Pic Zune HD Zune HD looks really sweet, apparently the UI is >>>>>> than ipod touch. I also like the OLED screen, alot better for viewing videos. The price is also quite nice (for the 16gb). The only problem is that right now its more geared towards being an mp3 player than an all in one device that I am looking for. The internet browser apparently is nowhere near as good as the touch's and the apps dont compare. Can anybody give a brief overview of what jailbreaking is and the advantage of it?

So Ive been thinking about splurging a bit and buying one of these mp3 players(I have verizon so cant get the iphone). I want something that not only plays music but also games and videos. I feel like with all the apps the ipod has the advantage for what Im looking for but Ive heard great things about the Zune HD and thay Microsoft is committed to expanding their app department and should be able to do so relatively easily especially in games. Im looking for something that I can play hulu on or watch shows for free and movies/shows on the road. Any experiences or comments are welcome, but please no "____ sucks balls" without backing it up, or "apple sucks, they're the man trying to take you over." Comments or experiences with other mp3 players are cool too.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) I just don't see Liney bringing anything of value. Why not dump his salary for a hack (reclamatiion project) hopefully for less money. I really don't get why baseball teams overpay these middle reliever guys (Farnsworth, Dotel, Liney, etc.) 2007 White Sox say hi.
  4. Is it just me or is SOA becoming really complex, and I like it.
  5. QUOTE (balfanman @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) I understand that the hitting coach is important. I just don't think that the difference between Walker, Jaramillo, or whoever is going to be that great. It just seems to me that with all of the problems that we had running the bases the last few seasons the base running coach, whoever that may be, should come under just as much, if not more scrutiny than the hitting coach. So you dont think that a hitting coach can make of a difference but a base running coach can? Just like some hitters are naturally talented or some wont listen, baseball players are either smart or not, including their base running. Coaches can only do so much, but really its up to the players (especially at this level). To me, more of a concern are the Cox's who are sending players around third when they shouldnt be, thats a direct impact that a coach can have and he killed us a few times.
  6. QUOTE (balfanman @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) Personally, I think that we're wasting time talking about a hitting coach. With all of the speed that the team seems to be going to in the line up I think that money might be better spent on a quality base running instructor. I have no idea who this person would be, and quite frankly I have no idea who the base running "guru" is in the organization. Did anyone ever replace Tim Raines? Why does this have to be reiterated every year? Speed DOES NOT matter if you cant get on base, thus the hitting coach>>>>>>> base running coach.
  7. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) I got 15 right. All of the 2000's and Wells, and Johnson in the 90's and Thomas, Ventura, and Mcdowell in the 80's. I spent at least 3 minutes trying to spell Kyle Mcculloch I had to google search his name after trying like 10 times. I got 13 right, basically 2000 and forward plus Thomas and Ventura.
  8. Any good places to watch SOA? Every place Ive seen is an episode behind.
  9. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 11:54 PM) Since it's a catch-all I thought I'd share this... Last Monday a friend of ours turned 21, so we went out to celebrate. On the cab ride back my iPhone falls out of my jacket pocket & I don't realize it until I get back to a friend's apartment. Needless to say I start to freak. I call the cab company, they've got nothing... The next day I come home after class, my mom says someone called and says they found my phone in the cab. I meet up with the guy & get the phone. I ask him why he did such an awesome thing...he says "I figure if I kept it, I'd be a dick." Wow thats awesome. Very classy of that guy, and he was right to. I was visiting some friends and we were walking back after a night full of vodka and partying and I never realized that my wallet fell out of my pocket. The next day I was freaking out and couldnt find it anywhere. I got home later that week and waiting for me was a package from one of his neighbors who found it in the gutter of the street rained on but still filled with the $80 in it along with my credit card. I couldnt believe it. I was so grateful for that.
  10. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 02:03 AM) Super Smash Bros. How could I forget!? Stunt Racer was a game that was terrible but excellent at the same time. I played that with my friends at my cottage almost every summer since we got the game.
  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) I just found out that two students at the church/school I work for were confirmed to have the H1N1 virus this evening. Please pray for these students and all the people they may have come in contact with. On a good note, this was a 3 day weekend, so hopefully that limited SOME additional exposure to the virus. I hope nothing terrible happens to them (besides having the flu). I believe U of I has had 700 reported cases thus far though, not sure on that number as I just heard it from someone. But I do know that it is quite a high number.
  12. QUOTE (Tmar @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) I need the best/most fun game to play on NES, SNES, or N64, what are they Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of my all time faves. Star Fox (If anything for the "Do a barrel roll!" line, which still cracks me up). Mario Kart 64 007: Goldeneye Perfect Dark Thats just what comes to the top of my head at the moment.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) If we're not going to be interested in an .850 OPS guy as our DH, I'm just curious as to who you guys think we're going to fill in at that position... This. And you have to take salary into consideration. If you can get Jim at 4 mill, and Nick Johnson and Abreu are wanting double to triple that is it worth it?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) I could seriously see Thome's value this offseason being well under $4 million. I could see a team like Oakland using him.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) I bet the sox go after Matsuai, just a gut feeling. I think we can get him cheap & he can play some outfield. Other wise, I think were getting Thome back at a reduced salary. Making less than 5 mil & playing 3/4 of the year it would be nice to have his bat back. I think Matsuai would be a good edition Is that a first or second edition? The value could be vastly different.
  16. Ugh, Im not buying football tickets next season, I cant even motivate myself to go to the homecoming game, I would rather be on Soxtalk and study accy.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) We're gonna go with CQ in left, Pods in center and Rios in right? On paper, lotta question marks in that outfield. Speed in center and right, though. All up to CQ to provide some power and stay healthy. Why the hell would Rios be in right and Pods in center? That makes absolutely no sense! It SHOULD be: LF Pods CF Rios RF Quentin

