  1. I'm confused by your question(s) Are terrorists stupid? Probably not. Research has found that for some reason high IQ people tend to become more dogmatic and vulnerable to terrorist causes. Are they "behind" technology? Are they developing technology? Inventing new stuff, I doubt it. Can they afford to pay scientists to create things for them? Yes. One of the scarier by products of breaking up the USSR was their scientists had no income, no budgets for research. Yet they had skills that could earn them a nice salary for a Bin Laden.

    Civilians in Iraq

A long time ago my career goal was as a war correspondent. A part of me stil would like to go and cover the war. And the extra $2000 wouldn't make a difference. Risking my life for $20 or $2000 is equally insane.
  3. That's it I'm leaving I really mean it this time I didn't mean it the other 5 times I've left No really, this time for sure

    Nuke, you can't answer this
  5. man, that thread sounded like a love fest compared to some on SL&P. This is why it is good we have some thick skinned targets around here.
  6. I remember during the Watergate hearings the networks rotated who got stuck airing the hearings while the higher ratings went to the soap operas. THere was a big debate about the public trust and airwaves, and a lack of choice in coverage, etc. Today, there will be coverage from ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News, CNN, Al Jazeer, you name it. I say as long as more than a couple air the conference, dale gas.

    60 US States?

Mondo Washington by James Ridgeway The Game Of Risk In which the pentagon rolls the dice and adds states to the U.S. April 6th, 2004 12:00 PM eaders still puzzling over what makes Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld tick will gain new insight into the "energizer bunny" from Thomas P.M. Barnett's The Pentagon's New Map: War and Peace in the 21st Century, a book to be released this spring by Putnam. A defense analyst at the Pentagon, Barnett has laid out an elaborate strategy paper that serves as a de facto planning document for Rumsfeld and the rest of the Bush administration in their implementation of globalization. In it, Barnett rationalizes the workings of the modern empire, ends up creating a "story line for the future," and sets out a "hopeful image," which includes the overthrow of the North Korean government, the makings of a democratic Iraq as "globally connected" as Israel, an overthrow of the mullahs in Iran, and new territorial acquisitions by the U.S. "The United States will admit new members to its union in coming decades, and these will come first from the Western Hemisphere, but over time from outside as well," he writes. "By 2050 the United States could include a dozen more states. The first president of Mexican heritage will be elected directly from a Mexico state. But this historical pathway will not be contiguous, as we have learned in the case of Hawaii and Alaska, and there is nothing wrong with cherry-picking the best economies as an inducement for harmonizing economic policies throughout the Western Hemisphere." Why not start off with a bang by dumping Cheney and installing Vicente Fox as vice president?
  8. FOX DEBATES: 'AMERICAN IDOL' OVER BUSH PRESS CONFERENCE The White House scheduling of President Bush's formal press conference tomorrow night at 8:30 PM ET has thrown FOX-TV and its top-rated AMERICAN IDOL into chaos, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. FOX executives on Monday afternoon wrestled over whether to postpone this week's lucrative live IDOL showdown for the White House. The Bush 8:30 PM press conference is set to run approximately 45 minutes, leaving a non-interrupted IDOL hour a scheduling impossibility during FOX's 8 to 10 PM primetime block. IDOL commands the largest audience in television, with viewership levels passing 23 million in recent weeks. One top executive argued Monday afternoon that the show should go forward -- with an on-screen disclaimer directing viewers to FOX NEWS channel for Bush coverage. No final decision has made as this transmits.
  9. Sometimes it is gross national earning as computed from tax returns divided by the number of families. And they do try and account for "missing" people.
  10. My club use to have a little tournament where we would pick a player and combine their score with ours. The year that Payne Stewert beat him, I picked Lefty with about the 3rd or 4th pick in our draft and everyone thought I was crazy. I just hoped everyday his wife didn't go into labor. If you remember he had the jet fueled and ready to go if she went into labor. I have to respect anyone that has his priorities that straight.

$1.25 to wash and $.50 mi to dry, but I needed an extra $.25 cycle on some of it. So it was more like $20

    I know I'm crazy

In the interest of being helpful around the casa, I decided to do the laundry. We were backed up and there was about 8 or 9 loads to be done. (Active family of 4). Instead of using our nice washer and dryer, I like to pack everything up and head to the laundromat. I can complete 8 loads in an hour or two and bring everything home folded or on hangers. Seems much better and faster than doing a load at a time all day long. The laundromat has those nice big tables for folding and I can watch Mexican soap operas. Anyone else prefer the laundromat to doing laundry at home?

Be vigilant and do not trust the government to do the right thing. Be active, protest, make your voice heard. ALso, when the government is doing the right thing, make certain they know you agree. You can trace the problems with 9/11 back to the Revolutionary War if we wanted to. At the very least, the blame flows back to Reagan, Bush, Bush, and Clinton. But there are always little tips and oments in time that tradegies could be avoided. Look at Pearl Harbor, we had messages of the Japanese planes heading our way and didn't believe them.

    Just Chatting

I'm in the home stretch with a couple of my classes and almost cannot wait for the semester to be finished. All my classes this semester turned out great. I'm trying to decide wether to put in a some extra effort and possibly earn A's in all of them or pay attention to work and the Sox.
