  1. Please tell me you didn't just call Royce's defense terrific. That s***-for-range assclown is making very little money for a reason.
  2. Lowe's ERA this year is 5.56, his BAA against is over .300, his WHIP is 1.70+, he has nearly as many walks as K's, and even after all that, he's 9-9, thanks to having one of the best offenses in baseball behind him. He was once an All-Star...but so was Royce Clayton.
  3. I'm thinking along the lines right now that we really have no other option, other then Felix Diaz, to put into the rotation to replace Garland. What I mentioned will not happen because Boston will not give up 2 players for 1 like that...however, I would imagine that Garland + Valentin could net us Garciaparra, Lowe, and then some. I just don't like losing Jose's lefty power.
  4. Maybe. Have them throw in Lowe, and I do it in a f***ing second.
  5. His ERA is mediocre, FWIW. A career ERA of 4-4.50(do not have the stats off hand right now) is nothing to write home about.
  6. I noticed that too. Thought it was kind of weird myself as well.
  7. I think we see Jose resigned, whether you guys want to or not...he'd probably come relatively cheap, and as of right now, we do not really have an option of someone we can put out there and have him produce on a consistent basis. Also, if Politte is not resigned, I see us bringing in another cheap reliever or two like that. I see Jackson gone, Scho gone, and potentially ELo gone. I think Elo is gone if he asks for more then $5 mill a year, and one starter is brought in via trade or FA...with several starters(off the top of my head, I can come up with Lowe, Pedro, Lieber, Radke, Pavano, Russ Ortiz, Millwood, Morris, Clement, Benson, Wilson, Lidle, and there are probably others I'm missing as well) becoming available in FA, I do see us picking up atleast one of them. I foresee Garcia, Buehrle, Garland, and Diaz for sure being in the rotation next year, and perhaps Elo, perhaps someone brought in via trade, or someone that was mentioned above(or maybe even Cotts). Marte and Shingo will be in the pen for sure, and I think Adkins is in there as well...other then that, I'm not sure. Personally, I do not like people saying Maggs is gone for sure...there is a good chance he is gone, but, with his injury, he will not get $14 mill a year. $10 mill a year is likely, but I'm not sure he accepts that. I think the Sox come in with a very incentive-laden contract, that guarantees about $50 mill over 5 years, and has the possibility to balloon to $70-75 mill if he reaches most incentives. I also think there is a major trade too...I think one of Konerko and Lee is dealt...which one, I'm not sure of, but I do think one is gone. As of right now, it's kind of hard to say what happens...we're not even past the trading deadline. But I think I may some reasonable guesses...or atleast I hope I did.
  8. I think that is him. They did a segment earlier on SC, not sure which one, about musicians wanting to be athletes and athletes wanting to be musicians. And they should Millar doing some karaoke...I didn't hear the song, but I'm sure you're right and it was probably Springsteen.
  9. Possibly being the key word. As of right now, the Yankees rotation is bush league...Mussina and Brown are hurt/injury prone, so they're going with Contreras-Vazquez-El Duque-Sturtze-who gives a s***. The Twins rotation has Radke-Santana-Silva/Benson/Lohse, which is very beatable. Red sox has Schilling-Pedro-Wakefield/Lowe/Arroyo...a little better then most, but it too lacks a great 1-2-3. Only the A's have a real solid 1-2-3 of Mulder, Hudson, and Zito, and Zito is a very hittable pitcher nowadays too, and Mulder and Hudson are far from unbeatable. Garcia-Buehrle-Loaiza may(or may not) be solid in the playoffs. Which costs us maybe a bag of balls. Not another bag of balls! You can't tell me that you think Oakland's catching crew is solid...or, as of right now, Minnesota's. Both are s***. You do not need a stud catcher to win ballgames...just one that hits decently, calls a good game, and has a strong arm. Getting Bautista from Arizona would not cost us a whole hell of a lot...why not grab him? Really it doesn't, considering there is essentially another entire month to make deals yet. The other players just have to pass through waivers. It's called taking risks, and not just sitting on your ass twiddling your thumbs. Many in baseball thought we had the best team in the league last year, and we could have won it all. We were just unfortunate enough to have been outplayed by Minnesota in the last 2 series of the year, and that essentially ended our season. He may. Doesn't matter...he wouldn't be in the majors with us yet. He's already given up an arm and a leg for Freddy and Carl, why not go for it all? You can't just sit on your ass and say "Oh, what could have been"...you f***ing go out and do something to help your cause. If this were a game of poker, we are committed to the pot with a pair of Kings with an ace on the board...you have to f***ing call, just to see what happens. We may win, but we may not.
  10. We know where we are going regardless of whether or not we make a move. We gave up our #1 prospect, a stud catcher, a couple of cheap, young arms, and a potentially good hitting SS for Garcia and Everett. We are in it till the end.
  11. We need a f***ing bat. Fast. Get Delgado if we need to, get Kendall, get someone who plays with some heart and gives a s***. Losing to the Tigers 3-2 is bulls***.
  12. Read everything. Crede and Cotts would be the START of the package. Crede and Cotts would NOT get him.
  13. Hit a homer in his first at bat back
  14. If we were the Yankees, and Loaiza sucked, he'd go to the bullpen and we'd bring in someone else. Guess what, we're not the f***ing Yankees. Loaiza will not be dropped out of the rotation, unless he gives up 5 or more runs in 5-10 straight starts, let alone giving up 4 runs, 3 of which were earned, in 7 innings against a hot Minnesota team. Idiot.
  15. I like Rowand higher in the order...but that lineup is too good to turn down. I'll take it...where do I sign?
  16. Sean Burroghs is 23, talented, and cheap. Unless we gave up Crede and Cotts(which would just be the START of the package), we're not going to get him.
  17. I believe you are correct. However, according to baseballreference, San Diego did give Toronto Brian Loyd. He was so good that he was never called up to the majors. Last one listed
  18. Rj-Garcia-Buehrle would make the other playoff teams go before we played them the next day
  19. I think he's referring to making a deadline deal...with Benson, Kendall, Catalanotto, Hairston, possibly RJ, among others, available, and all we got was Simon...that's the wool socks. Getting Garcia was like getting your first car and having it be a 68 Camaro in nice shape, and getting Everett is like getting something else you really wanted.
  20. Agree 100%. This team has a shot to win, because of the team itself...the schedule should be a non-factor. We're out 3.5 with 2 months left...we are SO done. rolleyeyes.gif :headshake
  21. Because of what he did with the Cubs down the stretch last year....282 6 21 and only 7 K's in 103 ABs...another thing to note is that he almost had twice as many K's(7) as BB's(4)...yeah, that's ugly. The fact that he hit .333 in the playoffs helps too.
