  1. They would make them play that game vs BOS. But it's not that close. I was being too generous to CLE. WSox 77-47 (37+1 to play) Post-AS: 20-18 Indns 71-57 (34 to play) Post-AS: 24-16 (.600) Twins 67-60 (35 to play) Post-AS: 19-22 WSox since Thomas' last RBI or R: 15-18 (.455) Projected finish: WSox 94-67 Indns 92-70 Twins 87-75 (I'm being nice) Those games against CLE loom very large.

  3. Let's keep in mind no other team has stepped up to the plate for KGJ & Sweeney either. If that happens then sure JR should be blamed for not spending the $$. But until then I can't really blame him. As much as he wants to win next year he has to consider future years as well. Picking up any one of those contracts might mean having to let go of a starter. For a team built on pitching & defense that's the last thing you want to do. That's why the best strategy is keep the rotation intact for as long as you can & deal the chips to upgrade the offense. KW tried to do that but the Reds owner wasnt impressed with the chips being offered. KC would never trade Sweeney to the White Sox. You don't trade your best marquee player to a major rival.
  4. There is only one solution: ration consumption. It's pretty easy to implement as well. Most of the pumps today are software driven where the POS transactions are processed by central locations. I know because I wrote the initial software. You can put in a step size graduated tax system. First $20 at the pump = x% tax $20-$30 at the pump = tack on a y% tax $30-$40 at the pump = tack on a z% tax and so on. The same can be applied to energy bills. The more you consume in any one month the more you will pay in taxes. The tax money is then turned into subsidies for alternative energy sources. It will never happen though. The lobbyists from the automakers, oil companies, & energy companies are probably the most powerful in Washington.
  5. I've been preaching the gospel of energy conservation for well over 15 yrs now but no one listens. I believe it was 1988 when the report first appeared. By 2010 the world's demand for oil would exceed it's supply & the supply would continue to shrink each yr thereafter as demand grows. But no one listened. Including friends of mine who claim they are environmentalists yet have $200/mo electric bills & at least one gas guzzling SUV. I've been preaching the gospel of America-first since the late 80's but no one listened then either. Now I read a report that Disney has hired an independant auditor to review their shops in China. In that same report I learned that minimum wage there is equivalent to about 33 cents/hr or roughly 1/17th that of America. Yet no one seems to listen to that either. America is in for a rude-awakening with high inflation & high unemployment about to cave in our little fantasyworld before the end of the next decade. Maybe then they'll listen.
  6. Tell me again how SOXTALK isn't oppressive to the devoutly religious. Another thread proving it is. The man said "take him out." When asked again he said something to the effect he meant "remove from office." Yet here you are crucifying him, comparing him to Bin Laden, & militant muslim clerics. And you think you represent mainstream America? :rolly Mainstream America doesn't even know about this. They see Robertson as a man who has devoted himself to spreading the Gospel & doing what he can to help people. Mainstream America doesn't crucify the man in a sports message board. Any normal person reading your posts would quickly come to the conclusion that this is a place where extreme left-leaning members try to bash everyone else. It doesn't help the situation when ALL of the mods lean the same direction as well.
  7. SOX WIN ! SOX WIN ! SOX WIN ! SOX WIN ! SOX WIN ! SOX WIN ! It feels great to be dishing out the pain to the Twinkees instead of being on the receiving end. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! BABBBBY! I'm LUVIN' IT!
  8. I agree on the Blum acquisition. This is a big game at this time of the season. Twinkees will have to play close to .700 ball to catch us after this. That ain't happening. Assuming we win, it will take the pressure off those Sept games. 1 out, 2-1 W Sox B10 Jenks vs Bartlett. Good SS.
  9. Everett & Timo look like they got some good sized guts on them RON 1,2 2 outs 2-1 W Sox KONG AT THE PLATE! MAKE THEM PAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Timo gets the go-ahead RBI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2-1 WSox! Ozzie's faith in Timo is paying off.
  11. Ok not really. Blum just FAKKKKKKKKKKKKKED his SORRYYY ARSE OUT !! RON 1,3 0 outs. Timo up.
  12. Crede's out. Oh no. HBP on wrist. He was squaring up to bunt & the pitcher threw right at his chest.
  13. BLUM WITH A LEADOFF DOUBLE! WHOOOOOOOOOOOYAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
  14. Don't worry. Hermy held down the fort. Kong is pissed. Kong is going to enact his revenge now. It's funny. I use to be one of his detractor's. Now I'm one of his biggest supporters. What can I say? The man can pick them out of the dirt better than most. Is that + 35HR + 100RBI worth 50/4? I'm beginning to think the answer is yes.
  15. Timo has a good night & suddenly the team is considered with pitching again :rolly Bring up Owens. I think the Barons are in the playoffs so as soon as that's over with get that kid up here. If he doesn't nothing but PH & PR he still could be a difference maker.
  16. 95's a good bet. We've avg'd I think 14W in Sept over the past 5 yrs. Scrounging up another 5 wins beyond that is reasonable.
  17. Everyone has a price but the WSox don't have a history of meeting it I'm hoping it's Owens. It makes the most sense. A team rich in pitching & defense needs good base runners it can use as PR & PH late in games. Owens fits that bill.
  18. Post-AS: MinnT 19-21 1.23WHIP 3.36ERA WSox 19-18 1.31WHIP 3.63 ERA CIndn 23-16 1.23WHIP 3.91 ERA Tamp 24-14 1.41WHIP 4.35 ERA CLE entertains the D Rays just before the WSox to close out the season
  19. I think Kent would accept being DH for the next two months if it could get him a ring.
  20. Why hasn't Frank been put on the 60day DL? Does it have something to do with playoff shares? Maybe that's why MLB has given the White Sox some latitude here. Out of respect for Frank. There's not even a slim chance he'll play again this year so it doesn't have the effect of giving the White Sox any competitive advantage.
  21. The WSox have comfortable leads over both CLE & Minn. WSox 75-47 (39+1 to play) Indin 70-56 (36 to play) Twins 67-58 (37 to play) Let me put this in perspective for you. If the White Sox were to play as poorly as COL (.376) the rest of the way they would still finish with 90 wins. To catch the WSox the Indians (.555) would need to play .611 ball the rest of the way. To catch the WSox the Twins (.536) would need to play .675 ball the rest of the way. The best record in MLB is .627 & the 2nd best record in MLB is .615.
  22. It's not unreasonable to suggest the President of the USA should be transported in the most secure vehicles possible. Security relates to both horsepower & armor.
  23. In your world maybe. In mine I expect humans to fail regularly. That's why my work in computer science is devoted to automation & removing the human element from the equation. Likewise in my hobby of designing video games I try to anticipate human weakness & build hints & special sequences into play that overcome them. As for what he said I did not see the show so I can't comment. I am referring to the link at the top which is a reporters version. If he did say that on the show & there was no correction or clarification soon thereafter on that same show then the producer is at fault. He should have prompted someone present to ask Robertson the question I posted above right there & then. It's the producers job to insure that each production runs smoothly.
