Investing for Beginners
My entry was a mutual fund that I literally just kept adding money into and barely looked at until I split it with my ex. I got interested in a more active approach, like yourself, and started picking some individual stocks with mixed results. @southsider2k5suggested ETFs and my results have improved greatly. QQQM has been very good to me. NOBL is my safety bet. About half or so I have in stocks are in those two. I know a few people that got started with an Acorns account. Cheap to open. Set your risk levels and they pick the investments. Watch them for a while and you'll gain some insights. For the majority of Americans their best investment is buying a home. Their second biggest is not paying interest on credit cards.

It was until the games industry cratered and Bally moved their video slots and lottery business to Nevada. Fortunately for me telecom exploded shortly after that.

When I was in the electronics industry Bally was my largest customer while nearly every version of Pac-Man was being built. I was a "game tester" and they would send a game to my house. I had to give them back eventually but it was a sweet deal. Most of my friends saw Professor Pac-Man for the first time in my basement.

NYY @ Sox
I know they are at home but I wonder what MLB would do if JR decided road games are too expensive and they stopped traveling.

Assuring Teams are "Trying to Win"
Here's my nightmare scenario "Hey Beni, we need to add two million to your deal to hit the minimum".

I think this goes back to something that has come up a couple times. The Sox not only have to be high bidders for a free agent but by a significant margin. The "we suck as a franchise penalty". Once we have them, moving then gets tough. Would he have played elsewhere for the same money? A million less? Five million less?

The Sox aren't spending "right now"
It's an unscripted reality TV show. Packaged to sell to an audience. And this team has jumped the shark.

24 Summer Olympics Thread
If it would be the same and fair throughout the rest of the world, would you prefer amateurs over NBA stars?

Moncada and Clevinger "returned from rehab assignments"
I was just coming here to post that. Most of the time we would look at his history and blame the staff for mismanaging his earlier injuries, rushing him back to play, etc. We could look at how he plays for a different coaching staff as further proof how bad our managers have been through the years.

Shut him down for the year. He could get hurt.

Crochet cites “mechanical issue” for poor outings
How many times to you have phone recordings if nine year old kids calling 911 begging for help because their friends and teachers are dying?

Crochet cites “mechanical issue” for poor outings
I'm sorry man. My news is filled with the Uvalde records release and as a teacher, reliving this is affecting my mood. In a country where kids can't go to school without worrying about an asshole with an automatic weapon killing them this healthy guy not being able to pitch every five days seems wimpy. But your point is really valid. I'm going to go find happy news or get drunk, maybe both.

Crochet cites “mechanical issue” for poor outings
When did you start thinking he should be shut down?

Crochet cites “mechanical issue” for poor outings
Isn't this the guy that contending teams were going to offer Getz the moon to help their pennant race chances?

Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"
I think they should rotate out every year or two.

And as Sox fans were conditioned to believe the worst will always happen. We probably need to shut down half the roster who are falling apart.

Sure. How many innings next year?

Crochet cites “mechanical issue” for poor outings
Because shutting him down will decrease his trade value. Who wants a guy that can't pitch into September?

Crochet cites “mechanical issue” for poor outings
I wonder how many other guys on the payroll this applies to.

Crochet cites “mechanical issue” for poor outings
I wonder if we were fans of a consistently successful franchise if we would have a different view of our young potential superstar. Most here are holding our breath waiting for his arm to fall off. I wonder if we were Dodger fans if we'd be thinking in two years he's going to be competing for a Cy Young Award and we have team control. Based on our history we have no reason to believe this would actually work out for us, other franchises do have this work out.

He may not need to fix his numbers. If he can throw a few good innings in September that might be enough. Show some sign he can help a team through an entire season.
