  1. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) One time, my sister was volunteering on an Alzheimer's ward. It was music/quiet time, so there was this lady playing the harp and the lady that my sister was keeping company (a patient) out of no where, leans over to my sister and, without a word, licks her face. I like that story. OH MAN. MY SIDES HURT
  2. Come on slackers. Change the title of the thread to 'Congrats El Piervizdyeiniguchansodnik"
  3. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Bonderman is their ace (look at his stats) Looking at his stats...in the second half of last year, Bonderman was 5-7 3.70 ERA 1.10 WHIP K/9 of about 9, K/BB of about 3, and a .211 BAA...that is not good? He still cost very little for them. Low-risk, high-reward. As proven by his 2.90 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, K/9 of 6, K/BB of 2, and his 33 saves last year. They are apparently a lot better then you give them credit for. They will probably finish around 75 wins, if not more...they do have a legit shot at contending. It's not likely, but it's possible. Slowly and quietly, the AL Central is improving. I'd probably rank it as the second best division in the AL, just behind the AL West(where all 4 teams could be quite solid)...I view the AL East as very top heavy...there is not much after New York and Boston.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) I don't think you'll be making that mistake again, even if it was for the ALMIGHTY Jamie Moyer. Hey DBAH0...I wanna say something really mean right now...but I can't think of anything
  5. I got a crazy feeling that they will do what the Astros did this year for Carlos Beltran...that is, free up money everywhere and anywhere to get him locked up long term. Unfortunately, Houston came up about just short, and Boras went to the money again(SHOCKER). I think they will do whatever it takes to get him locked up. He is the type of guy you can build a franchise around. You trade Hunter, Jones, Radke, Nathan, Romero...anyone making any type of money...and get him locked up. That said...I hope they lose him...and at the same time, crazy as it sounds, I don't. I hate the way baseball works. The Twins come up with Johan, this absolute stud of a pitcher, and because they can't afford him, he goes elsewhere. Makes me sick.
  6. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) I also disagree that it's time to move to the next level always. You don't see carroll going anywhere do you? College and NFL are both highly respected leagues. Hell, i put them on the same prestige level. I don't like when everyone jumps ship to the NFL. Saban leaving, Chow leaving, etc, that's bad for the game. Hmm, why is Spurrier coming back? Overall this is a money move IMO, i think it's disappointing. You don't see Carroll going anywhere because he failed as a head coach in the NFL. He is staying in college football because he is succeeding at his job. I would not be surprised if, at times, egos get in the way. If a coach has failed in the NFL, but is succeeding like crazy in the NCAA, why would he get away from the NCAA at that current time, knowing there is a good chance he will fail once again in the NFL? I don't view Carroll staying at USC because it is good for college football...I view it as Carroll loving football and wanting to stay in the NCAA because he wants to win, and that is something he is almost guaranteed to do at the college level. Spurrier wanted to see if he could hang with the big boys when he went up, found out his system doesn't work, and he came back. Again, I don't view it as something that he is doing because it is good for the NCAA, I view it as an egotistical thing. He wants to succeed, he wants to win, and he can't do that in the NFL, but he can do it in the NCAA. Saban is going up to the NFL for the same reason Spurrier did. If he can succeed, I think it is more fulfilling to him. Again, the ego comes into play here. I don't view Chow as any of the above. I view it as him being the mind behind one of the best offenses in the NCAA the past 2 years, and him still not getting the recognition he deserves, so he is going to the NFL to try and get his name out there more and prove that he is worthy of a head coaching position at either the NFL or the NCAA level.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Felton is actually one of the best PGs in America. Just happened to piss down his leg tonight. I'm sure UNC fans would feel very comfortable with the ball in his hands in almost all circumstances. I don't doubt how good he is. But he choked tonight. I'd have to see him play more, but he did not make a good impression on me tonight.
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) The Roberto trade was performance based. -- PTBNL or Cash -- The .180/.203/.246 he put up in 60 Ab's shouldn't cost us a player. I wanna make a Timo Perez comment here...but he already played with the Mets in the NL
  9. I don't follow much college basketball(as you may be able to tell by the next sentence), but Felton, or whoever it was, that took the ball up the court for that last UNC possession should never take it up the court in a close game like that again when the stakes are that high. Not only had UNC clawed back into it and cut it to a 1 point game, but I also noticed that with about 8 seconds left, there was some room to drive after he got Ewing to bite, and it looked like he went right back to Ewing. Poor last play of the game, whoever it was on, for UNC. You have to have more outs then that. It was spectacular defense by Duke, but to not even be able to get a shot up is horrible...simply horrible.
