QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 06:41 PM) Anderson has zero value. He wouldn't snag anyone near the names you mentioned. Also, the Devil Rays aren't going to trade Crawford or Baldelli for Broadway and a tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Trade ideas I hate to start a holy war here, but Anderson has value. I'll just leave it at that. However, I agree with the trade ideas talk...jeebus, it's February. Pretty much every roster is set and there's about a 5% chance of a big trade for any team occurring, let alone 3 by the White Sox themselves.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 04:16 PM) .320 BA 10 HRs 55 RBI 75 SB .375 OBP I'm just had 3 glasses of vodka/redbull. vodka/redbulls are so f***ing good anyways, .340 OBP, s***ty in stealing bases, bad for the Sox overall. Hopefully traded by mid-year. -
The first time I ever recall hearing about the White Sox or even seeing their logo was at my grandparent's house. My grandpa was a huge sports fan, but just casually watched baseball. The game was on, and the White Sox were playing Baltimore - I believe in Baltimore - and they jumped out to a 3-0 lead. There was a rain delay at some point in the game, I played with toys for about 3 hours, and I came back and saw that the Orioles ended up winning like 13-3. The first game I actually ever remember watching a significant portion of was the Lyle Mouton walk-off homer game against Texas in 1996. The Rangers were off to a 7-0 or 8-0 start that year, and they tied the game up and then took the lead, only to give up the tying run in the 10th, and then the 3-run, walk-off homer to Lyle in the 11th. As I recall, he hit the s*** out of the ball.

My first winter in Bismarck, we had a week of snowing, blowing, and temperatures in the -30 range, and I think it touched -40 too. The worst was that my dad was out of town that week, and I got stuck shoveling in the morning, every morning. Week.from.hell(freezing over).

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:20 PM) I can say with 100 pct certainty that one of the reasons he's so low on the list is because they know what his status is within the organization. That's undeniable. However, that doesn't change any potential future he has in baseball; just his future with the White Sox. There probably aren't 29 other teams who would give him a shot, but I'd venture to bet that there are a few who would take a flyer on him just to see what he has to offer at the MLB level.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) Carr's first full season playing in the league: 62.8 QB rating 9 TD 15 INT Grossman: 73.9 23TD 20INT Nah, Ill take Rex Twist stats much? Last time I checked, Grossman was drafted a year after Carr. First full year in the league, JFC, he's gotten injured! Who cares how many full years he's had in the league anyways? He's been in the league 4 years, opposed to Carr's 5. And, other than like the first 10 games of his career, Grossman's had every opportunity to start, and has gotten injured every year except this year. You can't just discount that dude. Honestly, I see that as more of a testament to Carr than it is to Grossman, especially considering he set an NFL record for times sacked his rookie year. Also, Carr has never had a good O-Line, he's had 1 good running back (who just so happened to be injury prone), and he's had all of like 2 weapons to throw to at any point in his career (Johnson and Moulds). Grossman had a good O-Line this year, he had 2 good running backs, and he had a plethora of options all over the receiving corps (Moose, Berrian, Davis/Bradley, along with Clark too), and he was still below average. Basically, if Carr doesn't have to be the man - and he won't in Chicago - I think he'd be a very solid option at QB, and he could be very good, perhaps good enough to put up a QB rating in the 90s. If he can play a full season with a garbage O-Line and mediocre receivers, and still only throw 12 picks, I'd be curious to see how he could do in a system where he had an O-Line and ton of guys to help him otherwise.

So I'm wondering...was the dalmatian Budweiser commercial supposed to be funny? cute? I just don't exactly understand what they were aiming for.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 10:56 PM) yeah, who wouldnt want 11 Td's and 12 INT? Who wouldn't want a guy with a QB rating of 82.1 and a completion percentage of 68.3%? It's sure as hell better than Grossman's 72.3 and 54.6 respectively. And those 12 INTs, BTW, are a hell of a lot better looking than Grossman's 20.

I will say Carr would be a great addition to the Bears. In their style of offense, you don't need a great QB to win; you just need a QB who can manage the game and not lose the game itself. Grossman has done that on many occasions this year (including the Arizona game, even though they won), but I don't think Carr would. And, if what I recall hearing is correct, they just want like a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him. That should be a no-brainer for Chicago. Plummer will be available too, but he can take the form of Grossman on occasion too where he'll flat out lose a game for his team.

QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) Peyton Manning is named MVP. Um....no! Addai and Rhodes should be Co. There's no doubt about that. Regardless of the game he had, you knew he wasn't going to be denied MVP in his first Superbowl victory. Addai could have rushed for 300 yards and Manning would have been the MVP.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) To show the mentality of a cub fan. 1) Would you go to the Metrodome to see the Twins in the World Series play........say the Astros If yes above 2) While at the Twins WS game would strike up a conversation with Kerry Wood who is wearing an Astros hat. If yes above 3) Would you take a picture with him and then pass it around If yes to all of the above and if Kerry Wood was cool what would you then do with it. Personally if Kerry Wood was cool, I would now like him more brag about how awesome it was to watch a World Series game with a professional baseball player who is a fan like me. Am I dellusional? Why would a cub fan venture to St. Louis to watch them in the WS, they are losers all around. If you gave me tickets to see the Tigers in the WS, I would pass because my guys aren't there. You wouldn't go to the World Series even if it was free? To potentially see your favorite team's rival be defeated? At some point, it becomes a bit about pride in your team, and not wanting to see your rival win. Or, perhaps in others cases, they want to see their favorite team's league win, which is also completely understandable. If the Tigers played the Dodgers in the World Series, I was in Detroit, and I was given free tickets, I'd put on blue and white so fast your head would spin (or at the very least, cheer on the Dodgers, because I'm not about to drop $200 just for apparel to one game) Next, if I saw any famous person, and he was sitting by me, I think I'd want to try and socialize or get a picture with him. If said famous person were by chance a baseball player, and he was wearing a Tigers hat, I'd still want that picture - perhaps even moreso now that I know I'd be able to stir up a little controversy. Neither scenario is completely unrealistic, but I'm going to believe Buehrle over that other guy just because I'm a blind homer. I don't know that guy's name, don't know where he's from, don't know his family, and quite frankly don't really give a damn. Buehrle's a pitcher for the Sox, and he's given the MLB club 6-7 years of good pitching and consistency, with nothing going on in the media except for a few of these "Cardinal controversies." He was a huge part in the Sox winning a World Series, and I'll forever be grateful of that as a fan of the team. Seriously...you're going to believe some random guy who happened to snap a picture of he and Buehrle over Buehrle himself?

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 09:00 AM) Terrible command, bizarre mechanics and the manager doesn't like him. doesn't sound like much of a future to me. Respectable stuff and a funny arm angle because of the mechanics. I see no reason why he can't be a middle reliever. And the MLB manager not liking him isn't even close to justification as to why he'd be this low on the prospect list. Get f'ing real, Ozzie Guillen not liking him isn't going to affect how he pitches if he ends up in Baltimore. All it means is that he has no future with this organization, unless Guillen were somehow fired.
