  1. Also, maybe it's just me, but I for someone reason don't get the same feel this year that I have gotten from the playoffs in year's past? I mean, last year, and in 01, and even slightly in 00, I got this sensation, and my heart starts beating faster when I think of the playoffs. This year, I don't get that. Do you think it's because the Sox got so close but then choked, because the Cubs are in, or both? Because I can't figure it out.
  2. Oakland. This series could have and probably should have been over tonight. A few dumbass plays and one terrible call by the umps IMO, and they're playing again tomorrow. I think we find one of our ALCS teams tomorrow, and we find the next on Monday.
  3. Maggs had good numbers overall this year....something like .315 30 100. But you remember that he makes $9 mill, and those numbers become s***. If a guy is going to be making $9 mill, I'm going to want him to put up .325 35 120 numbers at the very LEAST. He makes $14 mill next year. What I want out of a guy that makes $14 mill is either a guy who takes huge strides FORWARD(which he did not do this year....he took a stride backwards....in 02, he hit like .320 40 135 approximately....he had nothing CLOSE to that this year). If we can get anything decent for Maggs this year on the trading market(and we will), Maggs will NOT be on the White Sox roster next year. Also, for Konerko, if Baltimore is somewhat interested, talk to them. If LA is somewhat interested, talk to them. And if they both want Konerko....let them fight for him, get the best offer you can, and accept it. Notice I said the best offer and not the offer where we can shed the most payroll. If LA wants to give us Shawn Green and Paul Lo Duca, do it....we ain't cutting payroll(in fact, we are adding it), but we would be improving the team tenfold. Maggs is as good as gone....and I hope Konerko is gone too. Lets not forget Maggs lack of clutch hitting and propensity for hitting into DPs. DPs dont count as two outs on their BA.................but its still 2 outs. I love Maggs. Would i pay this guy 14 mil or add more balance to our roster? Give me the balance. EXACTLY If we get rid of Maggs without having to take on much of his salary, and because of it, we can sign Cabrera and Castillo/Alomar, and then maybe a cheaper RFer such as Reggie Sanders, and possibly even a good reliever or two such as Hawkins, Hasegawa, Rhodes, Foulke, or Gordon, or using that extra money to ensure Colon stays, and our money is well spent.
  4. That's not necessarily a bad thing. If Colon is gone, but Ponson is signed for $5-$7 mill a year, and that extra $3-$7 mill that we save in that is used to deepen the team and make it, overall, more dangerous, I am all for it.

  6. Do I think he will comeback to play here? Yes I do I just don't want to give him $10 million to come here, because that's probably what it would take to get him here, because of the fact that he was treated like s*** by this organization(tell me, is that the first time we've heard that before? Karma bites people in the ass, and you wonder why the White Sox have been mediocre for the past 3 years?)
  7. Garland is a .500 pitcher. No more, no less. If this team is serious about contending, when Goo walks, we deal for a one or two SP AND a three or four man in the rotation. Relegate JG to the number 5 spot where he belongs. I'd agree with you.....if JM were still our manager. JM had little to no confidence in Garland at times, causing him to have little to no confidence in himself at times. I think if we have a manager that is confident in him, he will be much better. Killa, you were at the "game"(if you want to call it that) where Manuel took Garland out after 5....the next 2 or 3 starts were all s*** from Garland, and my guess is that him getting taken out early factored into him getting shelled. A manager with a brain leaves Garland in during that game, we possibly win, and maybe our season doesn't go sour. Because of mistakes like that, we are not playing the Yankees. As far as the 5th starter is concerned....make it someone who will put up respectable numbers. I don't want any of this 3 wins from our 5th starter spot bulls*** that we got all year long. I want someone who will win us a ballgame or two a month....and if we can get 8-12 wins out of the 5th starter spot, I will be ecstatic. And CFer....I got 1 word for you....Dorn.
  8. No option for this year. I expect him to get about $10 mill again next year.....give or take a couple million.
  9. Am I the only one who thinks that because SamME played on the North Side, everything he has ever done wrong has been covered up and sugar-coated, but had he done EVERYTHING the same on the South Side, that everything would be used against him, tearing down his repuation, making the White Sox look like cheaters, and SamME Sosa NOT being one of the "nice guys" in baseball. Catch my drift? It's a definate possibility.

