QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 04:51 PM) This place rocks. Thanks for asking! Are you on a boat? BTW, four times in my career I stepped into a supervisory position. My best advice, you have two eyes, two ears, and one mouth. Use that ratio the first month. Learn he culture, learn the why of the organization.
  3. If you think this was a miscarriage of justice be respectful, and peaceful, and don't bother anyone and it will change.
  4. Our local San Antonio Water and Sewer company offers $100 in landscaping credits if you agree to remove 200 sq feet of lawn and cap any sprinkler heads. We did and picked up the plants and mulch. Less mowing and it was part of our overall design plan anyway. Right now the electric monopoly is here doing an energy inspection, we receive a $15 credit on our bill, and a free programmable, internet controlled, thermostat. The benefit to them is during an energy emergency and to prevent blackouts and reduce brown outs they can send a signal and raise the temp 3 degrees. We have the option to override the setting if we want.
  5. Back to Boston, do you think the British saw it that way? These were their citizens destroying valuable stuff and openly defying the government over money. Ferguson people are defying over someone getting killed and not even being brought to court to answer the charges.
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) Except that the cargo of tea belonged to a British company that was directly profiting from the unfair actions of the government. The property destroyed in Ferguson belonged to private citizens who had nothing to do with the "unfair" actions of the government. The British business was following the law, why should they be punished? It seems like we're trying to have it both ways.
  7. hey look, another unarmed black person was killed by a white officer and no charges will be filed. What were the odds of that happening in the same millennium. http://www.cnn.com/ "I can't breath!" choke hold case. But this person was suspected of selling cigarettes illegally. So, what is the proper response? Quietly protesting? That will get stuff done.
  8. Destroying someones property (cargo of tea) seems like the same as destroying another person's property.
  9. You are almost ready to go around again.
  10. NBA finals? check check check and a few more checks. My buddy and I split Bull's season tickets during the 90s About the only watching that is high on my bucket list is a high school team I coach win a championship. I experienced that with middle school kids, I want it with the big kids. Playing St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, and Renwood Golf Course (again for Renwood).
  11. We had a possum near our front door which was partially enclosed, only about 6 feet from wall to wall. I saw that ugly thing and decided to go through the garage.
  12. very well then, but I also just finished a hot 9 holes while y'all are freezing up north.
  13. A series of deals that in the end will be basically meaningless as teams shuffle their never weres and never will bes around.
  14. Today I approved the replacement microwave from our home warranty company, requested some paperwork from one of the courses we practice at, cleared about 50 emails, emptied suitcases from last week . . .
  15. Monday for our golf tournament my players started in shorts/skirts and short sleeve shirts and ended with fleece, storm gear, winter hats, and over mittens between shots. We dropped from mid 70s to high 40s in about 45 minutes. But at least the wind kicked up to 25 mph also.
  16. politely as she could, as my wife walked out the door today she reminded me that I stayed home today to get a few things done I had been neglecting and I shouldn't spend the day "catching up with your soxtalk buddies".
  17. Last week as my wife was getting ready for bed she turned on the bathroom light and gave a little yell. We had a little juvenile, 16" rattlesnake slithering in the bathroom looking for comfort from the cold and rain outside. My idea was to pin him down so I could grab him and send him on an air trip into the greenway behind our house. He wasn't too inclined to that proposition and instead met his god after he snapped back at me. I hate motherf***ing snakes in my house. I have camped, hiked, backpacked all around the south and never had such an up close encounter with a rattlesnake. I live in the 7th largest city in the US and find one in my bathroom. The next few days we shook out everything, we even would pull the sheets back all the way before getting into bed.

I lived on Washington St in Des Plaines for a few years. Went to North School for 2nd, 3rd, and part of 4th.
  21. I believe there is a huge difference between the victims in these two cases. Women buy tickets to games, watch games, and buy NFL merchandise at a much higher rate than dogs. Also, dogs are man's best friend, your dog will still love you if you watch Vick, I'm not so certain women would be as forgiving if you start cheering Rice.
  22. This has me thinking about a baseball organization. There are summer and winter jobs, plus a few year round. Some of the staff spent the past 9 months preparing for these three months, others are using these three months to prepare for the following nine months.
  23. Each one is the same, yet each one becomes different.
  24. Cursing and smiling will prevail