  10. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 07:45 PM)
  11. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) Thank you for the suggestion, I will probably use some of it (either the "jack" or the "ass") towards a new screen name. You should have it be assjack, and then as your sig or avatar, have a car jack lifting up a huge ass
  12. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) The spork is second only to that 7-Eleven Slurpee Straw/Spoon! ....stroon?..... They apparently just call them spoon straws I think I...err, we need to get that spoon straw named a stroon
  13. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) I cut it with a spork???
  14. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) even one of those crappy plastic ones?
  15. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Good question. I thought it was funny. Looked like Zero got busy. agreed very busy
  16. We should try and get the leagues registered early and make them all live drafts
  17. Yeah, I kinda stopped checkin up on that...my bad I'll be in it again this year, and will be more active this time. I believe I was in league #1(when DBAH0 just raped me in a deal, and it killed me...no more details on that please ) Yeah, anyways, #1 works
  18. I take talent over heart. New England hasn't won 3 of 4 Super Bowls specifically because of heart; the main reason they have won is because they have incredibly good offensive and defensive schemes that they have used...the fact that they won the Super Bowl with a rookie in Randall Gay and second year player in Asante Samuel, who had never started prior to this year, basically tells me all I need to know. That coaching staff is the best in the NFL, hands down, and you see it. Tom Brady is one of the better QB's in the game too, so that helps. Almost always, talent prevails over heart. 2003, the Twins and White Sox both finished above the Royals, 2004, the Cards beat the Astros, the Red Sox beat the Yankees...not saying that those did not take heart to accomplish, just saying that in all 3 instances, talent prevailed over heart. Regardless, I don't like how Duke matches up with UNC, and therefore, I think UNC will win.
  19. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) yes, but it was only in 15 AB's It would have to be atleast 50 AB's. The absolute minimum amount of AB's required is 50, with 14 hits. 14/50 = .28 Sorry, I was bored EDIT: all that work, and I lied The fewest is 25 AB's. 7 for 25 = .280
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Sarcasm i believe. ^^^^^
  21. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) exactly... the point is what team is gonna say "Here, have our top 10 1st round pick this year and well take yours next year not gonna happen... a 2nd this year is worth a 1st next year... so it would be have to be a 1st PLUS and I doubt they would do that A 1st and a 2nd for say Tennessee's pick would get the job done. No team is stupid enough to do that, unless they really think that that particular player puts them over the top...that never happens in the draft. EDIT: I forgot about New Orleans and Ricky. That move hurt them for a while too anyways.
  22. If history tells us anything, this move scares the hell out of me for a Sox fan. This guy has been awesome the past two years that have ended in an odd number(2001 - 4-6 2.74 ERA 1.15 WHIP K/9 of about 11.75, K/BB of about 3.7; 2003 - 3-2 3.30 ERA 1.17 WHIP K/9 of 10.85, K/BB of 2.5). The fact that they apparently got him for nothings is better for them. And if it allows the Cubs to get Dotel, that is an even better move for the Cubs. No matter what Dotel does as a closer, they will have both LaTroy and Dotel, and both are great setup men, bad closers, meaning one will set up, one will close...maybe they'll get lucky and the one that closes will be good. And again, that would be another good move by Beane. Their pen is pretty damn deep with the recent moves they have made, so he is dealing from a position of strength. If he can get a good package of players for Dotel, that is great for them. I do think the team that comes out the worst in this is the Cubs. They are actually going to have to give up good players, are taking on money, and are only 'guaranteed'(I quote that because nothing is a guarantee, but this is as close to one as you can get in baseball) a good setup man. This move fits exactly what Detroit is doing, because they will either be a team that clicks for like 2 months and just gets on fire and plays .700 ball and starts to run away with the division, or they will be trading at the deadline. And I've basically explained my reasoning for the A's...dealing from strength.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) I know you said you're done but I want to ask you a question.. don't you think the Sox had the right to know BEFORE they offer arbitration the results of Maggs surgery..? Don't you think they should have gotten that info first...? Also.. it was 4/60 by the way. Steff...do you know if any of that 60 was deferred?
  24. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) I do understand that.... But a little different opinion is nice once and a while. And re: Why I'm here. I ain't here cuz I hate the site, I like it. You coming on here and asking for respect and wondering why we have bias, well, I wonder. Respect is a two way street. You do not come on here trash talking(which you basically did), and we will talk. It is that simple
  25. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) Okay A troll would be Just doing this in every post. SOX SUCK! INDIANS WILL WHIP YOUR ASS THIS YEAR. I can't help it you are so one sided and bias you won't listen to what I have to say.. RE: The Game Lawton won for the Indians. I was in my car going home like 95% sure we lost and then BA BAM... Nothing like a TOM HAMILTOM MOMENT! If you have no idea of tom hamilton, who is one of the best in baseball, listen hear, and check this out! http://www.zenhex.com/imp-ret.html It's a White Sox site, we're going to be biased for the White Sox. Can you not understand that?
