Late September and I really should be back in school
It use to be so easy to be a multi-sports fan in Chicago. About the time the Sox season was mathematically over, the Bears started, about the time you knew the Bears sucked and would miss the playoffs, the Hawks and Bulls were getting going, and when their seasons blew up, it was time for pitchers and catchers to report. The circle of life

Lather Rinse Repeat
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) Unless I skipped a shower, I just wash once and than use conditioner. And by skipping he means, last week. California water conservation and all

I was half listening to ESPN radio and thinking, I have no idea what any NFL team has done. It's still baseball season and I love it.

For Minnesota to catch us now...
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 06:20 AM) Quit worrying about the Twins and enjoy the stretch run. There is nothing like a pennant race boys, they don't come along too often. Even when we have won, it usually hasn't been this close for this long.

50 FAVORITE WHITE SOX PLAYERS
I'm trying to find the monster month that Ventura had. He batted somewhere around .500 with 15 home runs, or something sick like that. I remember the last day of the month he hit one out in his lst at bat. Possible a walk off.

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
When I read that it seemed just too egregious of an error to be made by NBC. But how many took it at face value and filed it away as more "proof" of media bias?

For Minnesota to catch us now...
While the game by game or series by series predictions all seem fair, I know that just playing .500 ball has been a struggle for these guys. Either the Sox or Twins could go 3-7 and 7-3, They are banged up and have/or have ability woes in too many spots. Of course I would rather be 2.5 up then 2.5 down but two wins for Minny and two Sox loses tightens this up in a hurry.

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) Those extra 6 words take up valuable space! get with the program! Take an earlier report, add a later quote, and call media bias! That's the program! Or as was later discovered, take a candidates email as proof.

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
From doing a quick research she first spoke only of Palin, because that was the topic at hand. Then she added McCain, finally she added Obama and Biden. So you will find reports, all accurate as of that moment, what she had said at that moment. Now one could judge the media for not waiting a day or two to see if she changed her quote, but that isn't the kind of instant reporting we want. We want exactly what she said, when she said it.

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
It seems she kept changing her remark. Do you have a time line?

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) NBC had an interview with the former CEO of HP Mitchell: "Do you think Sarah Palin could run a corporation?" Fiorina: No, I don't she could, or John McCain, or Barack Obama, or Joe Biden" What did NBC air? Mitchell: "Do you think Sarah Palin could run a corporation?" Fiorina: "No, I don't think she could, or John McCain." That ended what they showed of the interview. lol. Link?

Jay Mariotti leaves the Sun-Times!...Goes to the Tribune? Nope!
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Not so fast, says Sun Times lawyers. They threatened to sue for No-Compete issues and the Tribune backed off Which gets to the point, both Chicago newspapers believe he will increase circulation. If the Sun Times didn't believe it they would not be blocking this and the Trib wouldn't be trying to hire him.

The undecided voter, what would you say to convince them?
I tell them Obama is a Muslim, his wife hates America, and his Pastor wants to kill whitey. Who the hell has time for facts?

50 FAVORITE WHITE SOX PLAYERS
Something I learned in writing the bio was that shot of Fisk waving the ball fair was an accident. The cameraman would have been following the ball but a rat (At Fenway!) distracted him and all he could do is follow the player. That highlight is credited with changing the way TV covers baseball, focusing on the player.

Feds Takeover Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) These people make gobs of money. Which I have no problem with. But you can't make gobs of money for years, run a company into the ground, and then expect taxpayers to pay you even more. Sorry, I have zero sympathy in those cases. I have no sympathy either. But at some level I want them to see what they did for the lowest members of the company. Maybe getting that check for $142.80 a week will remind them more than zero. Either way I think we agree. And I understand businesses fail. Hell, I've been around one or two that closed.

Feds Takeover Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) Haven't heard that, but, good. I've said before, I'd like to see Congress propose a lead parachute act. Basically, it goes like this. If C-level executives want to run their companies in to the ground, fine. BUT, if they should do anything that results in the federal gov't stepping in - bankruptcy, bailout, etc. - they should all be let go, with ZERO compensation from that point forward. No parachute, no severance, etc. I think that is slightly harsh. They should receive exactly what their lowest paid employee gets. And maybe if I'm in a generous mood, I'd even consider going double based on their tax contributions through the years. Oh, and if they had outsourced any of those jobs overseas, that would be the lowest paid.

Oney Guillen
QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) I find it sort of funny that anybody would really be irritated that we 'wasted' a 36th round draft pick on Oney. If it wasn't for the minor leagues, the baseball draft would be over in the 15th round.

Crede Likely done in Chicago
Hmm, Occom's Razor September call ups, a possible shortage of lockers, pull some stuff out of the guy who isn't there.
