You love it here too much to go away. Kimbrel was runner up as Arizona MVP

Why the Rangers succeeded and the Sox didn't...
Suburban stadium.

2023 League Championship Series
My daughter lives in Houston, not so happy there. I was mostly pulling for the Rangers, they are the most "Sox-like" but knowing I'd be invited to a WS game in Houston would have been a great consolation prize.

I've met him a couple times and I have to admit I'm a huge fan. Jeff Traylor is a great human being. https://footballscoop.com/news/jeff-traylor-rat-trap-mack-brown-posion-cheese

Kim Ng walks away from Marlins
@Balta1701 And nothing happened in the Mets/Yankees case. One of the keys is JR was not in negotiations and was not in concert with any other clubs. For it to affect the market other teams would have to believe the Sox were serious bidders. Which we both know wasn't going to happen. If we know it, and the vast majority of the world knows it, then any GM seriously negotiating for Ohtani will know it. The only GM possibly dumb enough to believe the Sox were serious bidders is Getz. And obviously he wouldn't be in serious negotiations. I'm not saying it was a good thing, I agree it's making a public statement that should be private both for internal moral and for public relations. It just isn't anything MLB or the Player's Union has previously pursued.

Kim Ng walks away from Marlins
He didn't comment about the amount Ohtani is asking, or hint that there was any collusion between owners preventing the team from bidding. It also would be difficult to prove the union's gold standard that it harmed Ohtani's value. So I'm not certain that's a violation. I'm more curious than anything. The Mets and Yankees had a much more serious issue last year that didn't result in anything, this seems like nothing in comparison. I enjoy criticizing JR as much as anybody but I can't get too worked up over this with all the other stupid, self destructive, idiocy he's done.

True. If he's as good as they make him out to be, he's really underpaid.

So Michigan stealing some signs.

41% decrease in viewership
Which is interesting when folks belittle the out of town fans. It isn't convenient yet there they are. Still a fan.
-
Getz
I can't imagine anything more difficult than picking who was the worst Sox anything in history. There are so many candidates with amazingly craptastic accomplishments.
-
41% decrease in viewership
I'm advocating for JR not to own a baseball team in Chicago.
-
41% decrease in viewership
It's not my way. I'm just rejecting the idea that most current Sox fans only care about the Sox and would give up following baseball for the rest of their lives if they moved. Cub and Sox fans sit together at Bears, Bulls, and Hawks games. We go to concerts together. They will sit together at either stadium if either one of the teams moved. We're Chicagoans first.
-
41% decrease in viewership
You are saying that a substantial percentage aren't MLB fans, they are only White Sox fans and will stop following baseball. I disagree. It's like when they moved the Expos and here you are. Still following baseball.

Well, Kim Ng is available. Please come to Boston . . .

RIP Dick Butkus
Or the comfort of a suburban dome.

RIP Dick Butkus
Lol. Yep, no need to waste money on snow removal in San Antonio. I'm with da Coach The program's name even has history. In 1987 then Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka declared that "indoor domes should be used for roller rinks." He then renamed the Vikings' home "Rollerdome." When the Bears came to Minnesota, the Vikings had distributed towels that read "Rollerdome" and the Vikings cheerleaders wore roller skates. I had a snowmobile suit just for Bears games. Our seats were on the west side of the stadium so we'd get that nice breeze off the lake. Bear weather.

That over the air market is going to be huge. When people discover they can install antennas on their houses no one will be using the Internet. It truly is a fad. Bring back rabbit ears. Have some games in color and some in lively black and white.

They Gone - lots of coaching changes
By definition then anyone on the Sox staff is instilling the Sox way and therefore isn't any good.
-
After JR
I imagine non fans would want the team to move instead of ripping off everyone like that.

White Sox 2023 Playoff Thread
People have so many more choices than when they wore fedoras to the game and listened on the radio. So much more than even the games in lively black and white, over the air, television. People are still entertaining themselves. Want to watch a movie? Stream it. Want to learn how to build a backyard pizza oven? Go on line and start gathering materials. When there were six stations to watch, that baseball game may have been the best option. Now, with literally millions of things to look at, it might not be to the casual fan. It's a crowded marketplace with business all fighting for your attention and time. Keep doing the same old stuff from fifty years ago and every time an octogenarian dies, so too does your business.

Playoffs are more exciting. Look at March Madness. Stop the season at 117 games, send the losers home. Play the rest of the season with 16 teams then have an 8 team tournament. College basketball crushed the ratings with a huge playoff. College football, same thing. People love win or go home games played by good teams.
