2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
I thought it was laughable that the MLB Network decided on the Phillies as the team to follow for their new Bullpen show.

Wal-Mart turns in parents over kids bath pics
I see more fault with Child Protective Services than with Walmart. Walmart employee sees what could possibly be a case of child pornography and reports it, CPS is then in charge of dealing with the situation, and they determined to take the children away. IMO, Walmart is being sued because they have the money.

Top-5 prospects Kenny will trade this offseason
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 01:52 AM) Eh, I just know that Kenny inquired about Haren when Peavy said no initially and quite frankly, a bunch of the players the D-Backs sent to Oakland were from us, so it's like "We had the ammo for that?" Not true at all. Yes, we had pieces for the trade, but we definitely didnt have enough to get Haren. Guys that were in the trade that werent a former Sox player: -Carlos Gonzalez, who was ranked as one of the top prospects in all of baseball at the time (#1 prospect for Arizona at the time) -Brett Anderson (#3 prospect for Arizona at time) -Dana Eveland -Greg Smith ---Both of these last two players were young lefty pitchers. So add in a stud outfield prospect, a great pitching prospect, and two mid-level prospects and you quickly realize the Sox did not have the ammo for such a trade. We had pieces, and we may have been able to acquire more pieces by unloading some of the vets for prospects, but the farm system was not good enough for Haren.

Seeing is believing. I meant no offense to anyone, but I felt that everybody got along better when nobody had pants on.

What Would Bobby Jenks bring back via trade?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) Unless we do something big over the winter, I get the feeling that Tony Pena gets a shot at closing. I dont think he has shown enough to the coaching staff to really make them believe he can succeed in that role. He needs more time to show that he can be consistent, especially with his slider.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) I was flipping back and forth between football and Emmys last night. Isn't this "30 Rock" stuff kind of overrated? I mean would you put it in the same category of other great shows in the past? I've only seen a few episodes and it hasn't exactly blown me away. The first two seasons were great, the third one was good but not at the same level.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 08:26 AM) So hooking up with a "taken" girl is not a good idea. Boyfriend is pissed, girlfriend never told me anything about it (and felt the guilty need to tell him about us), but apparently it's my fault so I'm in some trouble here. f***ing skanks

How did you find your job?
Bump. So its internship looking season once again, and as a sophomore the pickings are slim to none. Any suggestions in terms of getting them? I had one last summer through a connection and even though the experience was great it seems to change little when it comes to recruiters. Im looking into IT/Management and worked in an IT dept. last summer. Thanks for any tips!

"More bunting"
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) One can argue that, by bunting and getting the baserunner on 2nd base and letting the next batter try to hit a home run, the runner on 2nd base can still run home from 2nd if the batter hits a double to the deep outfield. If the baserunner was still on 1st base, (after the previous batter intentionally struck out) then he would've more than likely only been able to get to 3rd base on that deep double. Yet you still have an extra out to work with to score that guy. You didnt just waste one trying to move that guy over.

When all you've got is a college laptop, Vista is no good. Most standard laptops for college students will come with 1 or usually 2 gb of ram, which just isnt enough. And when your on a budget many people dont want to pay to upgrade or dont have the experience to install it themselves at a cheaper price. Note: This statement is about laptops from a year or two ago, now higher ram is a standard to compensate for Vista.

Pedro
QUOTE (b-Rye @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) NL AVG OBP SLG 260/.331/.411 AL AVG OBP SLG 266/.335/.430 Not much of a difference, if you put the DH factor into it. NL isn't that much easier. Pedro hasn't really been healthy in a few years, but he has really good stuff when he is. I can't believe it took him so long to be signed. You're seriously going to use those stats to compare the two leagues? An OVERALL talent difference means difference in the pitching and hitting. The talent level difference is huge, an overall of suckage in one league leading to the same stats in a much tougher league does not mean they are equal. Joe Crede Possibly Retiring
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) The Sqwert has a tendency to get carried away with his negativism. He knows Joe is/was good QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) You and me both He knows Crede is/was injured. Look, he was a decent player for us who had a great postseason in 2005 and was an integral part of the World Series run and for that I thank him and he will always be remembered for that. But lets not exaggerate how good or bad he was, for he was a mediocre player who really didnt live up to his hype with the bat throughout his career and his back problems ruined that chance and are now ruining his career. He did some things very well, including his clutch hits and defense, but he was not a GOOD player, he was average with great moments and terrible moments. I appreciate Joe Crede for what he was, but lets not get carried away by saying he was an alltime great because of one postseason.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) not one mention of Dr. Steve Brule. You all fail. Tairy Greene (Galifinakis) and especially Steve Brule (John C. Reilly) are what make that show amazing. All the others are hit and miss, but anything with with those two is worth watching. Steve Brule skits are flat out amazing. Also, Spaghett cracks me up everytime.
