She isn't drop dead gorgeous, but she is very cute. Looks like much more marriage material than girls who may be hotter.

The Finer Things In Life
Decided not to buy my brother liquor since apparently he now has over 200 bottles of various rums, whiskeys, tequilas, etc. As much as he would have appreciated another one, I went with a gift with some practical applications for him. I was at a bar a few nights ago and me and two friends split a few pitchers of Three Floyds Gumball Head, great stuff, hadn't had it in a about a year.

The Future Of the Rotation
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) If I write a post that is based entirely on "If Alex Rios develops a work ethic"...I have a feeling people would scoff at it. He didn't say anything as extreme as that though...

The Future Of the Rotation
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Do people really think that there are these great offers for our guys that KW has gotten that he's just sitting on? Didn't the Danks extension pretty much prove that isn't the case, that the offers for our guys really haven't measured up? I think he said IF about 50 times in his post, and said that there probably wasnt offers out there to that extent right now. You just repeated a stance that he acknowledged.

The Future Of the Rotation
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Right now, if that kind of deal were out there, I think it would have already happened. I think Balta is on repeat again...

k0na breaks story on Danks 5 years/$65mil ext...Heyman confirms
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) I have subscribed to this theory myself. In fact signing Quentin would be in the so called rebuilding concept IMO. Keep your good players while looking at some FA signings and potential minor league stars. And how do you get these minor league stars? Hmm, by trading your valuable (aka GOOD) pieces.

Kim Jong Il Died
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) Yeah, I have many friends in SK at the moment and I'm worried about what might happen. For all the jokes and stuff, his death is pretty much as scary as his life. They are essentially a feudal system with a near perfect totalitarian-ruled country. That legacy aspect may cause some deeply non-sensical, and terrible, things to happen to retain that power. I have a college friend that is JUST leaving for his SK army duties this week, he's gotta serve 2 years for them and Im kinda scared as hell for him. Fortunately, he got into a program that works closely with the US army and will actually give him US citizenship after his tour.

2012 MLB Catch All thread
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) I still think the team that doesn't get Darvish will grab Gio. Both the Rangers and Jays have more than enough pieces. I could see that, but it depends on the price of Gio, and from my interpretations it's as much or more than Latos, meaning that team would have to love Gio to bring him in.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) JonHeymanCBS Jon Heyman This is all still speculation, but fwiw folks whove spoken to #bluejays people say they don't seem confident they won darvish bid. It's gotta be the Rangers, hopefully the Blue Jays come back to us about Danks.

2011 TV Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 07:52 AM) I dont know what is with that site, but it keeps timing out on me, I cant open it. Are you sure it is the new episodes? The Showtime site shows Jan 8th I watched the first episode, it was most definitely the season opener. Maybe it was leaked and somebody got them to take it down, but I watched it and it was about 55 mins long, including a few minute recap on what happened last season.

Sunny was great, some great references to running jokes in that episode. Glad to have Shameless back, I love those characters.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 06:14 PM) But it's not exaggerating to say that we've already thrown the towel in on this season. Right, because that's what I said. The Sox are not really trying to compete this year, they will put out a team with some players like Konerko on it and say they are competing but they are a team rebuilding.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) The Sox could have gotten more for Molina. I agree Molina is a solid prospect but when you are in a rebuilding mode, trading a cost controlled above average closer in a one for one deal for a potentail starting pitching prospect is not the best way to rebuild. Trading him for 2 good prospects and one average prospect is how you do it and I have no reason not to believe that the Sox couldn't have done that. The problem was Kenny fell in love with Molina and decided the 1 for 1 deal was worth it. It might be, but given our lack of depth, I want to see deals that get us multiple quality guys (plus, it isn't like Molina was a sure fire stud). None of this means I don't like Molina, it just means that I think from a value perspective the sox could have done better. This I agree with, and said pretty much the exact thing when the trade was announced. But to call Molina "scraps" is just hyperbole.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) In terms of something that will help us this season, yes. In the long run, he might well be a decent addition, but it's absolutely a step backwards for this year. How about if I add in Buehrle? can we call it scraps then? So far, we're down 5.0 fWAR on the offseason, and we've added effectively nothing. If Dunn and Rios both gave us very good seasons next year, that would simply offset what we've already lost. You adding Buerhrle into this is comical. Molina is not 'scraps' and KW was looking at what was best for the Sox in the near future, we obviously aren't going to try to really compete this year.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) Yeah, that'd be getting close to getting hosed, but Hell, right now I really don't think we're getting better than that, and IMO we already threw in the towel on this season when we gave away Santos for scraps. Oh please.

What's the better move?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) Wells was at least coming off a very good season when the Angels did that move. We can't even say that about Rios. He's coming off an historically bad season. Season and a half is more accurate.

Cowley: Bridges need to be rebuilt.
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) The story is at least one pitcher on the staff last year thought Coop was looking out for himself in the last year of his contract and wasn't the 'same old Coop' until he got his extension. Like it or not, that perception is a legit story. Possibly a legitimate basis for a story, but not written or executed like a professional news article.

Cowley: Bridges need to be rebuilt.
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) We only shoot the messenger when the messenger editorializes a very obvious agenda. You can tell from the verbal contortions he puts his article through to cobble together a narrative from disparate quotes. There are plenty of columnists who have written about the Sox' troubles that I don't have a problem with. He's like a word genius.
