QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) In both cases, its someone changing their views to get elected. I was about to write, I agree, changing to get elected is wrong. But I'm wondering, If they stay consistent with that new view, is it wrong? If they say, as President I will do this, even if it is opposite what they did as a Governor, Senator, etc. is that so bad? You are getting what you voted for and isn't that what we should expect? Now if they change back after the election, I'd be at the front of the impeachment line. But if they tell be they are Pro-X, even after voting Anti-X, and stay Pro-X as promised, I'm not certain I'm that upset. This also goes to an old debate of how a Senator should vote. If 55% or 90% whatever of his constitutes would vote Yes, does he have the moral obligation as a "representative of those people" to vote Yes? Or should he follow his own conscious (providing he has one and still got elected).

  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) Car got broken into last night. Step 1. filed police report. Then what? Call the insurance company? What type of insurance do I need have my $300 radar detector covered for? Who fixes my glass? I was told to go to a car dealership, but then I heard people can come to your work an do it. The radar detector will vary based on your policy and how it was mounted. They sometimes will have exclusions for after market accessories. You also will have to pay your deductible, which in many policies is different, and separate, from the glass.

QUOTE(Heartattack19 @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) Hopefully the sale of the land to developoers does not go through, the Chicago Area Council seems to be as corrupt as they get..... Not so much corruption as too many egos thinking they know what is best for the Council.
  8. Here's my point. I'd love for the debate to be, we've been too extravagant, we're going to cut this expense. Not, we're going to do the same as the previous. Wouldn't it be great if the Dems and Reps tried to out do each other for the public good? How about, now that we're in power we're going to do better and not take the spoils. But sadly, the Dem faithful will not push the Dems to do that. Instead we'll point to what the GOP did and say what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 12:27 AM) It would have been the other way around for me -- less time having fun, more focused on rank. I was sitting on 'Life' for nearly two years before completing Eagle several months shy of my 18th birthday. I have to imagine you've traveled to Owasippe a few times, no? My son made Life at 12 and Eagle at 16 almost 17. Lots of fun in-between. Philmont (returning this summer) One of my Scouts made Life at 12 and is wondering which is happening first, his 18th birthday or his Eagle Board of Review. BTW, I have a couple openings for camp staff here Aquatics Director and camp medic (First responder, EMT, nurse, etc.)

Reality show. it's all you need.
  11. Just wondering how many states also say their state pledge in school as well. The pledge of allegiance to the Texas state flag is "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible." Lesser states probably don't even have one . . .

  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) I know that this is a snide little payback stunt by Murtha, but still I want to see this done on a much more regular basis. I think the world should know how Congress wastes their money. As long as it's let's do better, not "we can waste as much as you". I can't wait for the public to say, you're both wrong; instead of what my side did was wrong, but you did it first.

  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) These 2 guys get some bonus points. Especially Flake. Acting responsibly, like both parties should expect their members to act,QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) This should prove to be an entertaining reply. No doubt the media who wasted a week blaming Pelosi for something she didn't even do will ignore it, but it'll still be fun to see. This one has a ring of retaliation and if true, I'm not very proud of the Dems. The timing smells.

  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) Quiet Commie BTW, good for you for standing up to the asshole parent. I kinda wish our system had more of those in a way, because our big problem is that the parents just don't care. I can't tell you how many parents my wife has talked to whose response was "And?" Exactly what I was thinking. My response to parents who complain is to think of something I could have them volunteer to do. She is unhappy with the patriotic response to the pledge, let her head up a Veterans Day program or something the school would like done but doesn't have paid staff to accomplish.

  21. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 08:19 AM) And this sad part of the story I place directly into the laps of the people who soak up all this garbage every day. That tape doesn't sell for 500k or anything else if not for the celebrity rubberneckers. Its the people who spend all day reading websites and magazines like that who pay that money, not the media companies. I'm sorry but I just don't get the obsession people have with the personal lives of the galactically overpaid. Some of the same people that provide the income for those celebs when they are living. Biographies are among the most popular books of all time. The difference is over the past 50 years we have created disposable biographies in the form of magazines, tv, web sites, etc. Instead of the Biography of Ben Frankllin years after his death, we get Ben in Love's Nest, is Penny saved this woman??

  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:27 AM) Kinda like those baseball players who have talent and use it to get a huge contract... Which IIRC correctly some here were fully supportive of just a few weeks ago. Exactly. And the ones who are playing for $25 a night and those that are playing for millions are both called professional ball players or whatever.
  25. Reason #3 I am giving in this thread for heat over cold. Do you want to watch good looking people adding layers or taking them off? Cold Lover: "I'd love to see that new woman in compliance in long underwear, two pairs of socks, a turtleneck, sweater, long pants, parka, gloves, artic boots, hat, face mask, scarf . . ." Hot Lover: "I'd love to see that new woman in compliance at the beach . . ."
