QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) True Fact: J.S. Bach drank 36 cups of coffee each day. I read a paper on Bach's minuets back in college and got hung up on the description of the persistent two-bar hypermeter phrasing he maintains during most of those zippy little numbers. It turns out he was completely hopped up on cafeine the whole time, so that explains a lot. WTF did Jim just say? For the love of God, someone get me a PhD to English dictionary

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) Damn, growing up in Iowa must be a b****. You ain't never had a beer? QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) Hammer, it's in the details. I believe we have a linguist in the William Clinton tradition. Note: Officially QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) Hmmm, you're probably right. I need some coffee. I guess it would be funner if we all had a beer

QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) I bring a thermos to work everyday. Coffee (the caffeine) doesn't do anything for me. I can drink 20 cups and go straight to bed. On the weekends, during the winter, I drink coffee from the moment I wake until I go to sleep at night. I just keep adding coffee into the strainer and water to the machine. I have a system. wait until you get older . . .

  11. QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) Wait a minute--does this mean vegetarians could eat it? It doesn't come from an animal, which means they should be able to eat it...right? I was just thinking the same thing. Hey, Soxy, care to comment?

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) I've never had coffee and I still have 15 months before I can officially drink beer, so I don't know....... But remember, Vote! It's your patriotic duty as an American
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) And when we do win will go away and stop screaming that the sky is falling? I swear lately you are on a one man mission to piss on everything to do with the White Sox... shhhh, he's busy worrying and being a real fan
  14. I think it's funny that some Sox fans are so thin skinned. With our historic lack of success, you would think that nothing could phase us. Once you get outside Chicago and the homers, there is a big world of sports announcers, pundits, talking heads, columnists, hosts, and most don't drink the White Sox koolaid. Mariotti is reporting and writing what 80-90% of the world is reporting and writing. I have to agree a little with Aboz, Hawks can sometimes take his Sox PR duties a little too extreme. Crede and Uribe over Jeter and A-Rod GMAFB. Hell, most of this board has wanted Crede's ass a time or two. And Crede over A-Rod? LMAO. But I am a big fan of Hawk's announcing. I love a homer announcing the game. But Hawks, quit being an apologist for the team.

As I was reaching into my fridge for some cream for my coffee, I noticed a lone bottle of Shiner Boch, it looked so sad by inself, and wondered which was more important, a steaming cup of coffee in the morning, or a beer at the end of the day. Tough call.

  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:05 AM) When our soldiers come home and complain about the press coverage they see being heavily slanted, then I'd say there must me a glimmer of truth in their claims. But, that's just me. When White Sox fans look at the team's national coverage they see bias. When GOPers see the news, they see bias When Dems see the news, they see bias Headline: Chicago 3,000,000 Drivers Arrived Safely To Work Real Headline: 8 Car Accident Snarls Edens If the press started ignoring the death toll and reporting "happy news" there would be outrage the other way that their sacrifice was going unnoticed. The best definition of news is that it is a rough draft of history. Read most history books, building a school isn't included, wars and famine are. The dust bowl is history making, record crop production, is not. Is the coverage what the GIs would want? Probably not. Would that channel have high rating? No.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) Oh, shoot, I was just thinking the fattest person on the island would be the best choice... you know, in case I got tired of eating fish and coconuts. Linkage
  19. These guys just amaze me. I understand the competitive desire and ego that it takes to put in the work to become an NFL player. But once there, don't they realize that everyone else around them has about the same talent and desire?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) What about the Skipper? er, I mean, Mmm, Ginger. I'm sorry, I should have continued If you picked the Skipper, you probably are winodj (but I'm guessing he's a Professor guy)
  21. http://www.local6.com/news/4851623/detail.html More at link Hmmm, where have a heard this before? I think we should just form it into pills. Maybe have a red, yellow, and an especially nutrient packed green one . . .

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) 12 pages later and many still didn't understand the idea of the thread... Let me try graphically If you picked Ginger Grant, this isn't the thread If you picked Mary Ann Summers, you are getting closer If you picked Eunice Wentworth 'Lovey' Howell, YOU GOT IT! This is the thread.
  23. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Yeah keep talking about them. Pretty soon you'll stop worrying about other teams are start worrying about Boston passing us up in 1st place for the AL. nite? ahhhh we're the fans, not the players. I think we can have fun and let the team worry. I'm pretty certain that none of us will have to grab a glove and play left. But, I will bite. How exactly are you worrying about Boston? Are you working the worry beads? Reading all the Boston papers? Lighting candles? I just don't know how to worry about Boston in a constructive manner.
  24. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Guess why that explains why the Braves keep winning. Organizations need to take chances, if it wasnt for any of them taking chances. You never hear about K-Rod , Jaret Wright (rookie season) , Miguel Cabrerra ( 19 year old ) just to name a few. Be opened minded , average MLB talent.. I'll take my chances with the guy in AA who hanst done anything and the guy in AAA who is going to " be an average to abover average (at best)" in the next year or 2. To be successful, those chances have to pan out. Just taking chances is like playing the lotto.
  25. The White Sox pay Hawk's salary. MLB teams hire and fire their announcers. Hawk is just sucking up to the boss. Sad actually. He's a great announcer until he gets involved in office politics and sucking up for the team.
