QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) wrong drew... Haha

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) Yeah whoever mentioned the cards hit it on the head, unless the tigers try and grab him Dumb phillies The Tigers will likely go with Infante at 2B and Inge at 3B. A team to look out for in this is Houston. They still have a little money to spend, and they need to try and upgrade as much as possible...Beltran really screwed them big time. If I had to put money on a team, I would guess that that is where he ends up.

I don't care how Willie looks in this pictures. The writing has been on the wall for some time now. As has been said multiple times on here before...why would KW sign a player he has likely never seen play...or, at the very least, has never played in the majors...for $2.3 million? As a safety net in case Willie can't cut it? Willie is also a poor bench guy...he absolutely needs consistent playing time to be productive. And he cannot backup SS or 3B at all...and we have no one on the MLB roster(unless you count like Ozuna or Valdez, and I'm not sure I do) who can. Methinks something is in the works upstairs, and it will happen eventually. BTW, if we want to continue this, we should probably make a separate thread. Let's just leave this one for the ST photos and other miscellaneous items, for organization purposes.

ESPN's Rob Neyer's Top Ten LEAST improved teams
witesoxfan replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) and you guys think ESPN doesn't like us.... Check out these headlines... Crasnick: Big Unknown for A's Neyers: A's won't make the grade Karabel: A's Overrated All running on the same day... And I think all 3 are wrong. They have a lot of question marks, but for the most part, and actually pretty solid all around. Their pen is deep, and their lineup has some pretty solid hitters all around(Kotsay, Kendall, Durazo, Hatteberg, Chavez, Byrnes, Thomas, Crosby...you look, and they are quite solid offensively)...if Haren, Myers, and Blanton can all put up 4.50 ERA's or in the whereabouts, they have as good a shot at that division as any team. Hell, I can't even think of the favorite to win that division right now. That division has gone from being top dog to being about as good as the AL Central(if not worse) very fast. -
Wow. That was fast Cowboys, Bledsoe, agree in principle on deal

It's pop. And I don't care. Just give me a Dr. P and I'll be set. Well, Dr. P or Cherry Coke. Those two pwn all.

Can you feel the love? -
QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) He's such a good hitter that he doesn't even have to watch the ball to the bat. I mean, what's he lookin' at? He's probably looking at Lisa Dergan. Goddamn Podsednik.

If we were to trade for Polanco, he would be making about the same amount as Iguchi, Uribe, and Crede combined...that's 3 of our starting infielders. I like Polanco a lot...but I don't like him at that price as a backup. If we didn't have Iguchi, I would love him. Not sure where I see him ending up though. Can Minnesota work out a trade where they don't have to take on all of that money? Because they cannot be comfortable with Rivas as the everyday 2B, Cuddyer the everyday 3B, and Bartlett the everyday SS. That is 2 first year starters and a mediocre player in the 3 spots Polanco plays. Anyways, I'm sure some team will want Polanco...not sure who exactly, but someone should step up.

QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Fact or Fiction: A White Sox starting pitcher will win 20 games this season. Fiction....Buehrle will be lucky to get to 17. Garcia will flop. Fact or Fiction: Willie Harris will be on the White Sox opening day roster. Fact....Why not? It's not like they can trade him anywhere. Who would want the bum? Fact or Fiction: Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez will toss more than 140 innings this season. Fiction......Not going to happen. Fact or Fiction: Shingo Takatsu will record more than 30 saves this season. Fiction......I think the league got a good look at him last year. Expect him to give up alot of long balls this year. GONG! Fact or Fiction: Scott Podsednik will set a career high in both batting average and OBP this season. Fiction...It shouldn't be that hard for him to do either, but this career minor leaguer will make Williams look like a moron. Fact or Fiction: Frank Thomas will play in more than 120 games this season. Fiction...Franks days are numbered. Fact or Fiction: Carl Everett will get more than 350 at-bats this season. Fiction.......Look for some sort of season ending injury before the All-Star break. Fact or Fiction: A White Sox starter other than Mark Buehrle or Freddy Garcia will throw a complete game shutout this season. Fiction......It seems simple enough. But, it ain't gonna happen. Fact or Fiction: The White Sox will win the American League Central in 2005. Fiction.....YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOARD!!!!!!!!!! lolz

