They could have caught "fans" of any team. But isn't it awesome the picked the Cubs.

If you played in high school what do you wish your HS coach taught you?

They found the kid on my birthday. I also remember sitting in my SUV before a Sunday afternoon Bulls playoff game. We were parked in a small lot on the northside of the old Stadium. We were going to eat a little lunch in the car and drink a beer before the game. But a couple of "lazy" cops wouldn't walk past us quick enough. About five minutes later we heard a car backfire or something, then all hell broke loose in the courtyard of the high rises across the street. I saw older kids grabbing younger kids and running for cover. Those "lazy cops" were running towards the gun fire. Respect. The off duty Chicago cop that ran the parking lot chewed our asses out for not ducking when the shooting started. We kept staring out the windshield. I realized my kids would have no idea to run and take cover under the same conditions. They were just so removed from that sort of crime.

Great summary of the current situation

I was thinking where is there value in this stat, and my only thought is to identify the guys who don't look slow but have slow player results? Contrast this to the Buerhle article. A legit question there is how does a totally average pitcher win 200 games? Stats may have answered the question, or at the minimum helped a great deal to understand his success. What is the question being answered here? Is Konerko the worst base runner in baseball? Should Konerko be stealing more bases?

Konerko also can't pitch worth a damn.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 07:15 AM) What was the cost of the repairs? If it's $1300 and I informed the manager that unless they take care of it I will be handing it over to my attorney. Not a threat, I've already contacted my attorney.

295 dead aboard Malaysian Airlines shot down over Ukraine.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) Not really. Israel isnt denying that they are doing it. That is why you cant call the attack on the plane "collateral damage". Collateral damage suggests that the party who did it, admits that they did it as part of a military operation. So if you admit that you killed civilians it's collateral damage, what is it if you don't admit it? And does it make a difference? To whom? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 09:08 PM) Compared to setting off a nuclear weapon in Japan, firebombing a city and killing hundreds of thousands, or releasing poison gas across the front lines? Good point. -
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jul 20, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) Rockford Files! Does that bring back memories. Always liked James Gardner. R.I.P. James and thanks for the memories and that theme song.

Insurance Costs: For doctors, health ins. workers
Texsox replied to greg775's topic in The Filibuster
Dental and vision insurance rarely is a winning deal for the consumer. Basically they both know if you buy it you will use it because it is basically elective procedures. So all you are really doing is prepaying for a few things and getting a discount unlike health insurance where you might use it for a heart attack which you really can't plan for. I have the absolute worse vision coverage on the planet. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. -

I was trying to be general because we accept it all over the world. Flipping this around how outraged would we have been if Iraq managed to bomb Great Lakes Naval Air Station and accidentally killed 50 innocent people in North Chicago in the process? It seems that modern war strategies are increasing the killing of innocent civilians. -
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 03:20 PM) No, they would be the criminals. For being fooled by a forgery? When have we ever convicted someone of being fooled by the forgery?

A few thoughts: The different opinions of the doctors. The Astro's doctor is the buyer's doctor, the other three doctors are the seller's doctors. I just bought a home. We looked at the home inspection report a whole lot differently than the seller. Same thing here. If you are spending some serious coin, you will look at things differently. And who knows what credentials as sports docs those three had? I just completed NCAA eligibility training as a HS coach. The rules are loosening up trying to find a happy middle. It is terrible that a HS kid is forced into negotiating a multi-million dollar contract on his own, with an adviser at arms length. This was just bad for everyone and it seems the Astros are the biggest offenders.

I was out of town and missed the obit but someone that should have been more famous John Raders of McAllen, Texas passed last December. He was the most amazing ambassador for golf as THE golf coach in the area for 25 years. He was a walking lesson in being a gentleman. His students and players loved him.

There is a specific exclusion in my policy, (which is standard btw in almost all auto policies), which excludes coverage when at an auto shops. This has already passed through my insurance carrier. And btw, I really didn't want my insurance company paying for it either. Ironically enough though I have a personal liability rider in a renter's policy that may cover me. I say ironically because they are all with the same carrier, just different divisions.

295 dead aboard Malaysian Airlines shot down over Ukraine.

I'm trying to understand why I and many others view these two types of events so differently. 1. A missal is shot at an airplane and innocent people are killed. 2. A missal is shot at a military target in a city and "collateral damage" occurs. In other words innocent people are killed. It seems fair to me to assume that whomever shot at that plane thought they were shooting at a military target making the Malaysian flight "collateral damage". I'm not saying we shouldn't be outraged, sad, and all the emotions we are feeling over this tragedy, but perhaps we should have a bit more outrage at "collateral damage"? How often did we shoot missals in Iraq and other countries knowing their would be "collateral damage"? I saw a map of the routes that different airlines were taking through that region. Some continued to fly over that airspace other avoided it. What possible reasons could you have to fly over the Ukraine? I'm guessing the answer will concern fuel costs. -
About a year ago I went to an oil change place and gave them my keys and waited. Their attendant backed my truck into another vehicle. The oil change place refused to pay My insurance refused to pay I just received a notice of being sued for the amount. Seems that by giving them the keys I authorized the idiot to drive my vehicle making me responsible. Yeah, media war begins next week. Fortunately two of my very best friends deal with the local media on an everyday basis and are hooking me up with the local "on your side" reporters.

I know that Mark in the HoF is the longest of long shots but if I was taking someone who knew nothing about baseball into the hall of fame and told them why it's such a great game would you rather show them Clemens or Buehrle? Would you rather tell the story of Mark's career or Bonds? If we started valuing character and contribution to the game as much as gaudy stats, we'd start to get at the heart of why baseball is such a great sport.

Based on that, and the large percentage of Dutch pax on board, it may as well have been a European airline. I didn't realize it was a KLM codeshare. I retract my earlier comment. Thank you for the corrections. -
