  1. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) Way to show some class there Mr. Foxx, I would say what I think of you, but it's probably not Soxtalk appropriate. What an idiot. I sense a bit of facetiousness, but maybe that is just me. Because, as PA alluded to...who puts up their dukes anymore?
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 10:42 AM) Even in 2005, Pods was a waste of running with all his steals considering how much he got caught , and his OBP was very pedestrian for a leadoff hitter. In the second half, after his injury. He stole at an 83% clip in the first half, when he could actually run well. He also got on at a .369 clip too. So basically, pretty much what everyone's been saying - Podsednik was valuable and a good ballplayer for the White Sox for a little over half a season in his 2 year tenure...pre-ASB 2005, postseason 2005, and May 2006. (cannot believe I am defending Podsednik) There is a possibility...probably a very good one...that the injury he had in the second half of 2005 has made him into a very bad ballplayer. If he gets completely healthy, he might be able to turn back into a .300/.370 80% SB% type ball player. I don't think it's worth the gamble, but there's a chance at it.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) He is pretty brutal at 3B, good at 2B, decent in the OF with an average arm. I've heard GG-caliber in LF, while above-average in CF And at this point, I am pretty much for any deal that brings Santana in. That would be solid.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) God, I think I'm in love.
  5. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) Does anyone mask their ip addy. I'd really like to this. I mean, all those creeps with those sigs that know what browser I'm running! the Penguin in those sigs tracked me down and beat the s*** out of me one night no joke
  6. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) The thing about Young is that he's essentially Mike Cameron except with the potential to be better. A gold-glove worthy CF that smacks around 25 homers and gets on base at a decent clip and steals some bases is damn hard to find. Chris Young has the potential to be that player as soon as next year and will probably be a very good players for the next 10 years. I was against the trade at the time and I'm still against it. Young might not be the best pure hitting prospect in all of baseball but as a valuable CF I think he might just be the surest bet for a good career. Oh there's no doubt I love what Young brings to the table. He's an extremely valuable ballplayer who will almost constantly be undervalued by most. GG defense and an .850-.900 OPS is solid as hell though. All I was really arguing was the fact that he was the best all-around prospect in the baseball. It's all arbitrary, but that's just a bit of a ridiculous statement.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) I'm not 100% sure, but I think we control Crede through 2008...? Ya, and I'm in complete agreement with KevHead. I don't think there's any chance that Crede resigns with the White Sox unless he has a sudden change of heart and cares more about staying in Chicago than about getting the fattest contract he can. The Sox would dish out the money, but they're not going to give 6/$84, which is probably what Crede would be asking for and could possibly get beyond 2008, given the market dying a little bit and him still playing at his 2006 level. If the market gets crazier and demand raises (somehow, someway), I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him at around $16-17 mill a year.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) they also arent shopping K-rod and Vlad like they are Shields. The Sox only real need in the pen at this point is a long reliever. That's not Shields.
  9. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) It was a bad trade. And I think it possibly will be one of Brock-for-Broglio proportions (that's right --I said it -- Chris Young has HOF type talent). .276/.363/.532/.895 in the friggin PCL. Hall of fame talent, are you kidding me? He'll likely be an all-star, but I seriously doubt he has any real chance of being a Hall of Famer. Is that a joke? Delmon Young, Brandon Wood, Alex Gordon, and Andy Marte mean nothing to you? You're guessing it's better, while I know it's the worst. You don't trade Vazquez straight up for Milledge in this market, because that's flat out dumb. It's not like the guy doesn't have stuff. It's a matter of putting it together. Jose Contreras did it, so it is possible.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) Its called "collusion" and its illegal. Its also something that got MLB sued and convicted back in the 80's. They would be stupid to do it again. They're stupid Except this time it was on a much lesser scale.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Anyone can skew stats to say what they want, but lets be a little more fair. Killebrew put those numbers up over 22 seasons and 2435 games. McGwire did near the same over 16 seasons and 1874 games. This is not a fair comparison do you think? It's not as good as I thought it was initially, but it's still a fair comparison in my mind.

    QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) the 360 if you buy the internet adapter with is like only maybe 120 dollars cheaper than the ps3.. maybe a little more. And than since ps3 has free internet and 360 doesnt thats another 60 dollars a year. And than the fact that the ps3 is just a better system unless your a halo fan... Seeing as how I've never really ever had the urge to play online, a PS3 makes little sense for me QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) I think it broke and there is a recall. lolz, pwn3d
  14. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Rotation: Same as 2006 Not cool at all.
  15. McGwire - .263/.394/.588/.982 and 583 career homers in the juiced ball era Killebrew - .256/.376/.509/.885 and 573 career homers in the raised mound era Killebrew was elected to the HoF 9 years after retirement Based on numbers alone, McGwire shouldn't be a first ballot Hall of Famer. Add in the steroid controversy, and there's question that he should get in as quickly as Killebrew did.
  16. QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Whats the point of a pajamagram if the main goal is to get her butt nekkid? Foreplay, duh

BILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLS ILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSB LLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLSBILLS Going into the year, I didn't think they'd be mathematically alive right now. They're a ridiculous loss to Detroit and a missed FG against Indy away from being 7-4. It's not likely, but if they can find some miracle and beat San Diego next week, I think I'll become a little more optimistic about their postseason chances. They'll still have to earn it, seeing as how they have to face a good Jets team in the Meadowlands, along with a rejuvenated Dolphins club - though that's in Buffalo, where it should be nice and cold. Then Tennessee, and a Ravens team that should be playing their second string. Of course, a loss next week and it's time to build for next year, but I'm dreaming anyways.
