  1. All managers do...even Alan Trammel won 43 times this year. However, you take out the 2000 season(where very little of it was because of Manuel), and he is 1 game over .500 for his entire career, and with the talent he had, 1 game over is terrible, even if he'd gone 25 games under his first 2 years. He should have been atleast 30 over.
  2. LOL....I think you're more then 3 months late....more like 4 or 5 months late. I like the way the Marlins play. They try to get on base and make things happen. When they do it, it puts extra pressure on the pitcher so he doesn't let whoever the baserunner is to get a big lead, so he starts worrying about the baserunner more then the hitter, and the next thing you know, the ball is flying 450 feet. That is why I think speed, or atleast stealing bases, is important to this team. Forcing the issue is what this team needs, because it messes with the pitcher, gets inside his head, and basically forces him to throw strikes. We saw a lot of that in 2000. It is also part of the Jose Valentin effect(in case you are unsure of what I mean, what I am talking aboutis Valentin's 2000 year....he hit .275 25 90, and he came into the season averaging an average season....something like .250 15 50 or so every year up to that point....but then he got put between Durham who constantly got on base and made the pitcher worry about to people at once, but he also batted in front of Frank Thomas, who had a tremendous year and crushed everything you threw over the plate....without those 2, Jose's offensive numbers are s***). Anyways, I think that's about the only team I'm cheering for....though I think the Giants will win the series(this series and the whole damn thing too....IMO, they're just too damn strong not to win it)

You mean other then by right clicking it and hitting find more sources, or in the search area, by downloading the ones with the most users? The only way there is....and gash already nailed it right on the head. Get a faster connection.
  4. Alcohol if flammable, yes. But if beer, wine, and even hard liquors(such as whiskey, tequila, and my personal favorite, vodka) are not 100% alcohol or even 50% alcohol. I'm sure someone more educated in the subject could tell you exactly, but I believe that a substance needs to be around 60-70% alcoholic to be flammable in large portions(such as dumping it on a fire). If I had to take a guess, I'd say that the one type of liquor(if you want to call it that) that is capable of this is everclear....or at the very least, I am almost positive everclear would do it. Maybe there are others as well. Stay away from everclear....that is nasty s***. I will never touch that stuff. Compare everclear to vodka....I mean, for instance, I had somewhere around 4-6 ounces of vodka the other night, and I was barely buzzing. If I had that much everclear, I'd(or almost anyone for that matter) be out and on the floor getting my legs shaved and pissing my pants as well as getting pissed on.
  5. Hell as long as it happens in my lifetime i feel pretty satisfied, kinda sad but oh well Lord knows if the two of us haven't seen the Sox and Cubs win the series when were old...then the teams are really screwed. I mean we should be alive at least another 60 years...hopefully a lot more. How sad is it that we even have to mention this. Hell I don't even know if the Bears will ever win a SB again. They will. They just need to get some front office and coaches who know what they are doing....or maybe the ones in Chicago do now, and they are intentionally running the team into the ground so they can get a high draft pick and then trade down again. Give it 10-15 years. I'm sure they'll be good eventually.....and they'll win a Superbowl eventually. Then again, I figured if a team got to the Superbowl 4 straight times they'd win atleast ONE of them. I guess not though.
  6. I said the Nuggets mainly because I figured everyone else was gonna say the Bulls. I think both will surprise big time though. IMO, Denver's a 30-40 win team and the Bulls are a potential playoff team. Just depends on how they gel. It's just a shame that Jay Williams got hurt though. Not sure if he'll be able to come back from that.
  7. Blame JM's dumb ass for that. He's such a dumbass.
  8. I'm sure if there were a big enough guy, you could get your ass beaten down. And afterwards, you'd want to go beat his ass. It's kind of like a real good friendship. You'll get really pissed at a guy, he'll kick your ass, then you'll kick his ass, and it will be all good in the end. Let's hope that happens in 2004.
  9. Just win baby....that's all I ask. That's what I want the new manager to do.
  10. That's like hating a kid in your grade because he beat your ass down. You don't hate that guy....but you do wanna go back and kick the s*** out of him the next time you see him. Same scenario here....I hope.
  11. He has two World Series rings for a reason. And even if it was because the talent was there in Toronto, I have to ask...so? We have the talent too. Colon resigns, we are in excellent shape for next year.
  12. Someone ban him I agree f*** the Cubs....I hate those pieces of s*** worse then the Twins. For all I care, the Twins can win the World Series 25 straight times....as long as the Cubs don't win it So basically what your saying is you whould rather see the Cubs lose, than the Sox win? By saying the Twins could win 25 times in a row basically means you dont care what the Sox do, just so the Cubs lose. Isnt that sad?? Ever heard of the Wild Card? If the Twins won the World Series 25 straight times, does it mean we couldn't get beaten by them in the ALCS 25 straight times? We could win 25 straight division titles and not win a single World Series, yet the Twins could win no division titles and win 25 straight World Series. Maybe you didn't understand well enough. What I was basically saying was that I'd rather see the Twins win it all then the Cubs. The Twins I can handle....yeah, they're a bunch of b****-asses, but once it's won, it's harder to get up for it again....advantage us. The Cubs...no. It would be the end of baseball on the Southside of Chicago as we know it, unless you count a AAA team(which probably would happen). The Cubs already draw the vast majority of the fairweather fans and they also draw non-fans as well because of the nostalgic feel it has(which I feel is a bunch of s***....just because it's 10,000 years old doesn't make it better....in fact, it probably makes it worse), and if they won the World Series, they'd probably get the fairweather White Sox fans as well. We'd be getting diehards and a very few fairweather fans. We would end up with a finished product on the field that is worse then the DRays in the end. You see why I would rather have the Twins win then the Cubs? I atleast want to keep baseball on the Southside at a somewhat major league level, and not play Raysball.
