Is knowing a foreign language as important as personal finances? It's a zero sum game, you only have so many hours in a day for classes. I would probably land on personal finances as being more important, at least in this country. While knowing a foreign language is great, English is pretty well accepted around the world.

Sweet, I'm excited with him in the fold. Should bring lots of energy, hopefully the donors rally behind him as well.

Kosher dawg with grilled onions and mustard, so freakin' good. Also love the nachos and fake cheese and a mound of jalapenos, the new nachos in the helmet thing sucked (they didnt even have melted cheese for it....). If I get a dog and peanuts and I'm pretty happy.

I'm torn on a lot of the college stuff. Yes, people are stupid for going to NYU for an art degree and taking out 200k in loans, that's just not a smart choice and will come back to haunt you. Is there priviledge there? Absolutely, but it's a private school and that's fine. That said, an instate student going to Illinois would still cost someone over $100k with room and board, that just isn't sustainable going forward. The s***ty thing is that we are dependent on state's providing a more affordable education and for the most part they either aren't providing enough funding to do so and/or mismanaging the crap out of funds and passing the burden down to students. There needs to be a change here, because how you screw over America going forward is having a labor force that isn't skilled enough to keep up with other countries. This is especially important for a country that relies so much on technical innovation to drive growth. Not sure what the fix really is, but I could get behind the following: -Federal universities, if states can do it why can't the fed? Have direct funding to these schools instead of state schools, eliminate some of the overhead scholarship funding costs and just build funding into tuition costs. -Grow funding for scholarships in math/CS/tech fields, to encourage students going into this field and continue pumping top notch students into the market One issue is that this a nationwide debate but the states control most of the power (with their state funded schools), we just rely on the feds for scholarships/funding/loans. I personally don't think that's a great situation.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) There are so many great steakhouses in town...honestly, just do some research on Trip Advisor, decide if you want on strip and off strip....then max out lol. Can't go wrong with most. Yea thats where I got Vic and Anthony's from. And i haven't been to downtown Las Vegas so we're going to make a night of it there.
-
Nice, hope it's everything you want it to be.

Probably a good question for Shack but looking for a nice steak dinner in Las Vegas, was thinking Vic and Anthony's and then hanging out around Fremont St for a night. Any opinions on that? Also, we're thinking of seeing a show, maybe cirque maybe a magic show. There's like 7 cirque shows going on it seems, I'm sure they are different but is there really a big difference in quality between them? Figured we'd look at the cheapest/most convenient option to our hotel.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) As the current college student, I'm in agreement here. I can easily see some of the crazier ones hitting like, 100. But if I had to guess the average would be between 4-7 One of my roommates my senior year hit about 40 (not every hookup was actual sex but whatever), and he dated a few of them for a bit during that period. He literally had 4-5 girls in a rotation at one point. Some people just hook up like crazy.
-
400 may be a bit much, but I know guys who slept with 25+ girls each semester. But essentially what I'm trying to say is that straight or gay there are people who get around, it's not a blanket statement either way. Could there be more sexual activity for young gay men on average? Maybe, I don't have stats on it and honestly what does it matter?
-
s*** 400 is just college for some people.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) How can you say that when you have extrapolated the entire gay lifestyle based on one sentence he wrote about other people he knows? He didnt say every gay man has 400 partners or more, he said he knows some that have. I know more straight men who have had exploits like that then gay men, but that's just within my circle of friends.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 06:18 PM) I will fight you. I got your back.

Awesome thanks guys! I used to paint back in high school as a side job but never purchased the paint myself, so wasn't sure where to go for that but it helps! There's a Sherwin Williams just a few blocks away so I'll probably start there.
-
So probably stupid questions here but hey I'm new to this: 1. This spring I'm going to repaint a lot of my condo, where do you all prefer to get paint from? Bigger places like Lowes or more specialty places like Sherwin williams? Or other places? 2. I've got hardwood flooring in most of the condo, near the living room there is a small opening between two boards. It's not really that visible but I'm wondering what I could do to fix it. It's collecting some dust/dirt in it so I'm guessing the sooner I fix it the better to avoid further separation or anything. There isn't anything visible as to why it's happening. Anyone deal with this before?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) I don't get what is so great about Chipotle. It isn't that good. There are so many dive type places I would rather go to that just blow it away. Give me a Taco Burrito King for starters. TBK is about as salty as food can get, really good drunk and terrible sober. Chipotle's chicken and guac is what has got me hooked, the beans/salsa aren't terribly impressive but are good enough.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) I got one and I've been eating there the whole time with no issues, Im a burrito bowl addict. Same, I get the same thing every time too. Brown rice Pinto Chicken Veggies Mild Hot Cheese Guac Lettuce If I'm not as hungry I may get half rice or no guac, but I'm hooked to their guac.

When people say "low risk/high reward" they really mean low risk/high potential reward, which is fair. It's just shortened it as it's a general acceptance that they mean potential. I get your point NSS as technically it isn't correct.

Is Tiley really being considered still? I mean I would love that but rumors kept saying that had ended.

Sounds like it's down to Whitman and Michael, praying for Whitman.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 7, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) It makes you long for the days of Ron Guenther. Illinois is a big university that has acted like a small D3 for a few years now. Uh no, Geunther did some decent things but man he ran the department and top basketball/football programs into the ground. We need someone who can get some donors behind them but also run a athletic department for for 2016 and beyond, and hopefully hire some good coaches.
-
Tiley is out of the running per Shannon Ryan, we're going to be stuck with Tom Michael aren't we? If we do I seriously may take a prolonged break from all Illini athletics, it would be just about the worst we could do.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Feb 5, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) Yeah i believe asshole governs via fiat and regulatory agencies...YES. He is a clown. A family in SF with a dead daughter says you are full of s*** like OBAMA... This is why people argue for stricter gun control.

I wish they posted at least the last 3 years worth of stats with them, while I'm guessing this is more of a perception thing I just didn't know enough off the top my head to really know for some of these guys.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 4, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) Heard he's probably transferring as well. Yea he's redshirting so he can be a 5th year grad transfer somewhere else, it's been the plan for awhile now.

A friend of mine is going through the nightmare of having bug beds in her apartment, any suggestions for how to threaten legal action against the landowner as it has been like 4 weeks and hasn't been resolved yet (bed bugs weren't wiped out, she's been living with a friend for the time). She doesn't want to pay her rent until it's resolved, good idea/bad idea? Appreciate the feedback.
