Official 2009-2010 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 19, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) I like the part where once again it wasn't as ISU fan who said U of I was 5th best in the state, or even posted these rankings when they were 5th best. Everyone keeps doing things like this and sarcastically making fun of us for being ridiculous fanboys but in reality we haven't said anything out of line in this thread. Congrats on being ahead of us, both of us haven't beaten a good team yet so we can't really say whose better yet until conference play starts. Clemson and Vandy? Ok then...

I'm Getting a New TV
QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Dec 19, 2009 -> 01:40 AM) Only thing I'm worried about with LCD is that I'm hearing the picture gets fugged if you watch on an angle. Does the angle have to be extreme? Who watches tv straight on anyway? LCD angles tend to be pretty decent, the product info usually has the degrees listed on what the vertical and horizontal viewing angles are.

Website and Computer Help
So I am taking over the website for my business fraternity and I am using Dreamweaver for it. I have dreamweaver on my laptop but I am having trouble accessing the website source from my laptop so I cant really do anything. When Im on a school computer lab one I can access it by going to My Network Places, I believe that is using a modified version of Windows XP. My laptop has Windows 7. So any ideas on how to get both on my laptop? Im not sure how to set up the connection to the website from my laptop, or to put dreamweaver on the school computer without downloading it on it. Any ideas? I am somewhat tech savvy, but not hardcore at all so any guidance is appreciated.

I'm Getting a New TV
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Panasonic makes the best plasma tvs, unless you want to spend $4k, in which case you get a Pioneer. Samsung is quality. The LCD market is pretty much dominated by Sony and Samsung. My advice would be a 50 inch panasonic or samsung plasma. You should be able to pick up a 1080p for about $1200-1300 I would imagine... 50in Plasma Samsungs should be well under $1000 on a good deal, most likely in the $900 range and sometimes down to $800. 720p, which really alot of people cant tell the difference (especially older people or ones with poor eyesight, can be found as low as $600 at the 50" range which is crazy. If you want 42in LCDs I ahve seen a plethora of deals in the last month or so at the $500 range for 1080ps, and decent brands too.

I'm Getting a New TV
Checkout slickdeals.net for updated deals on lcds or plasmas, many people comment on the threads too if they have any experience with the product giving you personal input (take it for what its worth though.). I would go to Frys or some other large electronic store to actually view the product in person to find one that suits you the most, remember that plasma requires a darker room for maximum viewing. Personally, Samsungs are the way to go, im dissappointed in my Toshiba now, it just doesnt compare, but then again I saved a crapload compared to a Samsung.

Job Offer Question
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) First day was good. Typical of 1st days, though, I'm sure. Spent over an hour with the HR woman filling out paperwork and stuff like that. Did some actual work, though (while being supervised by the old intern who's training me before he leaves). Met some people around the office. Today was much better though. Yesterday was just really boring at times. But today I did a bunch reports that I had to send out to different managers, so that took the entire morning and kept me busy. Also had to call a lady at another company about getting a shipment of ours cleared through customs to get it to a distribution center of ours by tomorrow. It was "snack day" at the office too, so everyone brought different foods so lunch was awesome. I contributed Christmas cookies. Met the main boss at my office and he was a really nice guy, so that's good. Everyone seems to be pretty close knit there. I think I'm going to like it. Very nice man, hopefully its exactly what youre looking for.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 06:32 PM) Knoxville... Louisville is our headquarters for Consumer & Industrial (I think), but the Industrial Systems division of C&I is located in Knoxville. So, I didn't have to move away from school. Very nice! I was just curious as I have a friend going to GE this summer for an internship at the Louisville location. So how was the first day?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) The offense probably had the most talent of any team in the Big Ten, but still managed to be one of the worst. Honestly we have nowhere to go but up at this point. There's enough talent there to make a bowl game. But of course talent on paper means nothing (as Zook has repeatedly shown us). Perhaps Petrino is thinking that if he does really well as an OC he can replace Zook next year. I'd love for Zook to stick around as a recruiting coordinator. I'm happy the Juice Williams era is finally over. He was great for the programs initial rebuild, and of course the 2004 game against OSU won't be forgotten, but he was so awful in so many games. He was an athlete, not a quarterback. I hope whoever takes the reigns next is a QB first, athlete second. I have high hopes for Charest working with a real OC.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Yes, we're going to non-tender DJ Carrasco because we're currently $45M-$55M under budget. If we had that money Figgins or Beltre would be at 3b.

Official 2009-2010 NCAA Football Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 07:10 PM) I've heard that the RG had the money from boosters to buy out Zook and hire a new coach so I don't think that would have been a major issues. And even if it would hurt in the short term financially to fire him, if you think long term, keeping him around losing a ton of revenue from donations and a decline in season tickets next year it is very possible that you end up hurting your bottom line significantly by keeping Zook around. But that is the problem with the Illinois athletic department, they consistently think small. Hadnt heard about the boosters, and I totally agree with the future/long term investment in a good coach being more beneficial.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) Oops. If our guys are offended by this, then I may have to change my opinion of Joe. I did not realize this was goin on. I back the good people here over him! Justin and Mario are awesome. Were our guys offended by this or just happy to get the mention in his twitter. It's not like it was in the actual newspaper. My bad if Justin et all were offended by Joe's twitters. I support the guys on here more than Joe!!! Wasnt jsut the twitter though, he blasted Soxnet on the radio too. He used print (in email form), radio, and internet to take unneeded and unfair blows to Soxnet, just to feed his ego. If he blasted Soxnet on the radio and then after Jason talked to him if he had apologized I would have said okay, but he resorts to insults to cover that fact that he didnt have a source on it himself.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) Pretentious asshole? You guys must see him on TV or something. I just read his stuff and think it's good ... and free. I have read and seen comments and replies he has had to his and Suntimes readers, completely unprofessional and defines a$$hole. I know some fans should really be laughed at once in a while, but for a newspaper business dying the way he treats the readers is just disrespectful and stupid. If you want more proof just ask Chisoxfn of his experience with Joe.

Plus it's free information. Not like we gots to pay for it. Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah (sp) to all! I love the holidays. It tends to be pretty common for people not to like pretentious assholes who are completely unprofessional and widely regarded as one of the biggest d***s in baseball reporting.

Official 2009-2010 NCAA Football Thread
My guess is that its just not economically feasible to fire Zook. The University of Illinois is in shambles in terms of budget, they are cutting everywhere right now. Im not sure how the athletic department is coping but they may not have the capital to cut loose Zook and afford a high price tag coach.
