So they finally realized you can score runs without hitting homers? About 6 months too late there guys

Because KW is not Billy Beane and Ed Wade is not KW.
-
Where's the "Who cares?", "None of the teams I want to are will" or "None of them" buttons on that poll?

Right now at this moment, it's something like 1. 50 Cent - If I Can't 2. Lil Kim feat 50 Cent - Magic Stick 3. Tupac - Thugz Mansion(one of my all-time favorite rap songs) 4. Rakim - Let the Rhythm Hit 'em(pretty old, but is still good) 5. Puff Daddy - I'll be missing you If you can't tell, I like more of the older stuff, unless someone is really good. The reason you don't see Nelly's name up there is because he is the most overrated music artist in the entire industry. 50 Cent's pretty good though

Oh so now you're taking cheap shots at one of the all-time great hitters in Joe Jackson, calling him too dumb to understand, and I assume you refer to him being illiterate. That's a low blow right there.
-
Should I go for a new record, making a name called "WSI-Licks-my-nuts" or something to that extent?
-
I'm very sorry to hear that.

It DOES gets JM canned. Works for me. You still can't hit a 5-run homer though.

If there's a God, the Cubs won't make the playoffs.
-
Garland will be fine, and in the long run, was well worth not only Matt Karchner, but the fact that we can say to Cubs fans "How's Matt Karchner doing nowadays?" I think pitching for a different manager will be better for him. JM has had no confidence in Garland whatsoever, so Garland has had little confidence. Remember the KC game where we lost 13-9 and were winning like 6-3 and JM took Garland out in the 6th? That had to of killed the kid mentally for a stretch of 3 or 4 starts. Give him time, and he will mature into a good pitcher.

Please put the crack pipe down son. I am not a druggy, sir. Whatever...I'm down with whatever you doggies are sayin...

For starters, earlier in this thread you said that Thomas has had a great year, but him choking come crunch time didn't matter because he's been having a good year and because he's a legend....that's f***ing BULLs***. I don't give a s*** what his numbers are, if both ELo and Frank choke, they are one and the same....chokers. And you brought up that Thomas was having a great year, mind his average. Loaiza has had a great ALL-AROUND year, and he's most likely in the top 5 in all the big stats for pitchers(ERA, W-L, K's, and QS's). Thomas isn't even close. And IIRC, Jackson nor Weaver received any money in that at all. They were at the meeting, but did not want to participate in it. You've never seen Eight Men Out, have you?

I assume you've only seen Jerry Manuel and Terry Bevington then. Lou Piniella made him look like a schoolgirl in the 2000 ALDS. Yeah well...still I was proud of him For 1 playoff appearance(which by the way, was more a huge number of players having breakthrough seasons and less great managing)? I think you're the only one proud of him for that. The only thing about Manuel that makes me happy is the fact that (if I may borrow the great words of Hawk Harrelson) HE GONE.
-
Maybe not MVP....but he did single-handedly revive the all but dead Twins this year. So he's atleast MVP of the Twins.

Sadly you do not see me jumping for joy...I am proud of Jerry...look at all the man has done for the team in MOST of his TENURE WHITE SOX FANS...JEEZ, give the guy a little respect and credit... :fyou He's a f***ing piece of s*** who can't manage a pitching staff to save his life. His managing has cost the Sox many years of success and I'm sure he's given quite a few on here gray hairs. You wanna know why this team had a s***ty attitude? Look no further then Manuel himself.

We knew it was coming...but it is great, nonetheless.

I don't think I've ever cried because of a movie before....maybe it's because right when I'm about to cry I realize it is a movie and they are just "pretending" to do this stuff. Not sure. The last time I cried was at my grandpa's funeral. I really haven't cried up since then. Also, I think I would also cry if any of my teams won a big championship....Bills, White Sox, Vikings....well, maybe not Vikings, but Bills and White Sox especially. I'm just happy as all hell that I'm not old enough to remember "The Kick." I've already heard too much about it.

You wanna know why the Twins won the division?
witesoxfan replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Losing 5 straight games against the Twins is something we could have controlled True....but it wouldn't have locked the division. -
SHANNON STEWART???? HE wont even get a vote. It looks like Delgado is a lock, after the 4 home runs. But the thing is with the stupid "most valuable player on a winning team" era of voting he should get more consideration, than about anyone else. That, and the fact that he actually has single-handedly resurrected the Twins
-
Because I can tell you why the Twins won the division. It was nothing we did or nothing the Royals did. The Twins won the division because they have played .700 baseball over the 2nd half of the season. You won't be too many teams that play .700 baseball, especially if they are only a 1/2 game behind you at the break. We have played some pretty good baseball against some pretty good teams in the 2nd half. The fact that Minnesota won 70% of their games is something we couldn't control, and we just have to accept that fact. That fact that we were even mathematically alive in the race in the last week of the season is incredible considering how well the Twins played. And a few very good things come out of this. For starters, it gets Jerry Manuel the hell out of town. Secondly, it shows us the importance of playing good baseball from day 1 to day 180 of the season. And finally, it shows the fact that just because a team looks out and they have lost 22 of 28, they are not necessarily out of the race. Now that I've sugarcoated it all and made it real nice and mushy and soft-hearted, we wait until next year to try again....this time with a different manager. In the meantime..... :fthecubs .....GO HOUSTON!
-
I don't know about anyone else, but I personally thought Delgado's bat toss was pretty funny. I was LMAO. As far as the AL MVP is concerned, it has to go to either Delgado or Stewart....no one else even is close to deserving it. You can look up the stats all you want....without those two players on their teams, the Twins finish in 3rd place behind KC and us(who finish in first by probably about 5-10 games), and the Blue Jays would probably end the current streak of same place finishes in consecutive seasons(I believe this is like the 4th or 5th straight year the AL East has ended up as Yankees-Red Sox-Blue Jays-Orioles-DRays, in that order).

ill also add to what your saying by talking about his mental state of mind in there as well.... he has gone through some seriously tough family times in his past few years.. a rabid money hungry ex wife... a kid with brain tumors....and a new wife with illness as well....mental state of mind can make or break you as well as the physical aspects...... That it can. But in issues like that, players can also step it up as well. I'll never forget the night Jordan had the flu in the NBA Finals against the Jazz.....that gives me goosebumps every time I recall it. But in cases like that, players can also break down, like you said. For example, a less devastating one then ELo's, but Mike Hampton in Colorado. He was a great pitcher before signing with Colorado, and then turns to s***, both at home AND on the road. The Coors effect only works at home, which is why the Rockies are always awesome in Coors and always s***ty on the road. But I can understand ELo's predicament as well.

How can a pitcher NOT show heart? I just don't understand it. If you mean by showing heart, that they pump their fist when a fluke miracle happens(for example, Carlos Zambrano catching a rocket ball hit right back up the middle and pumping his fists like he did everything and he is the next Messiah, then I'm glad our pitchers didn't show heart). I don't understand what you mean
