QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) It's too bad we're not in the NBA, as the NY Knicks would sure love to take Duque's contract off of our hands. I wish Steve Phillips were still GM'ing. He loves ugly ass contracts. Maybe the Yankees, with their rotation as ugly as it's ever been, could think they'd be able to find life in Duque. It's happened before.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) I know it's small potatoes but these guys have been the bane of our existence for the past four seasons. They gawn from the AL Central after one more loss or Sox win. I for one wil not shed a tear seeing these guys eliminated. Truth be told though, they have great fans. Classy as hell, nice as hell...Jim is about the exact same as any other Twins fan I have encountered. I absolutely despise the Twins, but that is, for the most part, only when the Sox are still alive mathematically in the race. I was one of the few on here rooting for them last year against New York.

QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) thats an oxymoron if i've ever read one It wasn't made for your entertainment, it was made for Sox fan's entertainment, as a whole. You can speak your mind all you want to, but if what you are saying and doing is bringing down the entire atmosphere for the group and it makes it an unenjoyable place, then you'll have problems. Feeding the trolls will bring more and trolls to the place, thus creating an unenjoyable atmosphere.

After the fact, is that better Rex?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) This is going to be a really s***ty series for Sox fans. Says who?
-
Marte is f***in back. You watch him pitch at any time prior to this Minnesota series, and he had no confidence. This series, he had all the confidence in the world. I love it.
-
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) How is that a trivia question?? Where is the "this thread sux" smiley? Apparently, fans are not allowed to vent when a team has the f***in bases loaded with no outs and can't score because the next 3 hitters tries to tie the game when down 5-0. THAT is what is wrong with Chicago baseball right now. Get back to getting base hits. Homers are effecient, but are way, way, way too rare. Unless that was humor and I am just blind because I hate not scoring with the bases loaded and no outs.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) I would not be happy to settle for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. FWIW, Wild Card teams have won the World Series the past 3 years.

QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) i thought it was funny Ya I did too
-
When the score is 5-0, can you tie the game with one swing of the bat? The answer is of course no...and I think someone needs to tell that to atleast Everett and Dye, perhaps Rowand too.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) .270 or so 20-25 HR 75-90 RBI I could most definately see it. He's also a Boras 3Bman. So is Beltre. I'd atleast hang onto Crede and get our full 6 years out of him.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) I still think Crede is going to prove to be a solid ML 3B. I think Jurassic is quickly approaching the end of the line. Just because I'm curious, it's late, and I wanna start conversation... How solid do you think? .250 20 70 .750 OPS and like top 3-5 defensively in the majors, or perhaps better than that, say around .275 25 100 .825 OPS and still the same range defensively at his peak? Or somewhere in between? I also agree very much on Everett. Perhaps a decent 4th OFer as his career winds down, but I don't invision much more than that.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxgt @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) Hunter in Center, Rowand in Left and Pods in Right, and have Anderson as the DH . i dont think anybody likes Everett and if u do theres something wrong with you. :banghead
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) I don't know if I want Crede back next year (scratch that -- I don't want Crede back next year), but I think this team is better with him at the hot corner, rather than Blum/Ozuna. I don't appreciate his defense enough... He goes to his left extremely well. Down the line, to his right, I don't think his range is that great, but he makes plays to his left that a shortstop is usually supposed to make. I've grown to appreciate his defense more this year...perhaps he has just improved defensively this year and I noticed. I always thought he was quite overrated defensively in past year...good glove, no range. This year, I see different...I see him being able to get to several balls, I see him making solid plays, I see a very strong, accurate arm...top 3 defensively in the AL, probably

The Twins got their closer for atleast a couple more years, one of their top prospects in Liriano, and another solid prospect in Boof Bonser...the last 2 both being SP's...for AJP, who was out of San Fran after one season. They got Carlos Silva and Joe Roa for Eric Milton, who was out of Philly after - you guessed it - one season. I have looked for the Twins to trade Hunter for a year or 2 now. Making $8-10 mill a year, while putting up .270 25 80 25 .800 type years, is not worth half that, and I would say that his defense makes up the other half of what me makes yearly. If he goes to Chicago, I'm sure you'd look for Patterson, and like 2 other solid as players too to be involved...and then Patterson will turn into f***in Ken Griffey Jr part deux for Minnesota.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) I'm afraid "Judy" has returned. We never win in Minny in September. Not a good combination. Let's hope like a motherf***er Judy stayed in Kansas City. -

Hasn't Denver always been bad in Miami? Something to the tune of neverwonthere-5683? -
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) God forbid there is some competition for this Division Title, It makes things fun... In '83 we won the Division by 20- lost in 4 In '93 we won the DIvision by 8- lost in 6 In '00 we won the DIvision by 5- lost in 3 Lets win it by 1 and see what happens then!!! We tried that once already in 2003. We were up in the division by 2 games heading into August, with 7 games left versus Minnesota. We won the first 2, Jose Paniagua did a little something-something on the mound, and we lost the next 5. I'm not about to want to go down that route again.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) Hawk was fawning over Zach Grienke again. Has he watched any other team besides the White Sox play? He does realize just how bad Grienke has been this season, right? Overused joke alert... I'm sure he would like to add him, but he's not sure where he would play.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) BMAC=2004's Danny Haren. Young guy stepped up big in the playoffs. Brandon can do the same Let's just hope he isn't traded during the offseason for a good, but slightly overrated starting pitcher

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) But he is smart enough to lead a team to the best record in the AL... You can have an IQ of 2 and lead a team to the best record in the AL if your team loves you and will run through walls for you, along with catching fire at the same time. Case in point, Ozzie Guillen. Ozzie is quite possibly the worst in game manager in the majors. There's no other way around it. It was looked over early on in the year because the team had a knack for coming back in a big way...you haven't seen that nearly as much in the latter part of the season, thus resulting in a slightly above .500 record in the second half of the season, along with inconsistency, and Ozzie's moves are being magnified now because of it.

QUOTE(wsox08 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) It's basically who are you tired of ESPN talking about... so both.. I still find myself laughing at the lead story on ESPNews being Barry Bonds taking f***in batting practice. "This just in, Barry Bonds hit some baseballs today!" -
