  1. I had a strong hunch that those two were one and the same a while back ago. Just seemed odd that wsc went away and that beastly appeared right at about the same time, and the fact that they both posted so eerily similar too. Not that big a deal though. Atleast he didn't point out his name like roman did.
  2. Of course I do....lol "I swear, this is not an April Fool's joke!" You ass :finger
  3. Just curious here....does anybody think that Notre Dame could possibly join the Big East now? I mean, they keep themselves in the Big East in basketball then, and they actually finally join a conference. Or do they keep their Independant status? Also....how many MAC and C-USA teams will join the Big East now? I mean, the Big East will only have like 5 teams next year(assuming BC leaves after this year), that's not a big number of teams....they have to add some teams. Just me thinking out loud I guess.
  4. I'm wondering how many OFers leave, and then which OFers. I mean, they have Jones, Stewart, Hunter, and Mohr who could all start, and then they have Restovich, Cuddyer(though he can play quite a few positions), and Ryan waiting in the wings. That is 6 or 7 OFers that are very close to being MLB ready(however you happen to look at it). They have to get rid of atleast 1 of them, and they could very easily get rid of 2 of them. I gotta think that atleast one of Stewart, Jones, and Mohr is gone. The Sox should sign any of them that they let go immediately, especially if it is Jones or Mohr(because they can both play CF and play it fairly well). The only thing that would be bad about bringing in Mohr is the fact that he and Rowand seem to me to play similar styles of baseball. Nothing wrong with that though....get rid of one of Maggs and Lee by trade, and you can play Mohr or Rowand in CF and the other in the vacated position. I'm also curious to see how their bullpen are going to shape up next year. They almost undoubtedly will lose one of Hawkins and Guardado, and if they lose both, their bullpen could be very interesting next year. Possibly have Rincon closing, Romero and Balfour setting up, and from there on out, I am clueless. It will be fun to see not only what the White Sox do but also what the Royals and Twins do too. Also....do not forget about the Indians. They could easily add 2 or 3 key players and win 85-90 games next year. They seem to be very close to being a competitive team again.
  5. Marlins have life. Take it one game at a time from here on out. Get Prior for 3 runs and hope to hell that Penny/Pavano/Redman/whoever the hell else McKeon would throw out there only gives up 4 tops, and then you hope to get to the Cubs pen(which has been done over and over and over again). Then(assuming they do win), you go out and you make Wood throw and throw and throw in game 7.
  6. Just to let you know....you are not the only one who feels this EXACT same way. In fact, I'm sure that about 75% of the people on this board feel that way. A Yankees-Cubs World Series would be worse then a Packers-Jets Superbowl.
  7. If you want a diamond in the rough....try Ryan Dempster. He put up good numbers I think one year in his career, but has sucked for quite a while. However, he could probably be had cheaply, and it could turn into a positive move. Not sure who else I'd want though. There are quite a few good pitchers on the market....atleast a few should be signed.
  8. I think someone posted on here that there is a decent chance that Guillen will join the White Sox as a 3B coach next year....or atleast I thought I read that anyways. So take that for what it's worth. Also....IRod(because there is only 1 Pudge, and his last name starts with 'F' and ends with 'isk') switched agents this year. His new agent is Scott Boras. Or in other words, forget about Ivan for next year....or probably for every year after next year. We ain't getting him
  9. I beg to differ. Of all the Sox starters, Garland put together the longest streak of consecutive quality starts this season. While he may not be a great number 3 starter, he is adequate and I can think of a lot of guys who would be worse as a number 3. I beg to differ. I'd have to say Esteban Loaiza put up the biggest string of quality starts together. He was the definition of quality this year.
  10. Just to let you know, we wouldn't be getting rid of Maggs to make room for younger players. We'd be getting rid of him because he makes $14 mill next year.
  11. There are pros and cons to each. In the MLB, I would like the close matchups, except that I hate the Yankees and Cubs, and I can't stand watching them. However, it gets boring knowing that Pittsburgh, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Texas, Cincinatti, and Milwaukee, and that only one or two new teams will get into the race and stay in the race all year long. I mean, for the past like 8 or 9 years the Yankees have been in the playoffs, the past 4 the A's, the past 12 the Braves....it gets very old after a while. Hell, the Giants have only been in the playoffs 2 straight years and I'm already sick of them....same with the Twins. The NFL style sucks for the same reason it is good....you never, ever, ever know what is going to happen. It makes pick 'em that much harder too.
  12. I know what you are talking about. But when I think of slashing payroll, I think cut back, lower the overall payroll, and rebuild. I don't think about trading our big contracts and getting more decently sized contracts and good players. I just am not sure what I'd call that.
  13. I hear Dontrelle pulled a Kerry Wood today...if people understand where I'm coming from. If it is a Cubs-Yankees World Series, I don't think I will watch it. Can't stand the Cubs, can't stand the Yanks. I've been watching the playoffs in hope that I don't see a Cubs-Yanks World Series. If there is a God, the Cubs will not win the World Series(someone pinch me and tell me I did not just say that)
  14. Not now. I'm still cheering for Ivan Rodriguez and the Marlin clan. If they can't get it done....I'm gonna have to stoop down to a very low level and pull for Jason Giambi or David Ortiz....rooting for Giambi is going to kill me inside, because to me, what he did after 2001 when signing with the Yanks, represented everything that was wrong with baseball. But it's better then SamME hopping after every deep flyball he hits, whether it's gone or not.
  15. There was one subject last night....can't remember what exactly....but Lyons was (again) talking out of his ass, and Leiter just owned him up. Usually when Lyons starts talking out of his ass, Brennamen and Leiter just ignore him, but Leiter just kinda shoved whatever it was they were talking about right back up Lyons ass. I loved it. And then last night Lyons was talking about how you shouldn't go inside to Alou. And the next pitch, Redman threw a strike over the outside corner. Lyons just basically said "see I told you so" and just started trying to back his point more. Next pitch....strike over the inside corner. Next pitch....Alou pops a pitch that went over the inside part of the plate up to Gonzalez at SS. Lyons is a total assclown. It's too bad he played for the Sox.
  16. If you slash payroll, you can't get pitchers.....unless your pitchers include Jamie Navarro and Antonio Osuna. The White Sox will NOT slash payroll....because if they do, Reinsdorf will be alienating the fans once again, and as far as I'm concerned, until ownership is changed, I won't follow the White Sox(not that big of a deal though....I've never attended a game at the Cell before in my life. However, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only person with those feelings, and I'm sure that some of the people with those feelings do attend games at the Cell). Voting for the strike in 94 hurt him, the White Flag trade in 97 damn near killed him; if he goes out and slashes payroll after having one of the higher drawing years in quite a while(probably since 94 I suppose) along with higher ticket prices last year, then he can expect the attendance to be about an average of somewhere around 7,500-10,000 a game....or in other words, Expos-territory. On the Sexson subject....JMHO, but I say no. We struck out too much as a team this past year, and to bring on a guy that strikes out 150 times and is still just as slow would not be a good move. Trade Maggs, and try to get rid of Konerko while taking on as little money as possible, resign Colon, sign Castillo and Cabrera, and you have yourself a pretty good team. And with the remaining money, try to get a good LH bat for the middle of the order(I don't understand why we couldn't put Daubach there....if you get rid of Konerko, I think that he'd be an OK choice for 1B)
  17. No kidding. If you want to put the White Sox logo on there(which I'm sure you do), make sure it is allowed first. We do have connections though, so maybe we'll get lucky....eh?
  18. I've smoked cigars before. I actually like them quite a bit. I think those may be the only things I ever smoke in my life.
  19. IMO, the Cubs this year haven't had success. They've been in the right place at the right time for the last 5-30 years. If you want to look at the present time....they won their goddamn division with 86 wins. If we played in that goddamn division, we probably would have won it(though based on the W-L record, we would not have). In any other division, they are either killed, or are atleast beaten by a wide margin(I mean, even in the AL Central, had the Twins actually played the last 4 games against Detroit, the Twins would have probably won 92 games instead of the 90 that they did win, and those 90-92 wins, how ever you look at it, includes a streak where they lost like 22 of 28 games). If you look at it in the overall sense of it, they were lucky enough to not only have top 5 picks for about 7 out of the 10 years, but they also were fortunate enough that Minnesota was dumb enough to draft Mauer over Prior. If that happened to any team with the slightest clue, they would not have taken 10 years(let alone 20-30) to get s*** figured out. I guess if you consider barely winning the weakest division in the majors and then squeaking by the Braves success.....then sure, I've worn my Sox gear more often.
  20. For anyone who thinks I was serious....and you shouldn't have....of course I really didn't think that. It was more of a joke then anything else. Trying to lighten up the burden I am having right now(I hate the Cubs second to nothing in the sporting world). That pitch was right over the middle though. I think anyone could see that.