Justin Morneau's Offseason Problems

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) I take no pleasure in this. If we are going to beat them, we are going to have beat them even up I know that's how a lot of people feel, but quite honestly, WHY do people feel that way? If they lost Santana for the season tomorrow, I wouldn't shed a tear, hell, I may rejoice. Not that Santana is injured, but that it increases the chance of my team winning. I mean, quite honestly, does anyone think that Twins fans feel that they won the division unrightly last year, and that they feel bad for doing it, because we lost Maggs and Frank for the year in late June/early July? Of course not. They took advantage of it, and ran away with the division. -
I think the Bills are a playoff team next year...but I don't view them anywhere close to a Superbowl team. If they make the superbowl, I will eat something pretty crazy.

KW: GIVE ME SOME SKIN, n****! OG: no

Let me just say seriously now, that as much as I don't like the guy anymore, it is hard to see him in a different uniform. Just seems to weird.

That guy is an asshole Just thought I'd throw it out there

QUOTE(CubKilla @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) Not at all. BUT THAT'S MY POINT WSF. THe "kids" on this Board expect too much out of our White Sox. If people expect 35 homers out of Aaron, they are being dumb. That is completely assinine. The guy has never hit 25(though 24 is close enough for me), so to expect 35 is pretty crazy. But if he can put up another .540 SLG season, I won't complain.

Um...? 2004 stats... Podsednik - .244 .313 .677 Harris - .262 .343 .665 I know Podsednik had 51 more SB's then Willie...but without using SB's(because some do question their actual value), Willie's 2004 was better then Podsednik's. I like Podsednik more...just throwing some stats out there.

Yet another example of Cub Brilliance
witesoxfan replied to AddisonStSox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
$1.2 mill this year, $1.5 next year, for a guy that will hardly play. And we thought Timo for $1 mill was dumb. Compared to that, it atleast seems logical. -
The main reason I bring up arm injuries and surgeries over others is simply due to the fact that arm injuries almost always lead to a pitcher's pure stuff becoming worse. Knee and leg injuries may reduce velocity to some degree because the pitcher is not able to push off the mound with as much power and force as usual, but that will not effect velocity on pitches nearly as much as an arm injury will. Case in point, when El Duque came into the league, he was around the 89-92 MPH range, or maybe more...I can't recall exactly. Now he is around the 85-88 range...some of it is due to his age(48 year olds tend to throw it a little softer then 32 year olds), and some is due to some surgery he has had. When RJ and Clemens and Schilling came into the league, they were around the 97-100 range, and still are...a lot of that is due to their great physical condition, a lot is due to advanced medical science, a lot is due to good pitching motions, and a lot is due to flat out luck. However, to compare any of our pitchers to any of the top 10 in the majors is silly. The only two with the stuff to do so are Freddy and Contreras, and I don't invision that happening any time soon.
-
Although he is not coming out of the college game, my eyes will be on Adrian McPherson. Whoever gets him could have a hell of a project on their hands. You don't see many talents like him ever. One can just hope he truly has cleaned up his act a little bit. Also, I too am on the Frank Gore bandwagon. He could be a steal, wherever he is taken.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Randy had knee surgery a year or 2 back. Schilling hurt his arm. Those guys are still pitching. I don't know why some people act as if you're past 32, you're done with. That's not true at all. I didn't ask how many surgeries they had. I asked how many arm surgeries they had. And I was also talking about RJ and Clemens. Fact be told, they also have more god given talent. Not everyone can throw it in the 95-98 MPH, touching 100 range either...they still can.

QUOTE(SEALgep @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) It can matter as far as match ups are concerned. You certainly would rather avoid you're #5 going up against their #1 or #2. However, with Jose, he should be fine in the #3 spot, especially with the reasoning behind it. Come the middle of the year with offdays figured in there, those matchups will come, and there is nothing you will be able to do about it. Really, the only time where you are in the rotation affects you, is in the playoffs.
