Yea I'm really warming up to Lovie, hopefully they have a stud OC in mind and some recruiters (keep Bellamy and Scheelhause?).

Lovie would need a helluva OC and recruiter to make that work. Not sure if we can find that now.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 01:38 PM) I agree with the premise but Whitman was just hired. Him deciding to move on is fine. It sounds like he has a coach ready to take over. Rumors point to Leslie Frazier at this point. I'm not really sure about that hire, he doesn't have a wow factor for me.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Not that it matters in this case but doesn't Tressel have a show cause penalty following him around? I think it just ended. But yea, he's not coming to Illinois.

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 04:38 PM) As much as Jerry Jones is an absolute douche this is really cool. I love me some 5 star hotels. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14878969...aining-facility That membership sounds awesome, $4500 plus $350/month is a pretty good deal considering the access to the team/players plus you get access to the fitness center, I'm surprised they don't charge more considering it's only 800 members.

Who else has started to prime again for the return of the show? The more and more I watch/reread the more I believe that the wall was built to keep humans out of whitewalker territory, not the other way around.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 12:28 PM) Man in the High Castle was disappointing, especially after the first episode. The world was set up and displayed so beautifully, it's a shame the story/characters sucked. I'm glad I watched it, and i'm sure i'll watch season 2, but i'm sad it isn't better. Has the chops to be a great, great series. There are some intriguing characters, they did some good things (like you said, the cinematography was fantastic), but they had a lot of filler in my opinion. Time to move some storylines, make things a bit more interesting.

Illinois finally figuring out scheduling for a rebuilding program, won't play a non-con P5 team between 2017-2020 seasons.

Eh I wouldn't say a ton of depth, the movie was about 90% action, 10% anything else. And that isn't a slight, it did exactly what it meant to do which was provide awesome entertainment for a few hours.

NCAA basketball 2015-16 thread
As much as I've lost faith in Groce, I think it's pretty clear that he is coming back next year. Getting Williams was a huge step though, there's still a chance he turns this around. Will Groce ever reach the potential we saw after his first year? Chances are real slim, but this at least gets us 1 step closer to being good again whether Groce survives or not.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 27, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Jordan Goodwin got an Indiana offer. Illinois offered awhile ago. He's just a junior, like Williams and is so explosive. Hope he grows a few more inches though. Really really want Goodwin, plus he's good friends with Tilmon.

Relationship Advice Thread
I don't think anyone here is saying an abusive 18 yr old is better than a mature and perfectly fine 25 yr old. That said, I have other reasons for the age difference. I would want my daughter to not feel limited in her choices after high school, and while a similar aged boyfriend can limit that I think there would be a much bigger chance in an older boyfriend limiting her more.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Jason, I think in general, you're suspicions are probably accurate...but, you wouldn't give the person an opportunity to prove you wrong? If my hypothetical daughter was in HS and dating anyone not in HS then yes, I wouldn't give them a chance.

Vacation/Travel Thread.
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) Yeah there's an insane amount of top of the line steak houses on the strip. I'm sure you can't go wrong really. Downtown Vegas is a different beast. It's way more low-brow than the strip, but a ton of fun. I always make sure to spend an afternoon or early night there. Everything is dirt cheap. 1 dollar drinks, 2 dollar tables. It's great. The light show is great at night. The zip line thing is fun, and relatively cheap (20 bucks I believe), but it takes a lot longer than you'd expect, even with a small line. I'd say the food is mostly garbage downtown, but I will say EAT is the best breakfast place I've gone to in all of Vegas. The famous heart attack grill is at the south end, but I wouldn't eat there. It's pretty funny to see regardless. Nice good to know, I'm excited to check it all out.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) Having two players get kicked of the team for committing crimes is not a good look when your team is losing a lot of games. Yup, you can have a clean program without any criminal issues and a bad season is slightly tolerable. Being a bad coach, not getting enough talent, not winning games AND not being able to control your players is about the worst you could do at the job. Time to move on.

While I've been pissed about the decline of the basketball program I was still onboard with Groce getting one more year, just felt with all the turmoil in the DIA and potentially recruiting the '17 class well I thought there was more chance that he would do better then whatever choice the DIA made. Now, with him not even being able to control his players time and again, it's just reached that point that Groce has to go. Still think he could be successful somewhere but it won't be here, everyone needs a new start.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) I still don't see the problem. If Apple can do it, and it's important, why not have them do it? Again, if we can't expect them to keep some software they're installing on a single device out of hacker's hands, then we shouldn't be confident they can keep other personal data secure. Gizmodo's article also brought up that his phone was an older iphone. If it had been a new iphone, this wouldn't even be a possibility. So i'm not sure if the "going forward" argument works. Every time you put information on anything digital you are taking a risk that information will be breached. You need to understand that first, if you don't like that risk then you shouldn't place that information out there (and lose the functionality it provides). Are the odds high that this would get breached? Nope. Is there a chance it could be? Absolutely. What would the impacts be if it does get breached? According to Apple it would be astronomical. So, is the risk worth the results?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) I'm in the same boat as you, obviously we're talking in layman terms here. But I don't see it as being any different than any other security protocol that big companies like Apple create. I'm sure hackers already try to exploit this stuff. They either have or haven't thus far. I'd rather Apple crack the code than Dimitri in the Ukraine. According to Cook the FBI wants Apple to create a different operating system and put it on this one phone. If we can't trust Apple with keeping this new OS safe, how can we feel secure that the private data they do have isn't safe? That's the thing, there is no current capability to hack, the FBI is saying to create this method for the future.

What Apple/Tim Cook is saying is that they need to create some method to access it, essentially a backdoor. You then have to protect that connection, most likely via a cert based encryption. While this would be very secure (and I'm sure they would do everything they could to protect it), once it's built it would then be target #1 for almost all hackers. Nothing is 100% safe, given enough time anything can be hacked. As someone who works in IT Security, and working for a company that publically announced a breach, it is EXTREMELY difficult to get a hacker out once they are in.
