QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Definitely. Well I mean jar jar was horribly written, but aside from that. Dude is there for comic relief. Absolutely not, he's more of a Han Solo replacement than anything.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) He was still probably 20-30 lbs over his original Star Wars weight. Yea I wasn't really disagreeing with the normal look, they nailed that pretty well. Was just pointing out that he definitely lost weight to prep for the role.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 05:51 PM) The demasking of Kylo Ren was great. Yes, it humanized him and made him look incredibly weaker, but that was the point. Dude was supposed to be a two-bit, wannabe version of Vader and that proved to be true. Now he goes for more training and we'll see from there. Didn't have a problem with Ray beating him since he took a blast from the most powerful hand blaster we've seen in Star Wars plus a few lightsaber hits at that point. He basically shouldn't have been alive by then. Makes more sense when you consider she likely had some sword training from Luke before. What I did have a problem was with was Finn holding his own vs him. Not force sensitive, no sword training and was mostly used for comic relief. Dude was this movie's version of Jar Jar Binks so that seemed out of place, even with Ren so injured. Uh no. Just no.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) Another thing I liked was that even though some of the characters were recycled, they were allowed to age (badly in most cases) and put on weight. That never happens in movies, but always in real life. Hamill lost a ton of weight for the role fyi.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) I think they are going to do a lot in terms of Kylo and presumably more info in terms of Rey as well and her development. Really just such an awesome movie. I was surprised by how much comedy was in it. Also, BB8 was way more fun/likeable then I expected, I thought there was a small chance it would be Jar Jar Binks'd, but it was done really well.

While I was slightly disappointed in Kylo Ren I think it was more in the fact that they didn't really go into why he left for the dark side. I'm guessing that gets developed in the next movie or two and I'm really excited for that. Snoke just didn't seem that intimidating and the CGI for him was too much like LOTR.
-
It was pretty freakin great. Only disappointment was I thought the villains were a bit weak, didn't hold a candle to the intimidation that Vader and the Emperor had. The dialogue in this movie may have been the best in the entire series.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) Bet they both go to Texas I don't think Thomas is a great fit for Shaka's system, otherwise it makes a lot of sense.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) Looks like a Ohio State freshman is transferring, not him. Whoa Grandstaff, that's a pretty big loss. Him and Elijah Thomas (Texas A&M) are transferring, wouldn't be surprised if it was to a place like Okie St.

Sox Acquire All-Star 3B Todd Frazier from Reds in 3 team deal

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) He was a bright spot in an otherwise s***ty season so I think it's natural. That said, I'm 100 percent with you, I enjoyed Trayce but selling high on him is the right move. Yup, he's a nice piece to have on a rebuilding team, see what you have without caring much about the extreme bust chance. But if you want to compete you really don't want to play that game. -

This is great. We gave up solid pieces but nothing great to get Frazier. While I'm not the biggest fan of his that's good value for him. Have to sign an OF now, you don't do these moves and then rely on Avi in RF. -
Well, no matter what the intention was Wisky has struggled hard in recruiting during this time.

I just don't trust Cespedes to continue to perform like he did last year. Upton is a huge risk as well but if we want to go for it we have to take on some risk.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) So this has nothing to do with Islam? Seems to me we are pretty weak in being afraid of the PC police on this one. [insert President or Presidential Candidate]: "Christianity is to blame for the recent [insert one of many terrorist attacks led by Christians]. Christianity is the root of this problem and we should block all Christians from entering this country. If you are a Christian then you support terrorism. It is imperative that we keep our country safe by refusing entry to anyone who finds Jesus Christ as their lord and savior." Yup, just a PC move.

Seeing it Thursday night, I'm sure it's a sold out show now but I purchased the tickets easily 2 months ago.

QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) lets see, there were 2 poster who mention this, and yet you took it upon yourself to attack me. not only really petty but extremely childish. how old are you????? That isn't a personal attack, it's questioning your logic. He's asking for your rationale/defense on why we should go with those types of players.

I grew up in great school districts (Oak Park and then Ann Arbor) and it really did help attending them, my high school had a fantastic reputation, offered a ton of support, had plenty of AP courses and prepped you well for college. That said, when I was at the U of I there were a ton of students from school districts that sucked. Obviously they were intelligent individuals but you could tell that they had great role models in their life. So essentially what I believe is that schools make an impact, but not as much as the support system around the student (and there is give and take between parents, community, and the school system). Also, I grew up right next to a private school (but I went to public school), those kids were nasty and insufferable. So glad my parents didn't send me there.

Not that this game really changed anything but I'm off the Groce bandwagon fully now, program needs a new coach but won't get one with the AD mess going on.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) Cubs should be able to afford this type of move though and it clearly makes them a better team. Good for the Cubs. That said, I can think over just the past few years how many teams were anointed offseason champs and never even made the playoffs. Think of the love the Nats have gotten in recent years, or go back to the Phillies when they added Roy and Cliff Lee and how good they were supposed to be. Baseball is fun because of that, nothing is guaranteed, that said they "should" be a beast for the next 5 years or so.
-
QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) Cubs still need another SP. That being said, they're going to be a powerhouse for a while. And they now have an expendable Soler to trade for one.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:24 AM) Actually he went to a psychiatrist. He had TWO appointments with a renowned psychiatrist (around these parts) then quit. I don't blame him. He said the first session was pretty good. Then he went back a few days for his second session and the psychiatrist kept asking him the same questions he asked at the first appointment! My friend said in an annoyed voice 3-4 times, "Like I said on Tuesday ...." It pissed him off the psychiatrist looked at his watch a couple times and also didn't take notes and didn't remember what was said on Tuesday!! YW. I feel bad because at the wedding the minister challenged the audience to help the two out and keep them on the straight and narrow. It was wild but it's like he knew my friend was a cheater type. What makes me feel bad is she used to talk to me on the phone when I'd call him or he'd call me to shoot the breeze. Now she gives me dirty looks and won't talk to me ostensibly because he sometimes tells her he's out with me to dinner when in reality he's seeing the mistress. Also she must think I'm a creep for never coming over to see the 2 kids when I'm going to dinner with her husband all the time (which I'm not doing). I'm part of the excuse list he has. She is a very nice woman. He said he's playing with fire cause he's still seeing a couple other women besides the wife. I did tell him, "You should just turn over a new leaf and starting today be a good husband and keep being a good father. You had a good run (in his way of thinking) and now spend the next 30 years of your life being devoted." He said he's addicted. Me telling the wife would be kind of a rotten thing to do IMO. They actually have a good relationship except for the straying. He's a good guy, a great dad and treats his wife well. Except for the straying of course. Nice to see good ole Christian values are still around these days.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) I would rather have Cespedes to be honest. Just a gut feeling on that so it doesn't really count but I think he will be a much better player for us than Upton. Cespedes just seems like a bust waiting to happen to me, probably just me though. BTW I think most of these big FAs are gambles, I don't think any of them are exceptional but you'll be paying that price for them. If we're going for it you need to get one of them though, can't keep wasting Sale and Abreu and we've put ourselves in this position.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Trayce has hardly exploded as a major leaguer. I think you read that wrong.
-
Holy crap, that is a serious haul. s*** I'd take that for Q easily. I mean, Q has to have more value to GMs then Miller right? This isn't some weird case that everyone is down on Q because he isn't a power pitcher or some s***...

There's a lot of practicality behind railguns, but the upfront cost is pretty massive.