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) So? No one said Pods was a top 20 player in the game or anything. The blind hate just doesn't make sense, when it could better be aimed at Alexei Ramirez, or Jermaine Dye, or Carlos Quentin. All whom seem to get a free pass. I dont see much blind hate, I think most people here are recognizing Pods as a team MVP (which is saying alot about hte team) and are saying good job for the quality of his ABs this year (Ive said that twice in this thread). But to disregard the rest of my earlier post is unfair, thats where I made my argument that Pods, as good as he was at the plate, is still a below average starter and shouldnt be counted on next year. Whats the big deal with that? Those guys are given free passes in the discussion for team MVP, fair enough?
  19. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) That still has to work under a salary cap. The NFL is the biggest game in the U.S. Having a more level playing field gives smaller markets a better chance of winning. If youre arguing that the NFL is more fair than the MLB than why are the WS teams more diverse than SB teams (in terms of different teams winning). There are probably a ton of factors providing to this outcome but fact is, if you run a good organization you have a great chance to win, no matter what the sport. Having more money can make it easier but is definitely not always the case.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) You mean the guy we signed to a one-year deal was our best outfielder this year despite all his faults? Which is more of a testament to how bad our outfielders were than Pods was good. Pods hit very well this year, and did a great job in the leadoff role. But he showed that his speed is quickly going away and has almost no threat as a basestealer anymore. He also reminded us that he makes god awful decisions on the basepaths. He played better defense than expected, but still had a few amazingly bad defensive plays and a noodle arm. I dont get that just because he did well in one role this year that we can count on him to be as good next year, or that his defense wont hurt us next year, or that he wont get injured next year. Hes shown throughout his career that his defense is below-average, he has a hard time staying healthy, he probably wont hit as well as he did this year, his ability to steal was based on his natural speed and now that is disappearing. I would love to have him as a 4th outfielder as he doesnt strikeout alot and seems to be loved by the team. But to count on him to be a competent leadoff man next year is wrong.

QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) I love people who hate Pods for no reason. Jealousy? average numbers: Aside from his OBP... Did you watch any Sox games this year? You understand the role of a lead-off hitter... right? horrible baserunning: He takes risks... Thats more than what you can say about 90% of MLB players. lousy defense: I count 2 E's this year. He's not Hunter or Ichiro... but lousy? Again, did you watch any Sox games this year? I love people who have blind love for players and cant admit the truth.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) Pods. It's amazing with our team the guy many vote for MVP is a guy many don't want back. Gotta love baseball. How many times has Pods put up back to back good years in his career? Add in the fact that he isnt as fast as before and therefore is a liability on the bases (he gets picked off and thrown out wayyyy to much) and that his defense is atrocious and he possibly could be asking for upwards of $7 mill I think its only right to question whether we want him back as a core part of the team or as a role player from the bench. That said, way to go and hit this year Pods.
  23. Dan Uggla anyone? What type of talent would it take to get him?
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 08:50 AM) The Onion does it again... ESPN Completely Misses Brett Favre Vs. Green Bay Packers Storyline Wow that was fantastic. I love this:
  25. QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) Is there a database to identify sinkerball pitchers who were high draft picks but have fallen out of favor with their current team? If there is Im sure a copy is on Kenny's computer.
