  1. Even though he can play at the MLB level let's keep him down so the team can keep another year of control. Exactly the kind of moves fans said were wrong during the lockout.
  2. Lol During the player lockout fans complained about team owners screwing players over like that. Greedy owners putting profits over players. Players deserve the money. Their careers are short.
  3. Getz just had to answer the phone and he's got lots of choices and opportunities. We'll never know the offers, so based on years of experience as fans, we will call his efforts a failure and want him replaced. His boss will stand by him literally until death as this point. The above I believe is an unbiased prediction. The following is based on decades of being a fan. Tuesday at 6:01 pm, the player we didn't trade will go on IR.
  4. I break the season into the start, the middle, and the end. I thought April/May looked really good. By the end of May I thought he'd bring a lot more than what it looks like now.
  5. I totally misread it lol
  6. I'm glad I'm not in Getz's shoes. If no team overspends, and he takes the best deal available, he sucks because he could have gotten more. If he holds and injuries cause value to drop, he sucks for not taking the best deal now. I don't see anyone going all in on a guy that's going to bring contract drama to your team chemistry and potentially fall off the cliff the final month of the season. I'm not seeing the haul I was hoping for when the season started.
  7. Then Getz resigns Benintendi after he's DFA'd. Nets?
  8. I think at least one GM is going in thinking Robert will be energized being on a winning team. It is probably wishful thinking on their part, but could be helpful to us.
  9. What SS kind of buried was my thought that a three or four team deal could be in the works. I've thing that is kind of nice. With so many teams supposedly interested it would be difficult, but not impossible, for the Sox to totally botch this opportunity.
  10. Hemingway, Kerouac, Burroughs, Snyder, Fitzgerald, Bukowski, Capote, . . . It seems most of my favorite authors were drunk.
  11. I was on a committee associated with a developmental agency in South Texas. We were offering lots of incentives for companies to set up manufacturing in Mexico and the free trade zone. I was conflicted when the companies that had been there for a couple decades were hurt by the newcomers with the breaks. Some left for the incentives to keep a level playing field. Churning and churning. Austin and Texas put together a very nice package to get the Tesla plant. Tesla basically offered their employees travel expenses if any of the severe Texas laws interfered with their medical needs.
  12. It should be to maintain the government allowed monopoly. To protect the workers. To justify the many tax breaks they receive from local and state governments.
  13. Somehow he concurrently is Leading a team that absolutely can't win and would be fired to deflect criticism from the rest of the organization. And Deserves to be fired for underperforming his role.
  14. Come on Soxtalk, too much happy talk.
  15. Damn. One less thing to be mad about. Pretty soon there won't be any reason to pay attention.
  16. He was rushed to the majors (tm)
  17. We're going to miss you. Miss you like he's going to miss that third swing.
  18. The team is so bad this is actually worth discussing. If the Sox are playing I find the opposing team's announcers annoying. Listening or watching random games and it seems that any announcing teams are an acquired taste.
  19. I'm trying to think of analogies for this roster move and thinking It's like folding a napkin to prop up a wobbly table in a dive diner at 3:00 am but you keep falling off your chair because you are drunk.
  20. I've always appreciated the understated eloquence of a Sloan Royal Flush II and a Johnson Products urinal puck.
  21. Yeah, I probably should have given it more thought. It's not one of the dozens in twenty years that were actually good. ? More interesting to me is whose sock puppet is it? It's just too random not to be someone with an extra account for such occasions.
  22. Wow, thirteen years to write 238 posts. I feel honored you would choose me to target. Lots of fruit in that thread, maybe try again to see which which piece I took a bite from. I'll look forward to your August post.
  23. I'd hire him in a heartbeat. I wouldn't be playing for the Sox, Boras' players tend to go to teams like the Mets, Dodgers, Astros, etc.
