Sox GM Meetings
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 12:48 AM) I would like to see them take a risk and go up to $120M. Give those starters some more confidence. Having a starting 4 like this at trying to be cheap at the same time is like Culter trying to work with the Bears O. They aren't being cheap, they're trying not to lose a ton of money on the season.

Curtis Granderson Anyone
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) Well until I hear them say something like that, I would assume they would take the best package regardless of who the team is. Its not totally out of the question to have trades made in the division. It definitely makes it harder that we are not just in the same division, but both teams expect to be in the race. It's not like the Tigers are going into rebuilding mode. Not saying impossible, just improbable (and I do think the Tigers would take the best package at this point).

Will PK be traded?
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 11:26 AM) I think your opinion of Murphy is a bit too high. I've seen the kid play quite a bit, looked at the metrics, he has no pop at all. He's got a decent approach at the plate, and his glove won't kill you, but he's not worthy Paulie. Martinez, however, with his upside likely is. Paulie + his contract If anything it gives KW flexibility in terms of payroll.

Sox GM Meetings
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) The White Sox have 4 big cogs in the rotation followed up by Freddy Garcia manning the 5 spot and Hudson doing whatever the organization wants him to do. The White Sox have right around $20 mill to spend. Roy Halladay makes around $16 mill. No, that doesn't make sense. Yea, I didnt understand that either, maybe for Gonzalez but for Halladay just seems like they saw the list from last season's trade deadline and regurgitated it.

Breaking News.......
QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) I went with the flu crash diet. I had the worst sore throat of my life from the virus and could hardly eat anything for the better part of a week. I ended up losing about 10-15lbs. Since then, I've been exercising and eating well so I haven't gained any of the weight back. I thought milksteak and jellybeans would be bad for your diet.

Idea: Overbay for Armstrong & McCulloch?
Overbay is a 7+ million dollar, 32 year old, first baseman who has a career .812 OPS, he really doesnt have much value. He could probably find a place on the Sox, but I really wouldnt give up much for him at all, and a Linebrink and others type swap sounds fair.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
Not sure what to think yet. Im not a huge fan of having Teahen replacing Dye, and I dont really want Nix starting yet. I also love CJ but think he needs another half year or so still. So depending on the moves that follow this I will really like it or I will really dislike it (I cant hate it, because Getz is a nice player to have but wont explode enough to really hurt you).

Let the stroking begin!
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) I'd trade anyone in the Sox system not named: Beckham Konerko Pierzynski Danks (I & II) Floyd Peavy Garcia Buehrle Quentin Rios (I'd trade him for AGon, but they wouldn't want him) Thornton Jenks So if they wanted anything from Nix-Flowers-Hudson-Retherford-Torres-Morel-(anyone) I'd do it. I dont even know how to respond to this... You wouldnt trade Konerko or Garcia to get pieces for Gonzalez!? Or Jenks?

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 07:27 AM) I am patiently waiting for the Black Friday madness to come about. I finally have some money to put into a TV, computer, or something else we would like, now I just need to fast forward 2 1/2 weeks. Isnt there usually a thread where people start posting "leaked" deals? BF is really overhyped nowadays, I would just check slickdeals.net for deals that are great and are out there every day. They also have a BF forum if you really want to check that out.

Mark Gonzales Interview By WSI
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 09:41 PM) Don't make this a flame war about WSI. It's a great read and I suggest members go there. Confirms a lot of what I heard regarding Orlando Cabrera as well as guys like Swisher and the vets. http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/rwas/in...=11&id=3906 Thoughts? Opinions? Doesnt Konerko not like vocal leaders? Wasnt that the one of the big issues with Cabrera?

Official 2009-2010 NCAA Basketball Thread
Im liking the love for the Big Ten to start the season, hopefully they can keep that up by finally winning the ACC-Big Ten challenge and having a good showing in out of conference play. Personally, I dont see Ohio State nor Michigan that high, I see Michigan below Illinois (just a teensy bit biased there ) and I see Minnesota pulling more into the 13-17 range.

Sox need defense for serious run in 2010
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 08:45 AM) This is an excellent debate. Would you rather wait for Getz to develop, or would you rather sign an aging vet like Polanco? I'm torn... I say which ever route gets the White Sox closer to the World Series in the next couple years while we have this outstanding pitching. If Im spending money to bring in a second basemen its for Hudson, no one else on the FA market is worth it.

Sox need defense for serious run in 2010
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 01:27 AM) I find it shocking that Orlando Hudson's name has yet to be mentioned or maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention. I think alot of people just see him as too much of an expense at a position that has decent (but definitely not good) options for league minimum. He could be in for a big payday and we have bigger issues (though, if the price was right, he would solve the leadoff spot while playing excellent defense).

Arizona Fall League
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) Is there a reason WHY it's such a hitters league? Do more top hitters go there than pitchers. Is it strictly arizona weather + small stadiums? Most organizations see that their top pitching prospects have already gone the amount of innings planned for the year, so most organizations will send guys who are more borderline or need experience to have another chance to evaluate them and to work on stuff. Most hitters dont fatigue as much as a pitchers arm that they are trying to build gradually.

Fall of '09 television thread
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Tom Arnold must die. What is the deal with the dude who had his fingers cut off or whatever happened to him. I guess I really need to see some older episodes I just got into this show this season and a few episodes in at that. The guy with two fingers left was an accountant who told the club he could get them a bunch of money, didnt tell them it was counterfeit, so when they had a run in with hte Asian gang they gave him over (thats who he was screwing out of money). His hands are like that because when he gets nervous he jacks off and the Asian boss got tired of that.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Sons Of Anarchy was exceptionally good tonight. I am finding myself siding more and more with Clay as the season goes forward. Dammit, missed another one. Why cant midterms just leave me alone so I can watch SOA?

Interview Skills
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) Not to hijack your thread bigruss, but... I had an interview last weekend on campus with General Electric that went great, and I got a call today asking me to come in for a 2nd interview at their distribution center here in Knoxville as well as tour of the facility/meeting the managers, etc. Obviously, I accepted the chance for a 2nd interview. It's for a 6-month Co-op/internship, which would be an awesome experience. Anyway, any pointers/advice for an on-site interview? There has been some good stuff in this thread about actual sit-down interviews (though I already know most of that stuff), so I'm more wondering what can I expect actually visiting a place and getting a tour, etc? Any tips not already mentioned in this thread? Or does anyone here know much about GE's Industrial Systems division? I imagine not, but I thought it was worth a shot. I'm doing research online as well, but anything would help. No problem at all, those would be great tips to know since I too have to go on-site and have no experience with that. Also, goodluck! I have a friend who was just offered an internship at GE.