    "OUCH"

Eating anyones testicles is disgusting. And eating your own, by severing them with a knife, is even more disgusting... :puke You've probably never heard of Rocky Mountain oysters, have you?
  11. November 1st? I'm thinking like 2 or 3 weeks from now it'll be snowing down here. We've already had a hard freeze up here. I guess that's what you get living in North Dakota though.
  12. Ohio State won't make this year undefeated either. Both are going to fall. Agreed. Ohio State was looking good....and then Clarett f***ed up. Ohio State had a close game with SDSU and nearly got beaten by NC State. However, their schedule isn't much tougher the rest of the year. It'll be interesting to see.
  13. In two weeks, you'll be hoping for the basketball season to start. Let's hope the Bulls are good...cuz if not, we could be hearing "I can't wait for baseball season to start" in like mid-January.
  14. I don't think Prior is the best pitcher in the league....I goddamn know he's the best pitcher in the league. When everything is considered, no one is greater then Prior.

    manager

    Not Jerry Manuel.
  16. Nope. They showed a blip the other night....I believe the Giants beat them 4 games to 1.
  17. A lot of alcohol is best when you can't taste it. That's why shooting liquor is so gross. I remember the first time I got some vodka, I smelled it and I said "Isn't this rubbing alcohol?" I then sipped just a little of it, and I did not like it. But you mix it with lemonade....and you got yourself a totally different drink. Mix it with orange juice....mmm mmm good.
  18. Does anyone know if Syracuse is gonna be any good this year? They've always been a team I follow in college sports, though I'm not necessarily sure why.
  19. The Canes almost got beaten by a weak conference opponent....what the hell's gonna happen to them when they play FSU and VaTech and whoever else they play? Miami's 36 or 37 regular season winning streak will end this year....book it.
  20. You were in Minnesota for the Sox clincher in 2000? That was awesome....I will remember that day like it was yesterday. The thing I remember most about the game was how Sean Lowe threw like 5 or 6 innings of 1-hit baseball, and then the bullpen imploded. Lawton ended the game in the 10th with a walk-off dinger. I will also remember Mark Buehrle's first career start and his first career win too. Happened in Minnesota as well. 2000 was a very good year for the Sox.
  21. Sheffield did hit .330 though....Thomas didn't even hit .270. But I have noticed quite a few pop-ups by Sheff. The dumbf***er.
  22. If your gonna get anyone...go for Krod...none of the others would be worth acquiring, imo. If your gonna trade Maggs make sure you get a long term solution. If I dealt Magglio, I'd look to get the Angels to send ya Erstad and Krod. I'd tell them to pay half of Erstads salary. I'd be willing to give Erstie 4 mill a year. NO idea if they would do it. Otherwise if you get Krod you need to get at least one of the Angels very best prospects plus another very good one. Come to think of it...Krod, Davannon,...top prospect. Big thing is Sox must use Maggs money to improve the team in other ways. In all reality, I'd do a KRod and DaVanon for Maggs trade straight up. We not only get one of the best pitchers in the majors for our bullpen as far as plain stuff is concerned, but we also get a replacement for this year if we can't get a better replacement, and if we can, we have a good OF/1B type, and it also cuts payroll(and if needed, we can also up the offer to Colon). If we could get a decent prospect from them too, that would be stellar and an even better move too.
  23. And if he is, he's apparently looking at the right one. I don't mind seeing a guy with 2 rings on his hands coming in to take over as manager.
  24. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but can't Frank just flat out opt out of this deal and become an UFA? Doesn't matter....I think we have to get rid of one of Thomas and Konerko and then I think we will probably get rid of Maggs too. Saves us a lot of money in the long run if it does happen.
  25. I disagree. Caballo improved so much all around this year, you gotta keep him in LF.
