In other news, US Navy is doing sea tests of the newly commissioned USS Zumwalt. Super cool ship that is probably the start of a major shift in ship design to be stealthier.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) I just got semi hard reading that. Please give comcast some competition. It'll be so good for the market to have them here, hopefully it gets done in a reasonable amount of time.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) Purdue's phone ringing off the hook LOL I was thinking how Illinois, Purdue, Indiana and Rutgers were probably getting some calls with that news.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) Jay Bilas @JayBilas 1h1 hour ago Source: NCAA currently discussing rewriting bench decorum rules to curtail celebrations of Monmouth bench. Remember, it's about the kids! What a ****ing joke the NCAA is. Unreal. NCAA came out and said there was just a request to review them, they aren't doing anything about them (yet). For those who hadn't heard of this like me, article is here, captures are here.

This is just a hard thread to go through when a show you don't like is on and gets talked about. As someone who can't stand the Challenge I get the feelings, but there are other shows that I'm sure me and other posters talked about heavily that were hard to get through for others. Let's just move on and if new threads are desired to separate out larger discussions then let's make sure we are creating them.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) On the Illinois AD search: Lol. I have to admit it's fun to watch them fail. I was about to bring that in here, it's comical how bad Illinois administrators are.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 08:36 AM) More very real quotes from Illinois on hiring Cubit. Oh my god, just stop talking. Yikes, yea they need to just shut up and get out of the spotlight. Oh, and hire an AD.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) Oh my bad, I thought Golesh was the RC. He was at one point correct? I know he had huge influence in recruiting. Yea he was, Ryan took over last year so that Golesh could take a step away from the admin work involved in that role and focus more on recruiting/coaching. That role is a lot of planning and stuff then it is just straight recruiting. He's been one of our better recruiters though.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Illinois loses Alex Golesh (recruiting coordinator) to Iowa State.... Well Ryan Cubit was our most recent RC but yea, big blow to the staff. Not shocked at all by this though.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) It's going to be a huge meeting for the committee. Everyone thinks this team is in or this team is in. Nobody has a clue. Even Bama is taking heat currently for only beating one ranked team (#23). Also the reason UNC isn't getting respect is they scheduled 2 FCS teams. That's a horrible precedent they want to get away from. And they played Illinois, so 3 FCS teams really.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 09:56 AM) Terrible news for Thorne and just bad luck for the program. Hopefully Thorne can get a 6th year waiver. Illinois has 1 scholarship left for 16, so hopefully he is granted a waiver. Thorne/Morgan Black/Finke/Williams Hill/Jordan/Nichols/Austin Nunn/Coleman-Lands Abrams/Lucas/Tate Pretty good depth. It would be awesome if he actually is out for the season to be able to come back next year, we'll see how long he actually is out but man that lineup is definitely a tourney team. Note: not saying it's awesome that he's out, but this would be a great way to salvage a bad luck injury.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) Sounds like Thorne might need surgery and will be out for the year. How snake bitten is this program? It's just crazy at this point.

Greg, how do you not know what a citation is?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) It's really sad if Khan is offering to be their T Bone Pickens and they did this though. No excuse for it Illinois gonna illinois.

Illinois actually looking like a solid team for the first time this year. Having very one back is helping a ton.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) Future Illinois head coach That would be way too good for Illinois. Or are you calling for it 6 years from now?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) Rumors are that the new AD may be signed in the next week or so. The dude from Colorado seems like the logical choice. Logical for Illinois' side, I still think the chances of that happening are slim.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) What are you smoking? He's a guy with size that can shoot from range. And he showed to be pretty mobile running the break. He looked great for being a freshman. JCL looked like the real deal too, just needs to work on his ball handling and defense. I was pissed last night, but i'm a little more encouraged for the future. Finke and JCL look legit. Hill can still be a star. Black is still disappointing, not much growth in the game IQ department. Thorne had an awful game. And they were relying on heavy minutes from a walk on. All on the road against a pretty solid team led by one of the best players in the country. I don't think either of these losses will be bad ones, but they still hurt the tourney resume. Hopefully this is a team that's going to continue to grow into something good, much like Purdue last year. I'm pretty similar to this, but we can't afford to lose much more in non-con at this point. Gotta beat pretty good teams like Chattanooga now, no leeway. Hopefully we can surprise in Big Ten season but it's one area that I've been most critical of Groce and scared of, we just don't perform well in conference play. Hill, Nunn, JCL, Finke, Thorne, Black, AJ. That's a good core for this year, the defense is improving and if we can stay healthy we may have a shot at the tourney, but we'll need some upsets with some hot shooting games.