  22. Something tells me the Dodgers won't give up that much for Ordonez. I'd do 61328's proposal in a second. Get $14 mill off the payroll....if that helps resign Colon and get Cabrera and Castillo in here, by all means do it and do it quickly. That is one HELL of a deal if you can do it. I mean, it's exactly like he said....you get Mota, those 2 prospects, and Cabrera and Castillo(along with the possibility of retaining Colon for next year)....I would give up Maggs if I could get that deal done. And then if you can find a home for Konerko(I'm sure Baltimore would have a little interest in him....get whatever you can, and if you can get Jason Johnson, again, by all mean's do it....he'd be a hell of a 5th starter). If you can, that takes off another $8 mill, and with that $8 mill, you could possibly add Hawkins too. A bullpen of Hawkins, Marte, Wunsch, Mota, Wright, and Koch, if he can regain his s***....that is sick. Of course, Wright isn't necessarily a given, but is a possibility. If that bullpen acctually came true, that could seriously be the best bullpen in the league.....none of this s*** we had from last year either. Almost all successful teams build their teams around pitching, pitching, and even more pitching, and a little defense and offense mixed in there. No reason we shouldn't try it either.
  23. Can we delete this thread until the series is actually over? I don't want another thread like the one BEGOOD started(nothing personal man) where he suggested the White Sox would sweep the Twins in the 4 gamer after game 2, and only to have us lose our last 5 that we played against Minnesota. If the Marlins win, then I say we start this thread back up again.
  24. that Penny threw that pitch over the heart of the plate on purpose to see how far SamME could actually hit it? :finger Penny, you dumb piece of s***. Not many players will miss a 95 MPH fastball right over the heart of the plate. Just ask Billy Koch.

    A Smoking poll

I've smoked a cigar once...but I probably won't smoke anything else ever. I might try weed at some point in my life....but I think that's for a different stage in life called college. I will never smoke cigarettes though. I lost a grandfather to that, and I don't think I want to lose my life to it.
