  1. I'm wondering when the hell he became an RBI man again. When did he anyways? 5 RBI tonight? I'm not sure he ever had a 5 RBI game last year
  2. cwsox says something about the Beatles. People chime in after that(several people) cwsox also says something about the Dolphins I chime in with "Dolphins suck." Someone then updates us on the Sox game...apparently, Jose just made his 63rd error of the season, and it's only June 3rd. I then talk about how errors are overrated(which they are BTW )
  3. Which is exactly why the deal isn't made.
  4. I'm gonna be there for Saturday and Sunday though. They better atleast do something decent. I believe that means I get to see Cotts and Garland. Sounds good to me.
  5. Blame Marte's struggles on the umps. Brilliant. He'll be fine. The biggest worry I have is still Koch, and if he can make me not worry, I will be relieved.
  6. I say don't worry about the standings yet. I just hope we take 3 of 4. Kick their ass in their house(like they did to us in our house). Pay back motherf***ers.
  7. I'm afraid they did not. They came off sounding very good though. The place was rocking, and the sound was very good. I figured as they got older, their voices would get slightly worse. That's the last time I ever figure anything. Glenn Frey seemed to be very energetic and still young at heart. You can tell he still enjoys doing it. I'm not a big Timothy Schmit fan, but he sounded OK as well. Henley sounded pretty good, but he just looks a lot older, and obviously he is, but he looked like he was almost hunched over at times. And I think Joe Walsh bought some good stuff and lit it up before the concert , but he was pretty damn good too. I thought they were going to end with Hotel California. Well, they did it, then left the stage. About 2 minutes later, they came back on of course and did some more songs(they did Rocky Mountain Way(or is it Road? I can never remember) and Life in the Fastlane). They left again, and came back on, and did a couple more songs. Of course, they left again, and of course, came back on. Frey did another song after that and then Henley finished up with Desperado. The going off and coming back on got a little annoying after a while, but it was well worth it in the end. And I think the person that runs the civic center up here forgot where the AC switches are. My God was it hot as hell in there. I think it had to of been about 85º in there.
  8. I assume Ozzie is trying to find an offense that clicks. My question to Oz...how many times have we used the lineup that put up 11 runs against the Twins since that time?
  9. If we were to do this trade, we would need to get a hell of a lot more then Aaron Sele. They are the ones who need Jose Valentin...we do not need Aaron Sele. If they want Valentin so much, push and make them give more then they should. We have the leverage in this deal. Ask for K-Rod. They'll obviously say no, but you get the picture. I would rather see Valentin in the silver and black, but if we can get some damn good players in return, by all means, do it.
  10. Man that was cool as hell. And Joe Walsh is funny as hell. He said the country is in shambles, so he is going to run for president again. JOE WALSH IN 2004! And it was worth missing the Sox for. Hate to admit it, but I'll take missing a Soxtalk game thread to see the Eagles. That was b****in. This day could not have been much better. Saw the Eagles, Sox win, Twinks lose, Cubs get 1-hit, Braves get no-hit(and the Unit throws a perfect game at that)...how much better could it get?
  11. Yay, midwest wins. Go pop
  12. Go Fort Wayne! Kick the s*** out of Lansing!
  13. I did see that. Did you see Youkilis giving the air some high fives as well? LMAO
  14. You're right. We have the Chicago media. According to this media, the Cubs can do no wrong, and the Sox can do no right. I bet, according to them, the White Sox did poorly tonight because they didn't score more then 4 runs off of a pitcher who had an 11.00 ERA this year and a 9.50 ERA against the Sox all time, yet the Cubs did well to get 2 baserunners on a tough pitcher like Schmidt. Somehow, the Chicago media could very well turn this s*** around and use it to hit Koch in the face. He had a 3-ball count. That's a start. The media sickens me. Somehow, I see Sammy landing on the DL due to a sneeze as being a non-issue...I mean, just because he's a pussy doesn't mean we should make fun of him
  15. I think we already know the answer to this one.
  16. That's the thing, you can't take that game out. It's one of those things that you look at realize that Koch can implode now and then and get absolutely bombed. Just like how Thomas can now and then just get into a funk and strike out 10 times in 4 games, or how Konerko can go 2-for-27, etc. You take those out and his stats are significantly different. Koch has been solid. He's still making $6+ mill though. If I pay my closer $6 mill, I want 95% of all save opportunities converted, an ERA under 2.50, a WHIP of right around 1.00, an OBPA of less then .300, around double digit K/9, and a K/BB of around 4 or 5. Given, most closers cannot reach those. Then again, most closers aren't making $6 mill.
