  2. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 12:36 PM) Can I have my opinion? I think I'm entitled to it. Durant is a star player, Rose is a star player, Dwight is a star player, Bynum is a star player...but I'm a little bit stingier with my definition of SUPER star. Sue me If you think you can post a moronic opinion online and not have people blast you for it, then you're dead wrong. You opened it up for everyone to comment on your opinion, it's fair game.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) $300,000 http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=2618536 We must've had some great talking points then.
  4. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 11:47 AM) Pretty pumped about Ayala. Very unexpected considering what his bonus demands had been reported as. Wasn't it reported that he was informally offered $400k by the Cardinals who wanted to draft him much earlier, but he turned it down?

    QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) I get that... Situation occurred where the one manager's incompetence created a problem to which I found a solution, after she had gone back home to resume her "PTO." I tell the other boss who then tells me not to tell anyone of the solution I've found. We're talking about a way to mitigate some $35-50k in LDs every day, and I'm being told to not reveal the solution so that the other manager can take the hit. Not cool with that, regardless of how commonplace it may be. I would just go ahead and tell the solution, and if you have any documentation showing that you found the solution at that time then track that. You're defense for any blowback is that you were looking out for the best for the company.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) I just want to know whose fault it was the past few seasons when the pitchers werent keeping runners on, the throws werent going to the right bases and the runners made constant blunders. How has that all been corrected in a single season? Because the new manager isn't drunk and actually manages, he doesn't just sit around playing dominoes.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) You can't blame Ozzie for Heath Bell turning into a disaster. You can't blame Ozzie for a player punching a fan. Times are tough in Miami. But I'm sure there's enough blame to go around without blaming it on the manager solely. The owner prolly should have kept McKeon a few years. But Ozzie will win there if his players ever produce consistently. That statement right there is why people think about you the way they do. That's a manager's job, to get players to perform as best as they can, because that usually means they will win.
  8. b****es be trippin...seriously pissed right now.
  9. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:05 PM) It is fireworks one night of the year, some random fireworks in middle of night is whatever..... so many whiners in the suburbs. GET OFF MY .25 ACRE LAWN

    QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) Also, The Prestige was on last night, and I hadn't seen that since the theaters. That's such a great movie and I love Christopher Nolan. Yea ended up watching it last night for the first time as well, I thought it was really well done.

    QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 08:15 AM) About 280 pages or so into Game of Thrones...definitely has picked up in the last 150 pages or so. Just wait for books 2 and 3.

    QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 02:39 AM) He's selling a Ford Focus, Russ. D'oh... Well I'm blaming it on it being a Monday.

    QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) You sure you don't want a Ford Focus??????? I don't get it?

    I just saw a coworker's decked out 2012 Infiniti FX, that is a REALLY nice car, it blew away the Lexus RX. I'm saving up for a new car at the moment, right now I really like the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. I'd love an Audi A3 but it's out of my price range.
  15. If you can avoid driving, get dropped off at the O'hare Blue line and take that in. The total time probably won't be that much different, plus you can just relax and not stress about traffic, and you save on gas+mileage.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) Maybe some music, but mostly aps and internet access. 16 is fine then.
  17. So as I started fulltime a bit over a month ago, I'm trying to save $1k a month for bigger expenses such as getting an MBA in the near future (probably 2 years from now). After looking at what CD's are offering, I decided I'd rather invest that money in high-dividend stocks, but I don't want to dump it all into 1 or 2 stocks since that adds a lot of risk still. So far, I have positions in: Vanguard Total Stock Market Mutual Fund Vanguard Total International Stock Mutual Fund KO VZ GWW BP BAC GE DE MM F MON KFT SNY HINKY AGNC AEP So what do you guys recommend in terms of relatively low risk stocks with good dividends? Should I continue investing in the stocks I have or look elsewhere? FYi, a few of those stocks are viewed more as long term positions.
  18. I did not expect that...
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) who got knocked out, me or chisox? it seems to me he snapped and will prolly be headed to the penalty box. How long will it take for greg to realize who Chisoxfn is.... Which actually only backs up Jason's statement, since greg has been here what, close to a decade? And yet he still doesn't know.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) Greg...I don't make personal attacks, but you are the stupidest person in the history of the internet. I can't even fathom this and its posts like this that really prove the fact that you are either (a) that stupid or (b) the biggest troll in the history of Soxtalk.
  21. QUOTE (Drew @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) What is ridiculous is for any business owner to make a better product only if customers keep buying the overpriced product. The comparisons to Arte Moreno serves as an example that his investment in a quality product and charging a reasonable price for it is a proven recipe for success. Yeaaa, no. The Sox put out an expensive product and fans didn't buy it, so they cut back on production costs like any legitimate business would do.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) Is there anybody out there who would buy the White Sox if Jerry and the investors wanted out? Would Cuban buy the team? Does he have the cash? Yes there would be big interest, and if the Padres selling price is any indication, the Sox would be sold close to $1billion.

    I finished a Dance with Dragons about 3 weeks ago, actually a bit disappointed with the book. I just felt that the storyline wasn't as good as I expected, it took forever to build up to events, and even then it didn't go into them that much. However, I do love the two Targaryeans and the different paths they are taking now.
  24. Terrible acquisition, waste of money. I want Hudson back.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) Somewhat, yeah. Zell gave him the green light to spend whatever it takes to win a WS and up the franchise value while he sells. That was the main reason for the overbidding on Soriano. They did make the playoffs two straight years, and were the best regular season team in 08. But I think Marlon Byrd was after that spending spree, so that was just a bad contract on a guy with PED connections who only hit well in Texas. Byrd was like a 3 yr/15mm deal, not that bad of a contract considering he as an AS for a year there. There are much worse Cubs signings in the past few years than Byrd.
