Is Kansas a Laughingstock or Do You Not Care?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 10:40 PM) Now some kook in the legislature wants to pass a law forbidding the "use" of surrogate mothers in Kansas. WTF is going on here? The water must be full of drugs. If there ever was an area of law that needs a good looking at, it is the surrogate mother area. When we've reached the point where healthy women are contracting out for this service because they do not want to get fat, stretch marks, don't have the time, etc. We need to look at that.

Frank Thomas vs. Derek Jeter
In music and entertainment lists and such current stuf always is artificially inflated. In sports lists. current players seem to be deflated for a while.

Sox make 4th and 6th best offseason moves
It was a better than good and possible great offseason. Sadly, it won't really payoff for two maybe probably three years.

Golfing Thread
Coaching golf has been a blast. I have 8 players who had never swung a club before. It's fun when they actually hit it where they wanted to. Great big smiles on their faces.

Jim Bowden predicts Jose Abreu as favorite for AL ROY
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) Never liked it when an old guy comes from another country and wins the ROY. So I'm not going to care if Abreu wins it. I just want him to have a good season. If it were up to me, you would have to be in your Age 25 season or earlier to qualify. I tend to agree. It does come down to where they have been playing. Japan certainly qualifies as above US AAA ball.

White Sox could handle signing gay player-KW
I'd like to point out that the violent anti-gay groups are not really religious.

Does every village need an idiot?
My mother in law wears out a microwave bacon maker about once a year. She buys, for her and my father in law, three pounds of bacon a week. Yeah, I love breakfast at nanas.

Jim Fregosi has now passed away.
Bummer. 71?! That's less than two decades away for me.

Not specific to any one person who has been banned but think about your mod team. We represent the totality of the social and political spectrum. When it reaches the point where 100% of the mods are fed up, we start talking about it. Weeks or months later something finally happens. There are no rash judgements. Anyone who has crossed paths with the person removes themselves from the discussions. By the time someone is suspended or banned they have had more appeals than a death row inmate. And then, we allow some back. I believe there can be minimum standards here and elsewhere on the internet. There should be a variety of places to express your opinions, each with standards that they feel are best for their site. This is a baseball site that also discusses anything that pops into our heads. Not allowing politcial stuff to overwhelm the core business makes sense for soxtalk.

Is Kansas a Laughingstock or Do You Not Care?
I hope businesses will put up signs stating who they will not serve So I can decide to not shop there.

There were a lot of strings attached to the "free" money for expanded medicaid, the most problematic was trying to adjust later to not having the money. Basically you can't roll back the program in three years, so now you are faced with raising state taxes to cover the loss of federal funds. Many states, not just Kansas decided to not go down that path.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 09:13 AM) A joke about a Presidents abusing powers for things they were never intended to be able to do? Makes sense to me. We agree after edits

The Republican Thread
I'll bet all these guys are Democrats as well, I don't know because Huffington doesn't mention party.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Feb 12, 2014 -> 01:45 PM) Notice how it never refers to him as a Democrat? That's why Fox is the best place to get unbiased news. Or any of the dozens of radio shows like Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly. etc.

Scatter my Ashes ~ My Top 10
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Feb 12, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) Either a lot of people never thought about it, or don't want to think about it at all. Or my selection of a TV Hawaiian mansion just threw everyone off. I assumed you were coming out. Tom Selleck in those tight shorts and red ferrari must have done something for ya

John Danks is the 7th worst contract in baseball
It isn't a pretty contract and it is obvious evidence of signing pitchers to long term deals is risky.

It's cold outside
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) Is your meet against teams far enough away that their weather is different? If not, then you are getting the same amount of preparation. No. But I have players who have never been on a golf course in their lives. I need some time to have them ready.

It's cold outside
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 12:59 PM) You're on the wrong board to complain about such things. Most of the people who post here have 8 feet of ice in their front yards. In three months when I'm sweltering in 100+ temps people sill post the balmy 70s and 80s. It all evens out. Relative cold is still cold.

Eliminating Cable / Sat TV
Oops. I should have looked.