  18. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) There is so much silly, irrational, emotion-based talk about Podsednik being a major problem, a major reason for the Sox failure to make the playoffs, a terrible player, and now even not fast (while he was one of 10 players to steal 40 bases, and didn't even play every day). Perhaps not fast was the wrong terminology, but he hasn't been able to steal at a productive rate since his injury in 2005. What good is speed if it doesn't result in stolen bases, or rather, PRODUCTIVE stolen bases? The occasional infield single? the 3 runs he'll score from first all year on gappers that no one else does? Big f'in deal. He's getting on base at a jacks*** rate, so it hurts the team to have him on the club. Jermaine Dye could steal 40 bases too, but he'd steal them at about a 50% clip, so it wouldn't be productive enough to make a difference.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) Reed will never be that sexy. atleast he's not a communist
  20. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) Speed. Ozzie wants speed. Pods can hit 280 batting 9th with 40 stolen bases easily if healthy. Crisp, Crawford, Figgins or Patterson is what I mean by fixing center with someone who can lead off. If Pods can not perform well enough to lead off, move him to 9th. Well, Pods pretty much proved last year that he's not fast anymore, didn't he? Also, the only way CF is getting upgraded is through a huge upgrade. None of those are a huge upgrade, especialy seeing as how Crisp and Crawford would be playing out of position (though I do believe Crawford could probably play an adequate CF). Pods is just an absolutely horrid choice for the LFer next year. I really can't think of a worse option...honestly. QUOTE(beautox @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 05:07 AM) Seriously, All this affection going around for Podsednik and Figgis is making me want to heavily. Chone is a lateral move, and not much of a move at all, esp if its going to cost anything in terms of talent, did everyone suddenly forget that Scioscia was batting him 9th near the end of the season???? Add to the fact Chone is only 2 years younger than scott and i say no thank you. The only person i would want coming back our way from the Angels to lead off it Reggie Willits, lead milb in OBP and is a excellent bunter and exceptional out in CF and all around badass lead off man, and hes a switch hitter, sign me up. I'd rather deal Podsednik to the rockies for Patton and Morillo or the Padres since Roberts appears to be on the verge of signing with the Giants. If we can't get Willits. I'd rather have KW sign Lofton to a 1-2yr deal as a stop gap and eventually a 4th OFer(2008) or Guillen to an incentive laden deal. Next years crop of FA is going to be much much better, and Ichiro is tired of playing on a non contender. In closing Chone Figgins is a 1337 SuX0r I disagree with quite a bit of this. For starters, I don't see Figgins instead of Podsednik as a lateral move at all. Figgins is much better defensively, he's a better fundamental baseball player, and he can actually steal at a productive rate. Add to that his versatility, and he'd be a great addition IMO to this team next year, so long as it doesn't cost f'in Crede (which would be completely ridiculous if Stoneman asked for that after the years both had) I've already talked about Willits before, and I'm just not comfortable going into the year with a rookie leading off. However, at this point, it may be the only option. Also, I'm almost positive Lofton has no shot of signing here. He wasn't well thought of in the clubhouse while he was here. What people also need to realize is that the Winter Meetings haven't even come yet. There's still a ton of time for moves and upgrades to happen. Hell, KW struck with the Hermanson and Dye signings in early December before the 2005 season and I thought it was early. There's plenty of time...just be patient.
  21. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) Fix centerfield with someone who can lead off. Let Pods earn his job. I want him back because I feel he is worth the risk. Pods has had every opportunity to earn his job, and he has lost it many times. Because Ozzie has a mancrush on him, he is still a member of the White Sox. Also, your statement is a bit contradictoral(maybe not the exact word I'm looking for, but it will work). If "fixing CF" (which will not happen, BTW, unless it is a huge upgrade - meaning I see no way in hell it's a leadoff hitter) solves our leadoff problems, then why in the hell would Podsednik be on the team? I can probably find 5-10 non-prospects on AAA clubs that could put up .270/.350/.400/.750 lines in LF while playing mediocre defense and stealing bases at a horrendous rate. Podsednik is unnecessary at this point in time. (and yeah, I know, Ozzie's a dumbass...I've made the argument. It doesn't change the fact that Podsednik blows and has to go)
  22. 300 pound Caballo will be really fun come 2009
  23. People WANT this guy back? What the... Do any of these people who want him back remember how detrimental he was to the offense in the second half? I don't think they do.
  24. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) When he was with the Mets he lost custody of one of his children for "excessive corporal punishment." Something that happened atleast 10 years ago is still being held against him today? That's a bad deal and all, and I feel sorry for the kid, but I really don't consider that a character issue today considering how long ago it occurred.
  25. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) At his best, he can manage a .350 OBP with no power. Overestimating the value of speed and maybe a .350 OBP leads to mistakes like trading for Podsednik. Let us not repeat that mistake. That trade won the White Sox a World Series, so if that's a mistake, let's hope KW f***s up bad this offseason.
