  1. QUOTE(El Caballo @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) I remember when everyone wanted Buehrle gone because of his career low 14 wins. Everyone? I think not
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) You would be wrong then. Yesterday on ESPN 1000, Bruce Levine said that there were a few teams interested in Borchard. The Sox are probably asking for more then a bag of balls.
  3. QUOTE(backman @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) i like sanchez for his speed, he should use it more! (first he needs a team tho) He only like led the majors in bunt hits last year...and he played like half the year...not sure how much more you can use your speed then that.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) he is still with the organization because he bust's his ass off as hard as anyone and he is fan friendly.... also sox dont want to admit they made a mistake yet They already know they made a mistake. I can almost guarantee you that
  5. I hate to even think of this now, because it is so far away...but if/when we make the playoffs, is that not like having Josh Beckett circa 2003 in your rotation for the stretch run? Having that young stud just get hotter then hell and lead your team a long ways? Personally...I do think Contreras could be either in the bullpen or completely gone by midseason...if they can't fix him and make him a decent pitcher, I expect a salary dump of some type(perhaps similar to the deal we made last year, only this time we would be getting the Loaiza), and for BMac to be put into the rotation. We still have the depth pitching wise, because we trade Contreras for the swing man type. I know one thing...BMac excites the hell out of me. Having him in our system is just simply awesome.
  6. DB...I did get the draft time changed. Draft is now 3-19 at 10:00 PM CT
  7. *nicely bumps* need a lot of teams still And DBAH0, I can look to move it back, but there are no guarantees.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:27 AM) I guarantee there are a ton of 8th graders that could beat you. In North Dakota? or even Iowa? Now, if they are 6'5 200 with a great jump shot, I'll give you that
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) Why? You said you can only hit rim one out of five tries and cannot dribble period. I hit rim more then that. And I could beat an 8th grader...even if that 8th grader is good.
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) You guys are knocking the intangibles, but there is logic behind the fact they are grading that. For example, KW has focused on acquiring "grinders". Not stat guys, but guys that play baseball to win. AJP can be an intangible himself. Will he be a problem in the clubhouse, or just irritate the hell out of the opposition? Sure, intangibles are not measurable, but they can be intelligently examined and given a probable grade. When you constantly win games like they do, lucky wins become non-existent. Intangibles are very, very real. Intangibles are also the reason Timo Perez is back at $1 mill...and almost all of White Sox nation is still wondering WTF...$1 f***in million? That is like them giving me a minor league contract.
  11. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) BTW, nice team Aboz. If I were you, I'd try to unload Jason Kendall for another damn good starting pitcher (as you already have AJ). Jason will give you batting average and runs, but not much else. Maybe 15 SB if he's lucky. He's damn good, don't get me wrong, but he is waaay overvalued. You could get something nice in return. I will almost be willing to put my house on the line that Kendall does not steal 15 bases...if he does, it will be his own doing. The A's stole 47 bases as a team last year, and that was with Byrnes stealing over a third of them(17). The last time he stole 15 bases was 2002, and he was caught 8 times too, giving him a 65% SB rate, which is not good in the A's eyes. I'm almost positive Macha will say do not run to him.
  12. .217 average, and 4 homers, and he's playing well. Makes me sad.
  13. I'd prefer Walker on the 25-man over Cotts, quite honestly. Doing that allows the Sox to have Cotts start in AAA, stretching him out for 06, when the Sox will almost undoubtedly need another starter in the rotation. If he pitches well enough to make the roster, I have no problem with it at all. He has been a career NL pitcher, so the AL will not be used to seeing him(which may mean very little...but I'm sure there is some value to it). The worst thing about him appears to be the amount of men he walks. In his career, he has 95 IP, and 58 BB...or a BB/9 of 5.50. But a career BAA of .213 isn't horrible by any stretch of the imagination. Also, career wise, he appears to be Luis Vizcaino of 04...a career BAA vs RHB of .185, vs LHB of .247...scary thing is that his WHIP is the same for both(1.39)...what makes that as scary as it does is that his career BB/9 against RHB is 6.7(40 walks in 54 IP). Like I said...I'm not opposed to having him on the roster over Cotts at all, especially if it means Cotts is starting in AAA...but if he is on the roster, it will be WALKER TIME.
  14. If you lose, I will personally go down to Oelwein, and I will hit you with a stick -->
  15. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Worst trades of all time possibly? Looking back in hindsight, probably not. Losing Kip hurt, but Fogg is mediocre, and Lowe has been s***ty everywhere since. What would have been worse was if the Sox kept Ritchie for another year or two, and he still continued to suck. Atleast KW accepted his f***up and moved on. It was very bad...but I wouldn't say one of the worst of all time.
