  1. There are probably at least 1,000 guys world wide who have the talent to play 2nd base in the MLB. It's attitude and desire that makes the difference.
  2. Will Oz's manners put fans in the seats, or keep them away? I'm guessing he's going to be a draw. In some ways I see some Dikta in Oz. I believe a quick analysis would have been better along with an Ozzism, but he's acting like a Chicago guy. I think changing his name to Ozzie Rogalski would be the final icing on the cake.
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 22, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) That article incited a bunch of people to riot so your attempt at sarcasm falls flat. I didn't realize that so many people read Newsweek over there. Like the prisoner abuse story, much of this was told for weeks from person to person, in country, before the Newsweek story. And if America media is held in such high regard by these extremists, why aren't they throwing roses at our feet after listening to Rush? Certainly they would have become dittoheads by now. Amazing that people who would take up arms against the US government would wait for a Newsweek article before taking action.
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) This is exactly what Mariotti's deal is... He isn't trying to write about the facts. He's trying to stir up s***, just to sell newspapers. Even Cubs fans don't respect his worthless hide and if you lived in Chicago you would know that no one does. If you can't see that, well, I'm sorry. I lived in Chicago for 38 years, and am very familiar with Mariotti. Every column he writes sets off Sox fans. If it's negative, he's a moron, if it's positive, he's a band wagon jumper. If you can't see that anything, no matter what, he writes is criticized by some Sox fans, then I'm sorry. Almost all the complaints sound the same. That mean boy on the playground Jay is saying mean stuff again. Guess what? Not everyone thinks the Sox are the greatest franchise ever. Get over it. Perhaps 90 years without a WS and a playoff appearance once a decade isn't so great for a team in a major market. Wow! Even Cub fans? I had no idea. Now I'll whine and moan like everyone else no matter what he writes. at anyone that looks to Cub fans for justification.
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 07:31 AM) LOL, wow. Mariotti is the biggest flip-flopping piece of crap in the world. If the Sox lose 4 games in a row to the Angels he will be the first one to say, "I TOLD YOU SO!" and that our team is a sham and never had a chance to begin with. He IS a moron and I can't believe you are defending the guy. This guy changes his mind more than John Kerry. :rolly A moron would keep saying this team is the same as 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. The team is different. Did YOU love the results from the 2003 or 2004 team? Would you have written the same articles in 1999 as 2005? If this team was 19 games under .500 instead of 19 game over .500 would you write the same article? His job is to write about the team. When things are going right, that's one kind of article, when it goes wrong that's another. I can' stand the whining like third graders that a commentator said something mean about the team. Every article he's either a bandwagon jumper or a moron. Sox fans only want to hear happy news. Instead of pointing out that Shingo isn't producing the same results as last season, Sox fans want a piece on how Shngo is now the worlds greatest setup man!! Mommy mommy he's saying something mean. Sox fans watching the news
  6. Let's see if he accurately reports that a team is one of the biggest surprises on baseball and for real, he's are a bandwagon jumper. If he continues to rip the team, he's an asshole. Nice to see Jay has so many good options here with Sox fans. No matter what he writes, most of the people here will find some childish way to rip him. Remember anyone who writes that we do not have the greatest franchise in history is a moron. Sox fans can only read a homer who tells us what we want to hear. Mommy, Mommy, Jay is saying mean things about me!
  7. chisox.com article. Carl saying all the right things for an elder statesman to say Everyone has a role and Carl is playing his, on and off the field, as well as can be expected. Perfect fit in this machine.

    Mow your own lawn?

Cut the grass? Isn't that sharing your stash with your friends?
  10. Linkage Here Isn't that a nice thing for the Senator from NY to do? GOPerbots, y'all have fun with this, I'm gone for the day.
  11. I think he would be awesome during a radio show. I always enjoy him on the Dan Patrick Show. BTW, that 1987 Draft turned out to be amazing for the league and especially the Bulls
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ May 21, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) Not a shock, as mentioned last nite. If you're going to call him up, get him in a game right away. No use having him sitting on the bench getting nervous. Jump off the board and let's rock. Hopfully he can channel his butterflys and give us 6 solid innings. Then when Steinbrenner comes calling Kenny can hang up on him, and please Kenny hang up.
  13. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 21, 2005 -> 07:38 AM) Now I was cool with all of this and cautiously optimistic that they're just being careful with Hernandez. But it's just stupid to pitch Brandon on Saturday if that's the plan, imo. Contrearas against Zambrano looked like a probable win, while ANYBODY against Prior is likely a loss if he's on. But like people have said, if we already won the series, BMac can relax and just pitch his game and if we win it's gravy. Are they trying to drop two to the Cubs? What am I missing here, guys? Brandon was scheduled to pitch Friday, maybe they thought sticking as close as possible to his regular schedule would be in his best interest and gives Contrearas an extra day.
  14. QUOTE(chisoxtime @ May 20, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Hi everyone. Im new to the board. I have been reading both this board and WSI, and I have to say that this is a much better board. The boards are about the same, but we have better posters Boards don't entertain and inform people, people do. Welcome to Soxtalk
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 21, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) Just remember folks, even if B-Mac doesn't pitch great in his 1st start, and a Cubs fan tries to heckle you for it, just counter it with; "Oh yeah, well at least he's better than Angel Guzman!" I'd go with, "hey, we brought up a AAA guy to play a AAA team. Just trying to be fair."
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 20, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) I had it done. No pain, was at work less than 24 hours later. But I did develop dry socket later. Incredibly painful. Horrible--a million times worse than having my teeth out. So, uh, don't get that.... I had three done at once, then a water main broke and they couldn't finish the fourth. That evening I played 18 holes without any pain or discomfort, and I'm a woos about pain. I thought anyone who complained about a simple tooth extration was a baby. The fourth was a horse of a different color. I developed "dry socket" (insert KY joke here) at about 1 am. The rest of the night I slept like a baby, that means waking up every 30 minutes, crying and screaming, wanting my mommy, and nothing would make me feel better.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) Is Ross Gload on a rehab... and lonely? I don't think Ross would have to be lonely just mentioning she's Chisoxy should be enough.

    Mow your own lawn?

About seventeen years ago I created a self propelled lawn mower operator. It took about 14 years of changing diapers, middle of the night feedings, and other events too numerous to list, but it finally works, intermittently, when it is out of it major source of sustenance ($$) or needs an alternative, internal combustion form of transportation, the family car. No, I don't cut my own grass.
  19. The Corps is the M in A&M and a major tradition going back generations.
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 20, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) Texan. Texan, forced to visit Kentucky
  21. Fighting yesterday's battles today. It just doesn't work. I thought our society was at a point where the boy in question was free to do what *he* wants, not what society is forcing him to do and how to behave.
