  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) I actually cheered for the guy. He seemed pretty cool with the team. I'm not saying he's wrong, because he's wrong about a lot of things, but it wouldn't surprise me if all those players did do steroids. When it was released that he was signed with the Sox, my mom called me at my then apartment and wondered if it was me who called in and said it sucked they signed him because it sounded like I did at the time (I was recovering from oral surgery - 4 wisdom teeth and the person sounded like they were on pain killers). I laughed and said that I didn't think he sucked, just wasn't sure how it would turn out. Turned out my mom and I really liked watching him play - surprised the hell out of us.
  2. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) I mean fighting so hard that they close the company, whether it's a BS excuse or not. I agree it is BS. That's pretty much what Brian's company claimed - the union contract with the press operators put them under which was total BS - more like ineptitude in the accounting office and management.
  3. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) Glad to see this Union is looking out for the best interest of it's members. :rolly Unions have no control with keeping a company open - Brain found that one out the hard way. And when the "union" got a settlement from the owners he still go screwed out of his share because he and 2 other guys stayed on as a help to the owner to close things up. I hate his union with a passion. My dad's union isn't great, but they do a hell of a lot more for their members (janitors and cleaning people) than Brian's does (press operators and people associated with the printing industry).
  4. A couple of Jeff Burton boards and the Chicago board on The Knot. And an occasional Mercury board (mostly a couple Capri boards - the NECO board I was on once or twice was filled with too many males trying to compensate for a tiny pee-pee).
  5. 15: No - how is a dead guy gonna remarry?
  6. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Fairly easy but good one from a recent interview: A racecar drives a lap around a 1 mile track in exactly 2 minutes. How fast must the car go in its second lap so that the average speed for the two laps combined is 60mph? 90 mph? (First lap was 30mph and if the average of the 2 = 60, wouldn't it be (30 + x)/2=60 -> 120 = 30+X -> x=90?)
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) But nothing tops... "Excuse me while I whip this out..." That's my mom's favorite line. Of course my dad, brother and Brian like the fart scene the best - according to them that was the best dialog in the movie.
  8. Wooh, good. Brian's last company f***ed him on his. He filled out all the paperwork and his current company sent it in, but they still cut him the check (something like 1/3 of it went to taxes and penalties).

    Tax Question

I rolled over my 401K into an IRA. Does anyone know what kind of tax implications will this have, if any?
  10. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Negative. Harvey Korman "Go do that voodoo that you do so well!" That line from Blazing Saddles always makes me laugh.
  11. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) This goes into my "When did it become cool to..." List. Along with: Blackout covers for head and tail lights (Yeah, it's cool that it makes it difficult for the guy behind me to know that I'm stopping) Brian had those on his 93 Cobra for a short time. There is one existing picture of it and I found it. (Understand that he denied they were as dark as they were until I found evidence! ) There are tail light covers on his ASC McLaren Capri, but they aren't dark at all and are used for body line melding (or something to that effect), but I still don't like them.
  12. Lol - don't be sorry Soxbears. I have actually spoken to high schoolers about becoming engineers, just can't do that anymore as I don't buy into that line of though myself anymore.
  13. I really hate the field I am in (I am in electrical engineering) and have been trying to figure out if there is anything else in the world where I can use my degree, but not actually be an engineer. As much as I don't want to take a pay cut (still owe on my student loans), I am willing. If it wasn't for the freaking wedding in October I would get up and quit my job this second. It is greatly disappointing to me to feel this way as the internship I had in college was phenomenal. The job world, post graduation, has sucked more than anything that has sucked before. Sad thing is, most of the crap that is infuriating me is certainly happening in other fields. Does anyone know of a good book or site that discusses career changes and what degrees can be used for what?
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) Not going into detail about the frog legs or snails? My grampa loved frog legs. My opinion on them: :puke
  15. Brian May, Roger Taylor and the lead from Bad Company are touring England as Queen. Sorry, but a big :fyou goes out to them for using the Queen moniker. When Freddy died, Queen died. If they named the trio Queen Revisited or something like that, I don't think it would bother me so much.
  16. That had to suck. I saw it on nbc5.com before I left for work and was grateful that the company moved from Skokie to Rolling Meadows lol.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) Oven Mitt>>>>>>>>>>Kick in the nads>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Joan Cusak. Sorry, but she was awesome in the Muppets Christmas special from a couple years ago. The scenes between her and Pepe were priceless. I can't help it I am helplessly in love with that damned Prawn! hahahaha
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) DefinItely, too. Me three.
  19. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Come on, Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg is a can't miss combo. At worst this movie will be above average. As in, better than The Core, I,Robot, Day After Tommorow. Can't stand Tom Cruise as an actor, but if anyone can make his acting seem good to me, it would be Spielberg.
  20. Brian and I enjoyed it enough to want to see more. The horny German fish was hysterical.
