watched the past 2 games. What Mariotti is, is a pathetic jealous prick who is still mad that after hammering the White Sox to spend like the Cubs in the early 2000's, Kenny Williams proved him wrong and won it all, something his precious Cubs can't do. Funny. Cub fans hate him too.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) In theory, this seems all right, but there are some ethics things that worry me. We have already had a problem with candidates raising money from forgein sources in exchange for services to be rendered. It isn't a long leap of faith to imagine a person or persons giving the promise of something to a forgein government in exchange for supporing their campaign somehow. This pretty much happens on a daily basis with in the US, and it scares me to think how easy a trip like this could turn into something like that. I don't like the idea of forgein government having multiple entities to deal with on these levels. There is just way too big of a chance of impropriety. Agreed. I also think we should stay out of foreign elections as well. Does it also concern you that we borrow billions from foreign banks to stimulate our economy? That seems more disconcerning to me. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) Well, I think it's all crap, no matter which party is involved. The role of the Congress is to deal with matters at home. The executive deals with foreign affairs. They're creating a situation whereby the system can be manipulated. What if she gets goodie-goodie with the Prez of Syria? What if he refuses to work with Bush and demands Pelosi do x, y, z? She (or whoever else does it) is usurping the power that was intended for the Executive alone. But it's not much of a surprise. The original form of government contemplated by the founding fathers continues to whither away. I'd really like to know how they feel about the President being in charge of just about everything these days thanks to his status in the media. I'd bet Jefferson is turning in his grave as he watches the Fed government gain so much power, the Executive branch in particular. I don't think we have anywhere in our constitution where there is no checks and balances and oversite. I don't want any President to work untethered and unchecked. I also expect our elected leaders to know what is happening all over the world. Budgeting is a huge part of their jobs and if we are spending money on it, I want the officials to know what is going on.
  9. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) Well, the main difference with that is almost everyone here wanted the Sox to succeed, and I truly believe that Hysteriotti roots for failure because an angry column is 1,000 times easier to write than a congratulatory one. He's a miserable little troll who unfortunately has far too great a presence for my liking. Valid point. But the truth is he mimics Sox fans almost 100% and it's funny how the same posters that agree with him, get mad at him. And perhaps the most ironic part if he did post his columns here, he wouldn't even be the most negative poster.

    Rocking on!

I'm glad I don't waste that much time around here. Congratulations to a poster who actually adds intelligence to this site, so that I can subtract from it.
  11. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) The only email I'd ever send to Hysteriotti would include just one thing: this link to Eric Zorn's beautiful column detailing Jaybird's hysterical flip-flopping during the 2005 season. http://blogs.chicagotribune.com/news_colum...ariottis_y.html He would have fit in really well around here. I think it is so funny for any Sox fan to complain about flip flopping. There was many a day in '05 that I was the only person here who actually thought the skid was good and would help the post season. We have a lot of Mariottis here who post the same stuff that Mariotti publishes. This aint rocket science. Almost any fan can come up with the same stuff that is published daily in every newspaper in North America.
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) You headhunting Bushwhacker! Hammer Time '08
  13. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 09:11 AM) Read the damn thread. Although the first post shoulda been in green, and I think Balta caught on, but you didn't, obviously. Are you Dubya's fault? More of a universal comment. I should have picked a better thread to drop that in.
  14. It is kind of scary what we do allow.
  15. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) 'Cause after all, it's all Mr. Bush's fault. What a crock of s***. Has Bush done anything wrong during his administration? I agree he gets blamed for too much stuff, every President does, but as soon as anyone dares to criticize Dubya, you pull out the b.s. or pull into Hyperbole Drive. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:24 AM) Think we'll give the same gift and return the Iranian folks we seized while they were in Iraq on diplomatic visits? Anyway, I'm going to be really, really happy if this does end. I need to fill up my gas tank here pretty soon. And I still don't like Mr. Bush having anything resembling a Causus Belli. Latin geek But that does segue into studying the writing of Thucydides, which should probably be required for anyone wishing to understand Bush.
  16. The really good stuff in cereal is listed here!
  17. You are leaving out Porky's. What a nightmare for their family.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 07:40 AM) So you don't see the ability to communicate with your peers as a valid reason for having a language that everyone speaks? Down here, that would be Spanish. But I won't force you to learn it, I couuld see shifting the cost burden of translating to the individual. Some people will be cheated by unethical translators, but the courts shuld be able to handle that. Unless things have changed, speaking English will not prevent you from entering the military.
  19. I didn't get double billed. I'm also not impressed with Mosiac and the 700 connection kept bouncing me out.
  20. I've become a huge fan of the college world series. I had planned on heading up year to catch a few games, but my schedule would not allow for it.
  21. It's going to sound a little silly, and perhaps hyperbole, but this may be the best public service an NBA player has done in a long time.
  22. Cost effective is about the only reason I can see. It is costly for our government to offer that level of customer service to citizens. Businesses have a profit motive to welcome non English speakers. This is all about what level of service that the Government should offer to the people that are paying the bill.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Peace Thome. UGH Time for 6-4-3 Konerko game over Smells like one