  17. BTW, qwerty...a 5.00 ERA is not good for any pitcher in any situation. What I was implying by saying that is that it would be good for what we've seen out of the #5 spot in the rotation this year.
  18. He signed with Cleveland. SS2k...that was one of the reasons we got 2nd last year. Another was the fact that we lost 8 friggin times to the Tigers as well, and that we lost 3 1-0 games, as well as a 2-1 or 3-2 game here and there as well.
  19. He won once, so he has obviously pitched well enough to win against us before. The only way I would feel a little safer is if he was 0-8 10.00 against us or so. Mike Mussina was something like 18-2 in his career going into the ALDS last year against the Twins. All they did was beat him. You can NEVER be sure, ESPECIALLY with this group. They get too agressive, and they are f***ed.
  20. We did? But I read in Moneyball... That's just another example of KW doing a good job. A couple others I just thought of a few minutes ago...Lofton for Diaz and Meaux? Bobby Howry(now with Cleveland) for Byeong Hak-An and Francisco Franklin(who was part of the trade for Everett)? Sandy for Enemencio Pacheco(the funniest thing about that deal is that Sandy played for Colorado for half a year and then resigned with us, and Pacheco has become a damn good pitcher for us). There are probably others that he has made too, and there are probably some he has not made. Obviously, we all make a Royce Clayton-like blunder now and then, but we get over it.
  21. Blake from Bismarck Neal, what was the first thought that came to your mind when you found out that you got the call to the big league club? What were your emotions? And what was it like starting in Yankee Stadium(though we'll pretend you threw 7 1/3 shutout innings and held the Yanks in check )? And have you told any other players on the White Sox about Soxtalk?
  22. I was too. I just remember him hitting .375 for a good stretch of time before we got Everett. Had he been able to repeat that, I have no problem with him playing. However, there is a big difference between .375 and .215. In fact, there is a big difference between .300 and .215. I don't want to see the Sox trade Rowand just because he's struggling. He has heated up very quickly in the summer the past couple years he's been here. He did so after we traded Lofton in 2002, and he was on a tear before we traded for Everett. I just think it would be unwise to make a move like that, because one of Willie and Juan will cool down, and they will probably cool down quite quickly and go into a cold stretch. If Rowand can hit .270 during that time, then we are set.
  23. He also traded Billy Koch(5-5 5.77 1.50 WHIP 11 saves) for Keith Foulke(9-1 2.08 WHIP 0.89 with 43 saves). The only saving grace from that trade is Neal Cotts. However, he traded Matt Guerrier for Damaso Marte and Edwin(now Ruddy) Yan. Guerrier is now with the Twins, Marte has been one of the better LH relievers in the AL the past couple years, and Yan is fast as hell(though I haven't seen what he's been doing). He also traded Aaron Miles for Juan Uribe. Miles is currently on the Rockies AAA team, while Uribe is hitting .340. He traded 3 A-ball players for Carl Everett, and all Everett did was help us damn near win a division crown. He traded essentially traded Gary Glover for Scott Schoenweis. Glover is now with the Iowa Cubs(I believe) and Schoenweis leads the AL in quality starts. Need I go on? BTW, we actually "won" the David Wells trade. Mike Sirotka never threw a pitch for the Jays, while Wells won 5 games for us and he helped Buehrle become the pitcher he is today. And Ring has been mediocre for the Mets AAA team. As someone pointed out, he has reportedly been throwing in the 85-88 range, after being touted with having a 92-95 MPH fastball.
  24. Precisely why a move like that will not happen. Why on earth would you bench a .270 hitter while allowing a .215 hitter to remain in the lineup when it is a move you can avoid while keeping a .304 and .339 hitter in the lineup? If that lineup was Ozzie's new (f***ing) all-time lineup (that he makes), then Ozzie should be fired. The ONLY time you keep a .215 hitter in over a .270 hitter is if the .215 hitter is either making way more money then the .270 hitter(Rowand's $300,000 to Jose's $5 mill...uh, no), if the .215 hitter has an OBP way, way, way higher then the .270 hitter's OBP(Rowand's .271 to Jose's .326...uh, no), or if the .215 hitter has way, way more homers/RBI then the .270 hitter(3 homers, 7 RBI for Rowand, 5 homers, 15 RBI for Valentin). If anyone sits, it should be Rowand.
