  1. That's a great question. Closer, a position that TLR practically invented, seems to be that spot that no one is the potential suitor but everybody is.
  2. Most happen during the gift giving and receiving season.
  3. Rookies are streaky. I'd rather have a MLB proven guy and allow AV another year of MiLB experience.
  4. Lol. As a former screw off in high school I love dealing with jerk kids. I'm usually the second jerk and I will have the class on my side. These guys are adults. We've all worked with talented assholes and survived.
  5. Six people on campus tested positive today. Sigh. So far no evidence of anyone catching it on campus.
  6. I thought an old article popped up. Sigh at least this will bring us back to some good news . . . Good news Ricky is out Bad news TLR is in. Good news Lynn is in Bad news Eaton is back. Good news . . . I'm kind of yeah, ok, shut up and play and we'll be fine about the move.

Sox history would have been split between the time they were in Chicago and after the move without that SOB JR coming in and keeping the team in Chicago.

Exactly why I said contribution to the game. I believe character should matter and Baines is a stand up guy that you want your kids looking up to. I'm not saying DA isn't, but few people are in Baines' class when it comes to integrity and honor. But I agree as a player DA deserves the nod.

I'm going to disagree that Allen is greater than Baines based on total contribution to the game. I think they both are Hall- worthy.
  10. Btw, something to ponder. We're all thinking of him starting game three of the playoffs last year. I'm thinking he starts game 2 which really changes things.
  11. When you're putting up strings of 60 and 70 win seasons being competitive does seem like a dream.
  12. "I want to lose in the first round of the playoffs for five straight seasons instead of winning one world series" said almost no fan ever.
  13. If you think this is overpaying, wait until the trade deadline and the team needs a piece. You got two old timers in key decision making positions who want that feeling one more time. There is no 2022 in their plans.
  14. Here's how I'm evaluating any trade for this year. Which player do I want on the road in game 6 of the world series? If it's the guy we got, I'm fine with the trade. If I don't want the guy that left, even better. I can't think of a guy that fits that mold that isn't also a guy to get us to that point.

I remember watching him in person at a game. I was really young but I remember the crowd mood shifting and that anticipation, not wanting to miss anything. The next time I felt that at a game was Frank and he took it to a completely different level.
  16. This is what win now looks like.
  17. What an ass. I did think Rudy was a decent major.
  18. Wow. Not everybody loves him. Wow. Not everybody hates him. When was he arrested last? That's really all I'm interested in now a days.
  19. I have to believe there are a hundred doctors that could fill that role making this symbolic as much as strategic. I love the move.
  20. A good friend of mine just tested positive. His son caught it a month ago. His daughter in a separate case last week. He just didn't dodge it enough. He was the most careful of the golf coaches I saw regularly.

Yes. I can't believe preemptive pardons are even a thought.
  22. My restaurant situation is similar. I know everyone by name there and it's 99% take out. Plus he sanitizes like crazy between customers, his business depends in it. Most of our shows are at a hotel banquet facility and I see the steps they are taking to stay safe, and I'm comfortable enough there to perform.
  23. I'm guilty of being inconsistent. My job puts me at risk that I try to mitigate as best as possible. I'm rarely without a mask, but there is one restaurant I will dine in at. I am careful to keep my distance from strangers but my assistant coach is basically in my family. I am wearing a mask during practice but my players are not and I'm close for more than a few minutes. I few months back I visited a winery and enjoyed a few glasses of wine and food but stayed 15 to 20 feet away from anyone. My theater group is performing but in my roll I'm wearing a mask and keeping my distance. "Family" extends to my kid's spouse's families as well. I'm getting haircuts but not as often as I usually would. I've picked up books from the library because I trust the head librarian than the books have been quarantined. Bottom line for the last three weeks we've had at least one student each day test positive, today we had two. One of my players has symptoms and is self quarantining while waiting on a test. With all the risks at work what I do personally doesn't seem as risky if I could work from home.

I'm thinking I'll be consistent no matter who the president is with this call to action. The president should not be allowed to pardon someone for a crime the president was involved in or benefited from.
  25. I assume some people will start calling it the US Flu?
