  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) I'm sure they're just wanting to make sure the media is 'scooped' going into the weekend. If they all were just 'silent' the backlash would be incredible. If only I was a GOPer and received the special government briefing that makes talking to the press unimportant. Press = Public: It's the only way for citizens who care can stay informed. Which is probably an old fashioned value that doesn't fit with today's get it from blogs and Rush world.

    QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 12:42 PM) Lieberman has only an 11 point lead, and is under 50%, in the Conn. Dem. Primary against challenger Ned Lamont. Given Lamont's name recognition is probably 10% right now, that's a lot of trouble for Joementum. He could always run as a Republican later
  4. I was about to add this QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) This thread needs to die. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Somebody call Cheney. It's YASNY's funniest contribution
  5. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Somebody call Cheney. LMAO
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Oh, I'd innoculate a whole s***load of liberals. So then only half the people here would be dumb asses . . .
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Because there's no such thing as a dumbass vaccine. Wow, I didn't know you were looking for one And that doesn't mean I really think *you* need one
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) This thread needs to die. Why? Did you see Harry? He looked great. Chaney had a nice speech in Wyoming, it's all coming together with great news. Why rain on the good news?
  9. Harry has his in Texas, minutes later Dick starts in Wyoming, then Bush is in Tampa. coincidence? Both parties do it, I'm getting whiplash trying to catch them all. Now Rummy is getting going. Is anyone working at the White House?
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) They don't keep track of the latter. They may not publish it, but with the impact it has in lost concession revenues, parking, etc. you can bet they track attendance through the turnstile. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) They sure do. They have to track it by law. There is a maximum capacity, and in case of a tregedy, they need to know how many are there.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 07:02 AM) Could you please point out where in the Texas hunting code it saids that you have to report hunting accidents to the press, and how long is proper to wait for a news confrence afterwards? I did some research for y'all and found this

  15. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) Whittington is speaking now. He looks fine. Isn't answering any questions
  16. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) Ah-ha. I'm like NASA, I get English and metrics confused at inappropriate times. Mrs. FlaSoxx is researching false advertising claims along the same lines . . .

    QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) This is my first, and probably only, post in this thread but I felt I had something to add. All service members, in addition to budgeted raises, get automatic pay hikes when they reach certain levels of time in service. You get a hike at 2,3,4 years then every other year until you're done unless you sit at the same rank for too long then your pay for that grade will cap out. Using myself as an example, Im currently a Staff Sergeant and approaching my 8 year anniversery. Once I hit it ( September 1st of this year ) my base pay will go from 2465 a month to 2685 ( a hike of 8.9% ). Not included are the tax-free allowances for food and housing which amount to roughly 1000 a month for my area. Point of all that number crunching is that the pay hikes proposed in the budget are not the only time we get a raise. You are in a great union* There are so many jobs in the public sector that are underpaid, weighing the risks against the financial rewards, a first year soldier in a war zone has to be the most underpaid person in the US. Of course the guys they are shooting are probably even worse off. Less pay and s***ty weapons. *won't be his only
  18. I am certain the Bush Administration has looked into this, and if they are comfortable, then I am. I can't believe they went into this blindly.
  19. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) A 19-page thread dedicated to a hunting accident? BTW, if you are on broadband, you can change the number of posts per page to a higher number. This is only a 6 page thread
  20. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) I totally agree in disclosing as much as you can as fast as you can. However, how fast is fast enough? It is very easy to look back after everything has played out and say: "They could have done this or that faster or different." The thing about all of this is, HE JUST SHOT A FRIEND. Put yourself in those shoes. How long would it take for the shock to wear off? How long before you got your bearings? I cannot imagine shooting a friend in the face, and seeing them in the ICU. Then, to come up with the perfect way of doing things? I would try to give myself as much time as possible to be able to clearly discuss what happened. On the surface, that certainly makes sense, until you realize what his primary job responsibility is and why we have a Vice President. Should we be worried that it would take the Vice President of the US almost a day to collect himself and be able to comment? What would he do if Bush died suddenly and he had to take charge?
  21. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) We've been doing targeted killings of terrorists ever since 9/11. I guess the prerequisite for doing some necessary dirty work is losing 3000 of your own citizens in a single attack huh? Then change the laws. Do it above board, and legally. The GOP has control, introduce a bill that we will assasinate terrorists on site. Let the world know we will not follow International Laws. We will operate the same as the terrorists, so we can stop terrorism.

  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?p...A61251-2001Oct2 This is why people trust Republicans to handle security affairs more than Democrats. While they dithered around splitting hairs over legal technicalities Bush would have simply scooped him up and eliminated him.........either that or whacked him with a Predator Drone. I guess you don't have a problem with the President authorizing illegal activities that would violate US and International Law?
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) I think you're a bit mistaken there. The Checkers speech was given in 1952. Watergate was in 1972. Bob was 9 years old and Carl was 8. Oops, you are correct. Thank you for pointing that out.

    QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) Dude, you got every one of those wrong! I'm not voting as my favorite, but as "rock" songs and Baba O'Reilly is a rock song, I have a problem with the Beatles choices here. And how could we not have had Stairway in the mix? Classic Rock.