  13. The only talent? Curry-Chandler-Pippen-Gill-Hinrich, etc, mean NOTHING to you? Open you're eyes. I don't even follow basketball, but I can tell when teams are s***ty and when teams have talent. The Bulls have talent.
  14. There is always an exception to the rule. How about Ron Artest? IIRC, he wasn't an All-Star, and he is a top 5 defensive player in the NBA. He is tough as hell to get past.
  15. Well what'd they do, trade Latrell Spreewell for Keith Van Horn(essentially). You're going to be mired in mediocrity if that s*** happens. Van Horn's a decent player, but he can't hold Spreewell's jock, I don't care how many coaches Spreewell chokes. I'd much rather have the mean son of a b**** with anger problems on my team who is a damn good player rather then the decent, quiet, no problem type player. Who would you rather have, Randy Moss or Rod Smith? Terrell Owens or Peerless Price? Ray Lewis or London Fletcher? I think you get the picture. 24th doesn't surprise me....in fact, they should probably be lower then that. They are so close to being terrible that it ain't funny. And they drafted Sweetney for PF right? Isn't 6'8'' a tad short for a PF? I think Dennis Rodman is the only exception to that rule. The Knicks are headed in the wrong direction.
  16. I agree. I think my high school football team would give the Bears a run for their money. Atleat it will give the Bears one thing though - a high draft pick. Then again they had a high draft pick last year, and they traded down like a bunch of dumbasses. Probably do the same again.
  17. Too many good ones. I personally can't decide. There was the 12 game stretch against Minny and Chicago.....that stretch was a stretch of plain and simply beautiful baseball, and I think it is some of the best baseball the Sox played since 2000 in that 7-game roadie against Cleveland and New York, where the Sox went 7-0. I will not forget Thomas's homer off of Guardado. That was magical. I remember when he hit the ball way deep, the tone of Dick Bremer's voice....I was about ready to cry.
  18. Also factor into the equation that Ichiro has probably the strongest arm for any OFer in the AL right now(if Vlad signs with an AL team, that will probably change), but unlike Vlad, Ichiro is accurate with his throws and he is smart with his throws. He plays excellent defense, can play all 3 OF spots(he didn't play CF in Seattle because Cameron is a better defensive CFer then Ichiro), he is a threat to steal EVERY time he gets on 1B, and he can flat out make things happen. And that's only where he would help us on the baseball side of the picture. As far as everything else is concerned, he costs way less(we could trade them Lee...still come out about even....trade them Maggs, we can take on $3 mill of Maggs's salary and we still come out better financially), we get a player we can actually market, and the White Sox also become a much more marketable team all around. You would see an increase in attendance from the Asian-American community of Chicago(as well as the surrounding areas), and with that increase in everything, the White Sox will rake in much, much more money then they do now. You may call me crazy for this...but with our new-found depth at the OF spot in our minor league system and the fact that so many decent OFers can be had cheaply(Sanders, Cruz Jr, Lofton, etc), we could just fill in if need be, I would also include Jeremy Reed into the trade. I know he is a flat out stud, and it could potentially hurt us in the long run...but right now, I don't give a rat's ass about the long run. We just got f***ing embarrassed this year by having to play down to the very end with a team that has considerably less talent then the Sox do just to beat them out for 2nd place. IMO, that's unbelieveable....there is no reason this team shouldn't still be playing, let alone being eliminated when we were and how it was done(and I'm not talking about mathematically eliminated....we were done after getting swept by Minnesota....that is pathetic). So, if the Mariners want, they can have Jeremy Reed and Magglio Ordonez if they want to, so long as we get Ichiro in return.
  19. I was almost positive you were going to bring up He-who-shall-not-be-named.....I think you know who I'm talking about. I just hope that if Gaston does come here, he picks out a decent 3B coach.
  20. Damn, it ended at 2:00 in the morning? It's a good thing I went to bed. I barely got up as it was and I watched until Lowe came in.

  22. I agree with your rant. As do I. I find it incredibly stupid that I am learning how to do things that I will NEVER need in my lifetime....ever. I have a good understanding of the English language and how it works, so I do not see why I need to take 4 years of English in high school, I'm not positive as to why I will end up having to take some science classes that I won't need(though if I want to become a physician, all the science I can take I probably should), and why I need to know how to graph linear equations later on in life, etc. Makes very little sense to me at all. I think the reason Bush has stressed so much on education is probably because he's a dumbf***er himself and he never learned half of the stuff I'm learning and 1549's learning and roman's learning, etc etc etc, and I'm learning this because of him. If he wants to see why education and good grades for today's kids is not important, he needs to look in the mirror.
  23. Hell as long as it happens in my lifetime i feel pretty satisfied, kinda sad but oh well Don't worry about it too much....atleast the Cubs are in a good situation. Just be glad you're not a Sox fan. The White Sox are most likely already f***ed next year unless some kind of magic occurs, and it's only October 1st.
  24. I hate to get too creative here, but how about Off-Topic Board