  16. I was gonna, but like you said, if no one else is, then eff you all. :finger
  17. I'll take it if no one else wants it. I don't need to be in...I'm already in like 6 if you count Cheat's salary cap league...but if you can't find an owner in, say, like a day, I'll sign up. Or I can just sign up if you want. Either/or
  18. My final four = Illini, Wake, Cuse, UCONN*** Championship = Illini-Cuse Champion = someone wearing orange and blue I like Nova, and I think they are a Final Four sleeper(and if they can get through their field, they could be one of the favorites, knowing how hard their schedule is and how well they are playing)...but I couldn't stand having them there. They play one of the more underrated teams in New Mexico in round 1, possibly the hottest team in the country in Florida in round 2, the most talented team in the country in UNC in the Sweet 16, and then a very, very solid team in UConn in the Elite 8. It is too risky.
  19. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) Hmmm. Which group deserves the A, and which group is more like a B- at best? Rotation 1. J. Santana 2.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP 2. B. Radke 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP 3. Carlos Silva 4.21 ERA, 1.43 WHIP 4. Kyle Lohse 5.34 ERA, 1.63 WHIP 5. Joe Mays 6.30 ERA, 1.52 WHIP Bullpen Joe Nathan 1.62 ERA, 0.98 WHIP Juan Rincon 2.63 ERA, 1.02 WHIP J.C. Romero 3.51 ERA, 1.33 WHIP Jesse Crain 2.00 ERA, 1.07 WHIP Grant Balfour 4.35 ERA, 1.42 WHIP Balfour had a 1.24 WHIP at home and a 3.63 ERA on the road. He could possibly do very well this year. Take away the runs that he gave up in Comiskey and Arlington, and his road ERA is unbelievable. He pitched in 13 different parks on the road, and he didn't give up an earned run or an unearned run in 8 of them. You have to do all of your own research if you really expect to learn anything, because them Espn shows...wow. They'll make you dumber. :headshake ^yeah pretty much this^ When your second worst reliever could quite possibly be JC Romero, you are in pretty solid shape I would say. What we have in overall depth the Twins have in overall quality. Personally, I prefer quality to quantity most of the time, but maybe that is just me. If the Sox win the division, it will have to be because they have the best all around team, because they probably won't outhit Cleveland, and they won't outpitch Minnesota.
  20. Winfield had 10 tackles his last 4 games, suggesting he was used very conservatively. He was banged up a little this year. However, he seems to be an every other year injury type player...he has never missed a game in odd number years, and has played 14 at the most in even numbered years. Regardless, the Vikings will not even think about a CB at 7...probably not at 18 either unless there is some sick value at that spot(like Pac Man or Rolle, and there is virtually no shot of that happening). They will undoubtedly pick a CB in the later rounds for depth, but not much more then that. I also don't see them even thinking about trading up with their 2 first rounders for a receiver...what is the point when you could get a Mark Clayton at 18 anyways(because Williamson is a top 15 pick...I don't see him making it past 12, whether San Diego or Chicago has that pick). And they are very much infatuated with MWill...he isn't a top 5 pick(especially with a 40 time of 4.58)but he is a top 10 pick...meaning I don't see him making it past 7(unless Minnesota does choose to go defense with the pick, taking Derrick Johnson...but quite frankly, I don't think they'll do that anymore either).
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) WR in round 4? How exactly will that improve our WR core? A WR must be taken in the 1st or 2nd and alternately, a CB/LB must be taken in the 1st or 2nd. These are our 2 biggest needs IMO. Joe Horn, who had 1400 receiving yards and 90+ catches last year was a 5th round pick. Donald Driver, who had 84 catches, 1200 yards, and 9 TD's, was a 7th round pick. Drew Bennett, who had 80 catches and 1247 yards last year, was undrafted. Not that these guys are everywhere and are just plain as day, because if they were, they'd be first or second round picks. Larry Brackins, Matt Jones, Vincent Jackson, Tab Perry, Roydell Williams, Dante Ridgeway, Steve Savoy, Craphonso Thorpe, Brandon Jones....all could be solid receivers in the NFL someday if they pan out. Some are projects that will likely be boom or bust, and some are guys that will catch a few balls and will give you a few yards every year, but never anything spectacular. It's a matter of good scouting and good draft management.
  22. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) i dont care how much exp. bmac has, i would prefer him over contreras, he actually has confidence in his stuff. he didnt have his best stuff against texz, yet he gave up one hit. Contreras has too much confidence in his stuff, hence his tendency to fall in love with his splitter and constantly throw that. They think they can fix him...we'll see if they can.
  23. QUOTE(backman @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) good! (bout time the twins struggle) It is still Spring Training. A lot of people will struggle in Spring Training. We're not doing so hot ourselves...and does anyone really, honestly care?
  24. I think SS2k has the technicality of it down pretty much...that sounds about right. Of course, I'm not sure what is stopping the Sox from finding a loophole in that...drop someone off the 40 that won't get claimed, sign House, put him on the 60-Day DL, and call that someone back up. Not sure if that would work or not though.
  25. Just so everyone knows, I will be out of town for today, Saturday, and probably part of Sunday too...so if you want in, either just wait until Sunday/Monday, or post that you want to be in it in here, and someone in the league can give you the info.
